Who Made Her an NPC?!

Chapter 143 : 『Sovereign of the Shadowed Night Bai Fu’s Queen Coronation Ceremony!』

Chapter 143:『Sovereign of the Shadowed Night Bai Fu’s Queen Coronation Ceremony!』

Excavation‑Princess had joined the major expedition this time precisely because Bai Fu was currently trending at peak popularity. She wanted to capture more of Bai Fu’s cool combat footage while conveniently padding out the Gene Primordials storyline with material for the next episode of Garden of Silence News Express.

Thus, ever since entering Haidu, she had been filming videos and taking photos of Bai Fu, just like Yulia.

The difference was that Yulia always focused her lens on Bai Fu’s waist, hips, and legs, claiming it was to better study how Bai Fu exerted strength from those angles. In contrast, Excavation‑Princess paid more attention to Bai Fu’s overall image.

She had assumed today wouldn’t yield much, but she never expected that the “burly and sweaty” alien would drop a bombshell.

“Fu-fu isn’t from Origin Star?”

Whoa—what the heck!

And it wasn’t just any alien—it was a plot-critical alien saying this. That basically made it irrefutable, right?

This sealed it. The final puzzle piece confirming Fu-fu as the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night was in place!

Excavation‑Princess trembled all over with excitement, as if she’d been electrocuted.

She had just wanted to get a sip of hot soup by following Fu-fu around, but who would’ve thought that after drinking the soup, there’d even be meat to eat?

Hiss—so this was Fu-fu?

No matter how deep she dug, there was always more. No matter how she probed, she never reached the bottom. Truly unfathomable!

Excavation‑Princess quickly launched her livestream.

【Hmm? Why did Digging‑Treasure suddenly go live?】

【Weren’t they attacking the Gene Primordials? I thought streaming wasn’t convenient—did something huge happen?】

【It’s Fu-fu, my wife!】

By now, Excavation‑Princess was among the top streamers in the game. The moment she went live, a flood of players poured into the livestream room.

【Hello, everyone! Honestly, I hadn’t planned on streaming today, but just now, I heard an explosive piece of news!】

【Do you remember the video I posted not long ago? I said I was 95% sure that Fu-fu was the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night. Now, I can fill in the remaining 5%!】

As she spoke, she nudged the camera slightly upward, pointing it at Fragment Star, who was panicking due to the unfavorable situation.

【Let me introduce him—Fragment Star, the final BOSS of the Gene Primordials main storyline. The legendary alien, the root cause of the Origin Star Cataclysm. No need for more words. Just watch the footage.】

Excavation‑Princess didn’t tease the audience or build suspense. After revealing Fragment Star’s identity, she straightforwardly played the clip she had just recorded.

The video was short—only 30 seconds—but once players knew Fragment Star’s identity, those 30 seconds hit with the impact of a fat man falling from the sky.

Boom!

【Holy crap!】

Almost the moment the video began playing, her livestream room was engulfed by a sea of live‑stream comments.

No additional narration was needed. Every player watching knew what Excavation‑Princess was trying to say—

Bai Fu was the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night!

They believed it.

In truth, Excavation‑Princess’s logic chain had plenty of holes. Even if Bai Fu really was an alien, that alone didn’t prove she was the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night. After all, coincidences happened.

But players weren’t here for real life—they were here for the game.

And in a game filled with such coincidences, who’d believe Bai Fu had nothing to do with the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night?

Players believed her partly because of who Excavation‑Princess was.

Who was Excavation‑Princess?

In other games, she lost over and over. But in Beyond the Stars, no one understood Bai Fu better. From launch until now, through three entire minor patches, every single one of her predictions about Bai Fu had been right.

Yes, all of them. As if she had written Bai Fu’s plot herself, and Bai Fu was just acting it out.

Unbelievable, right?

So when Excavation‑Princess presented evidence and said she was 100% sure Bai Fu was the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night, the last remaining doubts were drowned in the tide.

【It’s settled—Fu-fu’s true identity is the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night from Indigo Star!】

【Fu-fu really is an alien—she didn’t lie!】

【I’m in tears. Seriously, Fu-fu trusted us enough to tell us she was an alien not long after meeting us. That kind of trust is so moving.】

In the community, related posts sprang up like mushrooms after a rain and swiftly swept across the forums like a storm.

There was just so much to discuss.

Players from the Fu Sect went wild over the fact that Bai Fu hadn’t lied and had revealed her true identity early on.

【Fu-fu treated me with honesty—how could I not do the same? I hereby announce: from today on, I’m retiring all my other virtual wives!】

The fun-loving players, meanwhile, were busy harassing Indigo Star players.

【Does this count as Origin Star players NTR-ing Indigo Star players?】

【Let’s go! Moo!】

【Just you wait—we’ll snatch Bai Fu back sooner or later!】

A small portion of players had always disliked Bai Fu. Seeing her rise in popularity, they couldn’t find proof that she wasn’t the Sovereign of the Shadowed Night, so they resorted to branding her a villain.

【You clearly don’t understand how game companies design NPCs. The more perfect the character, the more likely they’re secretly black-hearted. Bai Fu is probably a bad woman, pretending to be nice while using you all. While you’re worshipping her, she probably doesn’t even care about you and wants to trample you underfoot and shove her foot in your mouth to humiliate you.】

【1111, she’d really do that?】

【You’re impervious to logic, huh? I swear on this account that Bai Fu is a bad woman. She’s only treating you well to exploit you. When she says she likes you, it’s just to get you to spend more money!】

【Who cares if she’s a bad woman—bad women are great. Fu-fu the bad woman, kill me!】

Enraged by the Fu Sect players, the haters shut down the community in frustration.

While the forum wars raged, many players headed to Excavation‑Princess’s livestream for real-time coverage. They wanted to see how Bai Fu would beat up that alien named Fragment Star—but to their surprise, they stumbled upon even more.

Fragment Star was shocked by the revelation that Bai Fu was an alien. Even when his mechanical forces were blown up by the players’ self-destruction tactics, he hadn’t panicked much. But now, it was different.

Why had another alien appeared on Origin Star?

When had Bai Fu arrived—before him, or after? Or had she come with him but remained hidden aboard the ship the entire time, escaping his notice?

Was Bai Fu here for another purpose, or had her goal all along been to capture him?

Fragment Star’s mind was in turmoil, filled with questions. He could no longer remain calm.

“You’re here for the Pillar of the True Spirit, aren’t you? Who exactly are you? Did the Red Moon Mercenary Group send you? Or the Blessed Congregation? No, you might be from the Crystalite Security Company—Crystalite has been sniffing around about the Pillar of the True Spirit. They’ve even had people following me before!”

The barrage of names spilling out of Fragment Star’s mouth had the players in the livestream room thoroughly entertained. Hearing about conflicts from the star seas on a beginner planet? How could that not be exciting?

【If you can talk, then talk more】

【What pose do you think Fu-fu will use to send him off?】

【I don’t know, but I hope Fu-fu crushes me with her thighs】

【Where did this pervert come from???】

Bai Fu brushed the glass shards off her clothes. “Too bad. You guessed wrong.”

She had no idea Excavation‑Princess was streaming, but she still chose to say something cryptic—mainly to fish more intel out of Fragment Star in preparation for venturing into the stars.

Fragment Star had already let some useful information slip. For instance, the Pillar of the True Spirit—that was likely the true name of the Obsidian. Also, the Blessed Congregation—Yulia’s buff was called 【Blessed Link】.

“None of them? Impossible. No one else knows the Pillar of the True Spirit is on the ship I arrived in! Unless...”

Fragment Star’s soul suddenly contorted. The surge of emotion triggered this reaction. He had thought of an utterly terrifying possibility.

“You’re from the faction behind the Blessed Congregation?”

He didn’t even dare speak the name of that faction aloud, afraid the ruler of that force might sense it.

Bai Fu let out a cold hum, neither confirming nor denying it. “What do you want the Pillar of the True Spirit for?”

“I only wanted to sell it for money, you...”

No, begging now was meaningless.

Fragment Star knew this well. He had fled to Origin Star in a panic, carrying the Pillar of the True Spirit, and hid for a hundred Origin Star years. The ones seeking the Pillar would never let him go easily. After all, he was just a powerless nobody who had dared to greedily steal the Pillar of the True Spirit.

If he wanted to survive, he had to kill Bai Fu.

Bai Fu was strong, but not so strong as to make him feel hopeless. He was certain she, too, had encountered trouble when descending onto Origin Star and had suffered major losses in strength.

“I climbed step by step to where I am now. As long as I can resurrect, as long as I can leave Origin Star with the Pillar of the True Spirit, as long as I can sell it—I’ll never have to worry about money again!”

Fragment Star suddenly burst out laughing, squeezing out a soul-shaking roar.

“Do you know how much effort it took for me to glimpse this sliver of hope? You don’t. And you don’t need to! You want to kill me, so I’ll kill you! Even if you’re from that faction, I’m not afraid. No matter the cost, no matter how many lives I must sacrifice—I will survive!”

His soul began to tremble. The egg-shaped chamber quaked with it, and for a moment, the entire underground base seemed on the verge of collapse.

Seeing this, the players immediately understood. In games, when a cutscene reached this point, it usually meant a fight was about to begin!

Too bad—it looked like she wouldn’t be able to coax out any more intel.

Bai Fu shook her head. “Too bad. Wrong again. I’m not from that faction you mentioned. Though it’s true I wanted to find a way back to the Rebirth Empire through you, the reason I came today is mainly for two things.

“One. You captured Xia Shi.

“Two. You and those other ambitious fools turned Origin Star into a wasteland. Many people want you dead.

“For these two reasons, I must send you off!”

As soon as she finished speaking, Bai Fu raised the Shadow Staff in her hand and fired several psionic bullets, piercing Fragment Star’s soul in an instant.

“Did it hit?”

Bai Fu looked around, completely ignoring the floating Fragment Star mid-air.

She didn’t know whether it was an illusion or something else—she only knew those shots hadn’t registered any damage, and she hadn’t received the in-game notification of Fragment Star’s death.

“Faking death in front of me is pointless. Not even the Sovereign of the Galaxy could pull it off!”

A glint flashed in Bai Fu’s eyes.

The most troublesome thing about fighting soul forms was their erratic movements—and the damn things could fly—but she had already figured out where Fragment Star was hiding.

The next second, she suddenly vanished from her original spot, leaving behind only a trail of afterimages.

【Where’d she go?】

Nearby players and those in the livestream all widened their eyes and looked around. Suddenly, a sizzling explosion came from the right side of the egg-shaped chamber.

They quickly turned their heads and saw a streak of black light carved across the device imprisoning Xia Shi.

Fragment Star had attempted to take Xia Shi hostage—but Bai Fu had predicted it!

In terms of strength, the current Fragment Star was definitely no match for her. If he wanted to survive, the easiest and most effective method was to take someone hostage. He couldn’t seize a player, and capturing Yulia was too difficult, so his only target could be Xia Shi.

Realizing this, Bai Fu immediately blinked in front of Xia Shi.

Psionic Shield activated!

Since Psionic Shield couldn’t block all types of attacks, the moment she steadied herself, Bai Fu followed up with a skill card she had snatched from Yulia—Psionic Field.

Psionic Field, once activated, created a force field that reduced most types of damage, repelled enemies, and inflicted continuous damage on enemies inside.

In Bai Fu’s view, among all of Yulia’s abilities, aside from the Doppelgänger, this Psionic Field had the most terrifying potential if it ever became a permanent aura...

God-tier skill!

Even in its current version, Psionic Field was unquestionably god-tier on Origin Star.

Fragment Star had meticulously analyzed every one of Bai Fu’s public battles. He was confident he knew her combat style inside and out—but he never imagined Bai Fu could use one-time skill cards to borrow other people’s abilities.

His attack could penetrate Psionic Shield—but not Psionic Field.

Once inside the Psionic Field, a searing pain like burning flames surged from deep within his soul. Before he could react, Bai Fu glided forward, Shadow Rapier in hand, and struck his left arm with a precise thrust.

Fragment Star screamed as the Psionic Field flung him away. He tried to get up and put distance between them—but his soul felt like it was on fire.

It was the shadow-attribute psionic energy corroding his soul!

Damn it.

Fragment Star’s expression turned hideous.

He couldn’t afford to hesitate any longer. He immediately activated the self-destruct program of the egg-shaped structure. It was a hidden contingency he had built in from the start—a last resort for desperate moments.

Come on then—let’s see if you die to the self-destruct first, or if I do!

Fragment Star bared his teeth in a vicious grin.

He bet he would survive. He was now in soul form—fragile, yes—but conventional explosions and shockwaves couldn’t hurt him.

He looked down at Bai Fu—only to find her smiling back at him.

“So this is your final card?”

Bai Fu found it hard not to laugh.

Fight her to the death?

She had a whopping 6102 HP, and on top of that, she could cast Psionic Shield twice in quick succession using her own skills and Prayer Cards, granting herself a total of 6000 Shield points.

“You probably want to take me down with you—and drag the civilians down as well, right? If an explosion happens directly beneath the Signal Tower, the entire tower will collapse. No one nearby would survive. But it seems you've forgotten—the situation on the surface is already under the control of the Undying Ones I brought.”

Bai Fu turned to look at Excavation‑Princess and Yulia.

“Excavation‑Princess, contact the Undying Ones on the surface and have them organize an evacuation for the civilians.”

“Yulia, take Xia Shi and Xia Shude and leave first. I’ll come find you after I’m done with him.”

Yulia nodded. She increased her output and sent the half-dead Satori away, then rushed into the lab and lifted Xia Shi from the machine. Just before leaving, she suddenly took out a test tube and tossed it to Bai Fu.

“I won’t be at your side, so use this for now. It’s my blood.”

Bai Fu was momentarily stunned. “If I remember correctly, you once said you were afraid of pain—because it reminded you of what you endured in the Truth Society.”

Yulia’s expression was icy. “You saved me. Even if you wanted all of my blood, I would give it to you.”

“Mm.” Bai Fu nodded. “Go.”

Yulia took Xia Shi and Xia Shude and left.

Only Bai Fu, Fragment Star, and the players risking their lives just to watch remained in the underground base.

“Now, it’s time to decide who lives and who dies.”

Bai Fu suddenly said, just as a rock fell from the ceiling and shattered upon smashing into her shoulder.

Fragment Star sensed danger, but he still underestimated Bai Fu’s speed. With all buffs included, Bai Fu’s Agility had reached 149. By the time he saw her lifting her foot, she was already standing before him.

Shadow-attribute psionic energy curled around her right hand like black flames. She slammed it down onto Fragment Star’s neck and, under the boost of shadow psionic energy, seized his soul.

“You were prepared to die, weren’t you?”

Bai Fu wore a smile, but her voice was as cold as a polar wind.

Fragment Star struggled desperately, to no avail.

He could only watch helplessly as Bai Fu pummeled his head with her left fist, each blow making his soul feel like it would shatter.

Shadow psionic energy came with a burning trait—perfectly suited for attacking a soul like Fragment Star’s that was immune to normal damage.

As Bai Fu continued her assault, the egg-shaped structure's explosions intensified. Broken concrete, flying steel, shockwaves—all battered Bai Fu’s body in waves.

But Bai Fu stood unmoving, as steadfast as a mountain.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The burning of shadow psionic energy and the corrosion from the Psionic Field nearly drove Fragment Star mad. At this point, he could do nothing but roar and struggle to outlast Bai Fu in this life-or-death showdown.

109, -151, -134…

Streams of damage numbers floated above Bai Fu and Fragment Star.

The difference was that Bai Fu was losing Shield points, while Fragment Star was losing HP.

Losing Shield caused no issues, but losing HP triggered all kinds of negative effects.

Fight her to the death? He was too fragile!

The players nearby were dumbfounded.

They hadn’t seen Bai Fu’s final showdown with the Truth Society President. Witnessing her ferocious style now left their minds buzzing.

【Holy crap, Fu-fu is way too fierce】

【If those punches landed on me】

【Forget multiple punches—you couldn’t take even one】

【Damn, I hope Fu-fu doesn’t get any scars. If she does, that’d be terrible】

【Is this really the time to worry about that? If she doesn’t kill that alien quickly, the base is going to collapse! Fu-fu better be okay!】

As the players chattered, the Extra-dimensional Erosion Mark on Fragment Star reached five full stacks and erupted, tearing rifts of unstable brightness and darkness through his soul.

“This should be the final blow.”

Bai Fu powered up her waist and legs, coordinated her full body strength, and smashed her fist into Fragment Star’s face. The instant her fist touched his soul, a massive surge of psionic energy burst forth like a tidal wave.

Fragment Star opened his mouth, but no sound came out—his soul’s head had been instantly shredded into invisible fragments, swallowed by the falling dust and smoke of the explosion.

Bai Fu released her right hand. At that moment, Fragment Star’s soul completely ceased to move, dissolving into nothingness.

【You have slain Fragment Star (Soul). Contribution: 100%. After level difference adjustment, you gained 420,000 XP.】

【You have completed the hidden quest [The Truth Society President’s Last Wish]】

Bai Fu raised her hand and deflected a falling chunk of rubble with a punch.

Looking at the half-collapsed underground base, she shook her head.

So Fragment Star’s real body wasn’t that impressive—only 420,000 XP? Even a player could grant more XP if they just topped up their contribution a bit.

But this was also because she had arrived early. A mere soul, stripped of the protection of the superpowered and mechanical guards, couldn’t do more than attempt a desperate last stand.

“We should get out of here first.”

On the way out, Bai Fu grabbed a few high-ranking-looking researchers, then led the players in a rapid sprint toward the exit.

Rescuing Xia Shi and killing Fragment Star were just half the mission.

She still had to loot all the knowledge the Gene Primordials possessed, make a trip to the Psionic Research Institute No. 3 Subdivision, retrieve the final fragment of the Pillar of the True Spirit, and—most importantly—find that ship.

That ship determined whether she could enter the galaxy before the officially launched galaxy version arrived. It was incredibly important.

She had been able to bluff players into working for her because she always stayed ahead of the meta. If she couldn’t enter the galaxy early, and players’ Main Class levels caught up after the galaxy version launched, ordering them around like now would no longer be so easy.

In one minute, Bai Fu charged out of the Signal Tower, dodging falling debris from above.

Seeing her land safely on the surface, Yulia finally let out a breath of relief.

“Anya just sent word—she and the Undying Ones have secured the Psionic Research Institute No. 3 Subdivision and the lab suspected to house the Obsidian Shard. Now we’re just waiting on you to inspect them. Over in Haidu, the Seven-Person Council of the Gene Primordials has been wiped out. The survivors chose to surrender. Word has spread—expect the Railway Guild, Human Alliance, and Old Republic to contact you soon.”

Just as Yulia said, once news broke that Bai Fu had truly conquered Haidu, the remaining Three Major Factions couldn’t sit still.

If Bai Fu had recently been the queen of the underworld, now, after two victorious wars—against the Truth Society and the Gene Primordials—she had truly been crowned the queen of Origin Star!
