Chapter 113: Unlocking a High-level Class, Bai Fu’s Ultimate Ascension!

In Beyond the Stars, the upgrade from an Advanced Class to a High-level Class brought a far greater boost than the first Class Transfer ever did.

The first Class Transfer was akin to dragging a Player from a small village where they toiled with sweat, into the dazzling world to witness the limitless potential of Espers firsthand.

But the second Class Transfer... hmm, it should be more accurately described as an【Awakening】.

To complete this Awakening, the Player had to first accumulate an enormous amount of XP and a wealth of Profession Knowledge. Once prepared, they had to undergo a series of quests assigned by the game itself. Only after overcoming all 81 trials could one truly step onto the path of a “High-level Class.”

You reap what you sow. After so much early preparation, the resulting upgrade was naturally far greater than the first Class Transfer—otherwise, Players might just ride a horse side by side with the Developer.

Brimming with anticipation, Bai Fu poured all the XP she had just obtained into the 【Apprentice Psionic Illustrator】.

【You have unlocked a new class[Psionic Illustrator]. Current Level: Lv1. Physique +1, Intelligence +1, Inspiration +4, Attribute Points +4】

【You have completed your second Class Transfer. Each point of Physique now increases HP by +5, and Psionic Value by +5】

The moment the class changed from Apprentice Psionic Illustrator to Psionic Illustrator, Bai Fu felt a surge of entirely new power rise within her body.

It was invisible to the eye, but undeniably perceptible. The tremendous boost reminded her of the transformation she experienced upon successfully absorbing the Blood of Evolution Template. Under the wash of Psionic power, her life tier seemed to have finally stepped onto the path of evolution.

Was this why unlocking a High-level Class was so hard?

Upgrading Apprentice Psionic Illustrator by one level gave her 6 Attribute Points, whereas Psionic Illustrator gave 10 per level—and it now proactively added to Physique too.

Also, her Physique-to-HP conversion rate was now 1:25, and Psionic Value conversion had improved to 1:15.

The raised conversion rates directly caused a sharp spike in both her HP and Psionic Value. As her Psionic Value exceeded 1500, she triggered the third bonus from the Psionic Knowledge Chain, which in turn raised all her Stats again slightly.

Bai Fu quickly opened her interface to check her Stats.

【HP】: 2680/2680

【Psionic Value】: 1970/1970

【Qi】: 160/160

【Stats】: Strength 29, Agility 35, Physique 98, Intelligence 35, Spirit 32, Inspiration 128

Compared to before the level-up, her HP had increased by over 600, Psionic Value by nearly 700—it was an astronomical leap, like riding a rocket upward. Coupled with the new Talent【Psionic Devotion】and its healing effect, she could now tank so much she'd make her opponents cry.

Bai Fu closed her eyes. Even without using【Psionic Perception】, she could still sense the fine dust in the air, people moving nearby, and the curious gaze Su Li had suddenly thrown her way.

This was the benefit of higher Inspiration and Spirit Stats.

With another pulse of perception, she even discovered subtle changes in her own body—every inch of skin was smoother and whiter, every muscle more resilient, even her chest seemed to have lifted a bit. She’d have to examine herself thoroughly later.

“Solid!”

Even without considering the other changes brought by the Class Transfer, just the raw Stat increase had filled Bai Fu with confidence.

What damn Beast-mutated Mutant? So what if you had 2500 HP? I have 2680 now. If we fought again, I wouldn’t even need Hei Fu’s help—I’d blow you up myself!

Confident as she was, Bai Fu still felt relieved by her previous judgment.

Good thing she had been cautious enough not to foolishly challenge the Truth Society President herself. Otherwise, the stat difference from the High-level Class bonuses would’ve allowed him to crush her effortlessly.

Bai Fu closed the Stats panel and opened the other in-game notifications triggered by the Class Transfer.

After becoming a【Psionic Illustrator】, several of her existing Skills had improved.

【Intermediate Psionic Specialization】upgraded to【Advanced Psionic Specialization】: Psionic Knowledge learning efficiency and Psionic Skill effects +30%

【Basic Psionic Toughness】upgraded to【Intermediate Psionic Toughness】: Gain +5 Inspiration checks when attacked, Psionic Resistance +10%

【Psionic Shield】upgraded to【Psionic Protection】: Consumes Psionic Value to form a full-body shield worth (Psionic Value *2). Single shield max: 3000. Can be applied to others. Duration: 5 minutes. Cooldown: 12 seconds.

The first two upgrades were expected, but the Psionic Shield enhancement hit Bai Fu’s needs perfectly.

The Skill's effect was mostly unchanged, but now the shield could be applied to others too, making it far more practical—great for selling as Prayer Cards to Players.

In addition, Bai Fu unlocked two new passive Skills and one support Skill.

The two passive Skills were—

【Dexterous Hands (Psionic)】: Prayer Card crafting speed +30%

【Basic Prayer Enhancement Lv1】: Effects of Prayer Cards used by you +10%

The former dramatically boosted her card-making speed and helped her gain XP and income faster.

The latter was even more crucial. Using Prayer Cards counted as using items, not Skills, so they didn’t benefit from her previous Skill bonuses. But with this new passive, everything changed.

A Tiny Bai Fu's output +10%—with ten Tiny Bai Fus exploding together, it was like getting one more explosion for free.

If she could raise the level of this passive, her output bonus would only get stronger.

The new support Skill was—

【Dispel Lv1】: Consumes 30 Psionic Points to dispel one regular buff or debuff from the target. Cooldown: 10 seconds.

This Skill was quite handy. It could dispel Strength or Agility buffs from opponents or clear burns and other debuffs from herself. If used at the right moment, it could be life-saving.

Among all these upgrades, Bai Fu liked the final notification the most.

【You have comprehended the Skill[Dark Burn Lv1]】

【Dark Burn Lv1】: Consumes 10% of Psionic Value and 10% of HP to forcibly convert Psionic Attribute to【Dark】. Delivers three consecutive strikes, each dealing (Inspiration *1) Psionic Damage. Additionally, reduces all of target’s Stats by 0%–10% depending on Inspiration gap. Debuff lasts 10 minutes. Cooldown: 10 minutes.

(Note: Dark-attributed Psionic energy causes physical erosion, thus cannot be used consecutively.)

This was an active Skill, meaning it received the 130% damage bonus in calculations. With Bai Fu’s current Inspiration base, each of the three strikes dealt 883 unmitigated damage. Factoring in Extra-dimensional Erosion…

Bai Fu did a quick calculation: if the target had 3000 HP and was hit by all three strikes, followed by two more Psionic attacks and the full effects of Extra-dimensional Erosion, she could inflict over 1400 damage in seconds.

Of course, that was raw damage not accounting for mitigation, so the actual damage wouldn’t be that high. But paired with the debuff and Extra-dimensional Erosion’s explosive effect, this Skill reduced enemy Stats and Resistances, making it perfect for single targets with low Psionic Resistance and few damage-reduction traits.

“Though the cooldown is long—only usable once per fight—that’s more than enough. Duels between experts rarely last more than a few minutes. If it goes over ten, both sides must be tanky as hell.”

Bai Fu was in high spirits.

With Dark Burn, she effectively gained an ultimate move. This big move widened the gap between her and typical High-level Class Espers right after her class unlock.

“That’s our Regional Boss for you. If I didn’t have skills, how could I claim the title?”

Bai Fu figured that if she raised the levels of her under-leveled Skills and boosted her【Moonlit Dancer】Class, her power could increase by another few levels. The next time the Developer buffed her, she might upgrade from Regional Boss of the Goli Desert to World Boss of Origin Star.

Grind XP—she had to grind hard!

She could already foresee that with her involvement, Origin Star’s storyline progression would accelerate. While other Beginner Planet Players were still wheezing through Main Quests and planetary secrets, the Five Major Factions on Origin Star would be in full-scale war. The Protagonist and World Bosses would begin taking the stage in turn.

To prepare for that, she had to quickly grow stronger. One part was for survival; the other part was so she could claim more of the spoils in upcoming major events.

Just as Bai Fu closed all game notifications in excitement, Su Li had already walked up to her.

“You… okay? Why did you suddenly freeze there?”

Su Li stared at Bai Fu, full of confusion.

In truth, since entering the lab, Bai Fu had never left her sight. Yet now, Su Li had the feeling that Bai Fu had been replaced.

No—not replaced. In just those brief seconds, Bai Fu had become… more vivid.

This vividness appeared when Su Li used Qi to sense Bai Fu’s presence. Bai Fu suddenly felt less like a young girl and more like a dazzling, mature Big-sister leader—blindingly radiant.

Could someone really change so suddenly?

She couldn’t help but want to reach out and touch—but a strange fear kept her frozen.

“What could be wrong with me?” Bai Fu smiled warmly like a spring breeze. “Alright, don’t just stand around. Take a look around. We might find some valuable Truth Society intel they didn’t have time to destroy.”

Su Li nodded. That was true.

Although dismantling one secret Truth Society lab was already a huge win, who wouldn’t want extra credit?

The two went deeper into the lab. Like outside, it was wrecked with no intact equipment. Only a Mutant stood there dazed. Behim from the Old Republic and Ding Hongtao from the Human Alliance were interrogating him, but he kept silent, unyielding—until Bai Fu appeared.

“The President wants to speak with you. Here’s the temporary Terminal Device contact number he left.”

The Mutant spoke a string of digits. As soon as the words left his lips, his eyes dimmed. He collapsed, lifeless.

At that moment, everyone’s gaze focused on Bai Fu.
