Chapter 142: Certification from Fragment Star, Bai Fu Really Is an Alien!

Pombaton was instantly killed by Bai Fu. After that, the gene‑primogenitor forces stationed across Haidu lost centralized command and quickly fell into chaos, each unit fighting on its own.

Their sudden disarray caused the seemingly impregnable isolation wall to become riddled with holes.

Players wouldn’t let such an opportunity slip away. They swiftly scaled the walls, stormed into Haidu, chased gene‑primogenitor soldiers through the streets, and loudly comforted Haidu’s ordinary residents:

“Everyone calm down. We are only targeting that alien who has done evil deeds, and the vermin of the Seven‑Person Council colluding with that alien!”

“We come from Sovereign of the Shadowed Night. The lord of Sovereign of the Shadowed Night is Bai Fu. You all have heard of Fu‑fu, right? The Bane of the Truth Society! The supreme, the purest, the kindest! Fu‑fu would never commit evil such as oppressing people, so you don’t need to fear us following Fu‑fu!”

“For safety reasons, during the battle’s conclusion, please stay indoors as much as possible, so you won’t get hit by stray bullets or be captured as hostages by desperate gene‑primogenitor soldiers!”

Within just half an hour, Player voices were everywhere in and around Haidu.

To ensure Haidu would fall, Bai Fu had brought a main force of three thousand players. During the advance, nearly a thousand gene‑primogenitor players defected mid‑battle. With four thousand players united, their power erupted like a volcanic eruption, shaking the entire Haidu.

Gene‑primogenitor, as one of the Five Great Powers, did have several high‑level superpsychic experts stationed. If these high‑levels unleashed all their power, though defeating hundreds with one might be difficult, wiping out dozens at a time would be easy.

Yet, seeing players rampaging through the streets, not a single high‑level superpsychic dared to reveal themselves.

Reputation is like a tree’s shadow.

Hearing that Bai Fu was also among the attacking force in Haidu, those high‑levels immediately became like hiding tortoises.

Whoever feels like facing Bai Fu can go ahead—they certainly wouldn’t go themselves.

It wouldn’t be true that anyone would really believe Bai Fu was a succubus just because Su Li gave her that nickname, would they?

Bai Fu had no little tail, no little wings. Even the president of the Truth Society couldn’t withstand her attack. If they went, they’d probably have their heads wrenched off within three seconds.

“These gene‑primogenitors have really been raised in vain over the years, a pack of ungrateful wolves!”

In an isolated villa in the east of the city, after repeatedly calling out to several high‑level superpsychics with no response, former director of the Gene‑Primogenitor Technology Bureau, Xia Shude, fixed his gaze on the family portrait hanging on the wall.

His breathing was rapid, his eyes heavy with bloodshot lines.

What should he do?

Without escorts, reaching the underground base was impossible. If he couldn’t reach the base, he couldn’t save Xia Shi!

Xia Shude clenched his fists tightly.

Xia Shi was not his biological daughter. At the time, his wife had been found unable to bear children. He went to the Artificial Human Training Camp and brought Xia Shi back.

From Xia Shi’s early years, he had been strict with her. After his wife died from illness, his demands only grew stricter—and that hadn’t changed until now.

Many believed he didn’t love Xia Shi, this adopted daughter. Insiders speculated it was because she was an artificial human.

But in truth, he had always regarded Xia Shi as a treasure. He hoped that, though she was born an artificial human, Xia Shi could control her own fate. He wanted to nurture her into the world’s finest human.

He was simply not good at expressing emotions, and he was too impatient. Because of this, their relationship had become strained. After graduating, Xia Shi rejected all his arrangements and joined the Bureau of Anomalous Affairs.

Xia Shude had thought their relationship was over—but what happened next was completely unexpected.

He treasured Xia Shi as a daughter, and Xia Shi cherished him as a father—only neither were good at expressing this.

When Xia Shi discovered Document 001 and recognized the remark as his handwriting, she flew into a rage, accusing him of being careless.

If Xia Shi didn’t care about him, how could she recognize his handwriting? If she didn’t care, why would she come find him to reprimand him?

But by the time he realized this, it was too late—

Xia Shi had been captured. The Seven‑Person Council found she was the alien’s ideal candidate. If he did nothing, he would lose the daughter who had walked with him for twenty years—forever.

“How could I watch this happen with open eyes?”

Xia Shude emitted a hoarse growl.

Whenever he closed his eyes, he could envision Xia Shi, even though she hated training, forcing herself to excel just to earn his approval.

From her childhood to now, he had owed Xia Shi too much.

“Xia Shi, wait for me. Even if it’s just me alone, I will find a way to save you!”

He resolved to give his all.

If he could rescue Xia Shi, great. If not, they would reunite in the afterlife.

Xia Shude changed into a special protective suit, stuffing it with various grenades, firearms, and daggers. With full preparation, he pushed open the villa door expressionlessly.

“Xia Shude?”

A voice suddenly spoke.

Xia Shude was shocked to find dozens of people standing at the doorway. At the front stood a girl wearing a black tight‑fitting combat suit, her long silver‑white ponytail waving behind her, full of heroic spirit.

He recognized her at a glance.

“Bai Fu!”

Xia Shude hurriedly drew his pistol and pointed it at Bai Fu.

Bai Fu ignored him. She grabbed Xia Shude’s pistol with one hand, twisted it into a tangled mass, and threw it into a nearby trash bin.

“I’m here to save Xia Shi. With your status, you should know where she is being held, right?”

“You…”

Xia Shude was stunned.

Bai Fu said she had come to rescue Xia Shi?

He believed that with Bai Fu’s identity and strength, there was no need to deceive him on this matter. Because of that, he couldn’t help but smile. If it was Bai Fu, she really could save Xia Shi, right?

All his strength drained away as if a floodgate had burst. His body slid down the cold door frame. Hands supporting the ground, he looked at the feet just inches away. His eyes were blurred by a mist of tears.

“Ha‑ha, ha‑ha.”

In the end, from Xia Shude’s hoarse throat came only monotonous, incoherent laughter.

At fifty years old, he had always cared deeply about his image. Only this time, overwhelmed, he didn’t care at all. Tears slid down his furrowed face, tracing years of hardship.

Bai Fu was completely bewildered. No way—was Xia Shude really so stunned by her tearing a gun apart bare‑handed?

Yulia, standing nearby, stepped forward. In Xia Shude she saw the shadow of Old Niesen.

“I understand how you feel, but now is not the time for emotional outbursts. First take us to wherever Xia Shi is being held.”

Xia Shude struggled to climb up from the ground. “Follow me.”

……

Under Xia Shude’s guidance, Bai Fu located the underground base hidden beneath the signal tower.

She blasted open the concealed door with a Psionic Burst, revealing a spiraling staircase descending into darkness with no visible end in sight.

“Good thing I went to find Xia Shude first. Otherwise, I really might not have found this underground base. Damn it, these Gene Primordials really know how to hide.”

Still burning with frustration, Bai Fu instructed Hei Fu to guard the signal tower entrance to prevent reinforcements, then led Yulia and a group of Players down the stairs to attack.

No need for nonsense. Just fight!

Doors?

Blast them!

Turrets popping out from the walls?

Blast them!

Hordes of Mutants rushing in?

Blast them all!

To sum up Bai Fu’s assault on the Gene Primordials’ underground base in one sentence—it was like “entering a land with no one guarding it.”

According to the strategy level suggested by the game officials, the difficulty of raiding the Gene Primordials’ underground base was lower than that of the Truth Society’s main base.

Back then, she had turned the Truth Society’s main base upside down. So what was this underground base in comparison?

【Damn, Fu-fu is way too fierce!】

【The monsters in this underground base don’t even stand a chance. Looks like we don’t have to do anything at all.】

【Heck yeah, this is the kind of fight I love—just follow behind Fu-fu and sip the soup she leaves behind, and I can happily level up!】

【Her combat power looks even stronger than when she attacked the Truth Society. Am I imagining things?】

No, it’s not your imagination!

Yulia, following closely behind Bai Fu, had noticed it. The strength Bai Fu now displayed was at least twice as strong as during her battle with the Truth Society President.

She was astounded. It had only been half a month—how had Bai Fu’s body grown so rapidly, allowing her power to double in such a short time?

“If I could thoroughly, from top to bottom, inch by inch, carefully study Bai Fu once and uncover the secret of her power growth, even if it cost me a few years of my life, it would be totally worth it!”

Yulia was practically trembling with excitement.

No Player around them could’ve imagined that the woman they saw as an ice queen, Yulia, was now burning with fanatic passion inside, her mind consumed by thoughts of how to best study Bai Fu.

Anyway, she decided to start by recording some footage. Once she was home, she would analyze Bai Fu’s combat movements frame by frame.

While Yulia focused her lens on Bai Fu’s waist, hips, and legs to gather research material, Bai Fu had already cut her way to the deepest level of the underground base and kicked a blocking door into pieces with one strike.

Boom!

The deafening sound instantly caught the attention of the Seven-Person Council members behind the door.

An elderly councilor turned around with an irritated expression. “What the hell? Didn’t I say not to bother us unless the sky’s falling? It hasn’t even been that long and you already—”

He never finished his sentence after seeing Bai Fu’s face clearly.

Bai Fu? No, why was Bai Fu here? Didn’t Pombaton say he’d do his best to keep Bai Fu out of Haidu? From the look of things, did he end up surrendering to her instead of stopping her?

In the circular base hall, the members of the Seven-Person Council felt their scalps go numb—as if the sky had fallen.

But that sensation didn’t last long, because Bai Fu raised the gun-shaped Shadow Staff in her hand.

Bang!

A psionic bullet shot out and struck one councilor squarely in the neck.

The explosion blew his head off on the spot. And with no head, he naturally no longer felt fear or scalp-numbing anxiety.

“Not bad.”

Bai Fu was very pleased with the Shadow Staff’s power.

She was pleased—but the remaining councilors were horrified.

They had always feared Bai Fu. Previously, they’d kept calm only because the location of the underground base hadn’t been exposed. Now that it had been, and Bai Fu had reached them, they had no will to resist left. Not all who held high positions were brave like the Truth Society President.

“Don’t kill me! I surrender! The Battle of Bagaros Base—it was Pombaton who ordered Basque to kill you! I’m innocent, I swear!”

“Right, it was all Pombaton’s fault! He misled us! I’ve always wanted to apologize to you. Honestly, there’s no need for us to fight to the death. With the resources we command, and your strength, we could easily make you the Queen of Origin Star with a little effort!”

“Please spare me, Your Majesty! As long as you let me live, you can do anything you want with me—use me as a stool, a footrest, a—”

Bang bang bang!

Bai Fu didn’t let them finish. She shot each of them once.

She hadn’t even bothered to talk when she killed Pombaton. These councilors were even less than him—why waste breath?

Now you beg for mercy when I’m right in front of you?

Give me a break. Be my footstool? You wish.

“Leave them to you.”

Bai Fu handed the three not-yet-cold councilors to the Players to handle, letting those who fought beside her earn some Quest Reward.

Upon receiving the order, the Players charged forward. Convert to My Fu was the fastest.

Old Deng, dreaming of being a stool or a footstool—ridiculous! Eat my salted fish lunge!

Just seconds later, the councilors who had dominated the wasteland for over twenty years were riddled with holes by Players.

A string of kill notifications popped up. Bai Fu stepped past the corpses and walked to the egg-shaped structure in the center of the hall. Though no one said anything, she knew—this had to be her ultimate target.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, a door suddenly opened on the egg-shaped structure.

Under the flickering lights, the last surviving member of the Seven-Person Council, a man named Satori, stepped out. The composure on his face was long gone.

His ambition had been so close to fruition—why had Bai Fu attacked now of all times?

Satori looked like a furious bull.

He was one step away from reaching the stars. He wouldn’t let Bai Fu shatter his dream.

“Bai Fu, this is your limit. You can’t save Xia Shi. You won’t kill Lord Starshatter. Once Lord Starshatter forcibly erases Xia Shi’s consciousness and revives, that’s when you’ll die!”

A surge of manic blood energy surged from deep within Satori's body. Stimulated by it, his body began to swell at a speed visible to the naked eye.

“Shapeshifting ability?”

As his body rapidly transformed, Satori’s attributes also began to rise. Halfway through the process, he even injected himself with a stimulant, causing the growth rate to surge even more.

In just a few seconds, Satori had gone from a seemingly ordinary Psionicist to someone whose stats were nearly comparable to the Truth Society President.

Now, he was terrifyingly strong!

Of course, that was just how he felt. The expansion of power often led to an overinflated sense of confidence.

Let alone the fact that this shapeshifted Satori still wasn't on par with the Truth Society President—even if he were, Bai Fu still wouldn’t have taken him seriously.

“You think I’m still the same as I was half a month ago?”

Bai Fu laughed.

Satori was stunned for half a second by this bizarre statement—just enough time for Bai Fu to suddenly flash before him using Streamlight Blink.

Dark Burn!

Bai Fu opened with a burst-type ultimate move.

With Yulia present to provide Mana Recharge at any time, there was no need to conserve her skills.

Empowered by the Shadow Staff, the triple hit from Dark Burn with a 195% bonus damage multiplier landed squarely on Satori’s face. He didn’t even comprehend what happened before he lost half his health bar.

He crashed into the outer wall of the egg-shaped structure, chest caved in, blood gushing from his mouth.

Agonizing pain tore through Satori’s consciousness, but he still forced himself to stand. He had to buy time for Lord Starshatter!

“Your opponent is me.”

Yulia stepped in front of Satori, opened her Psionic Field, and unceremoniously delivered a Sky Burial strike.

Satori sensed the danger and tried to dodge, but he hadn’t anticipated that Dark Burn would lower his stats. He understood, but his agility wasn’t enough to evade it.

The strike descended, leaving him dizzy and disoriented. He collapsed on the spot.

“Stop! Stop!”

Satori roared in fury, but his cries were meaningless. Bai Fu walked past him with steady steps, entering the egg-shaped structure that housed the alien soul.

Fear surged within him—if Lord Starshatter died...

Lying on the ground, Satori suddenly recalled the desperate screams of the Truth Society President who once lay before him. He had once thought that moment was the start of his own ascent—but perhaps that had already been his peak.

It was all Bai Fu’s fault. Who was it that gave rise to this monster named Bai Fu? Who gave her this power of undying allure? Who allowed her to possess such terrifying psionic aptitude?

Once again, Satori rose from the ground, only to be met by Yulia’s cold expression.

“To challenge Bai Fu, you’ll have to go through me first.”

Satori was helpless.

Inside the spacious room, Bai Fu looked around. She saw Xia Shi bound to a strange device. To its left was a massive glass capsule, inside which floated a soul that looked slightly different from a typical Origin Star resident.

After nearly a year of struggling on Origin Star, she had finally laid eyes on the indirect culprit behind the planet’s great catastrophe.

“You can’t kill me. I will complete my rebirth before you can. Then I’ll control that ship and blow you and your Sovereign of the Shadowed Night to pieces!”

A cold voice echoed through the room.

Bai Fu remained calm.

Using Psionic Vision, she could tell that Starshatter’s soul held no real combat power. His only defense lay in the sturdy walls and the machines crowding the egg-shaped chamber.

The walls were made of a special material—even Bai Fu wasn’t confident she could shatter them quickly. And the machines were no ordinary units. In unison, they could unleash power far beyond normal limits. They might not be able to drive Bai Fu off, but they could certainly stall for time.

Time—that was what Starshatter wanted.

“Too bad you ran into me—the one Psionicist least afraid of this kind of mechanical nonsense.”

Bai Fu clapped her hands.

Dear Players, show Starshatter the glory of the self-destruction tactic!

Under Bai Fu’s command, the Players lined up and charged into Starshatter’s mechanical forces one after another.

Satori, still blocked by Yulia, was fuming with rage but could do nothing. Just like some hapless victim in a certain kind of manga, all he could do was scream in anguish again and again.

“No, no, no! Bai Fu, you devil!”

After more than a hundred successive explosions, Starshatter’s mechanical units finally collapsed.

Bai Fu said, “Got anything else up your sleeve? If not, then it’s my turn!”

She raised the Shadow Staff. Psionic Bursts poured forth like a spring, instantly shattering the glass encasing Starshatter.

As shards flew everywhere, Starshatter suddenly shouted, “Psionic energy of the Dark attribute? No! That power doesn’t belong on this planet! Bai Fu, you’re not from Origin Star!”

“Hmm?”

Standing by the entrance, Digging Girl’s ears perked up. She seemed to have overheard something incredible!
