Chapter 112: Complete the Class Transfer Quest, the Path to the Pinnacle!

“President, urgent news!”

Just after returning to the laboratory, the Truth Society President received a piece of downright terrible news.

Far away at the Truth Society Headquarters, the Minister of the Combat Unit, Bernardo, had received top-secret intelligence from Special Agents infiltrated within the Railway Guild’s territory. An hour and a half ago, the Railway Guild’s upper echelon had suddenly convened an emergency meeting. Attendees included the current Chairman of the Railway Guild, the former Chairman, the Army Commander-in-Chief, the Minister of the Intelligence Division Zhou Hailong, and the Director of External Communications of the Undying Ones, Su Li.

These people had held a half-hour meeting inside a highly secure and confidential room. Right after the meeting ended, the Railway Guild began mobilizing immediately.

It was said that even the elite Special Agents of the Railway Guild who were on vacation received orders and were forced to cut their holidays short to gather at the military camp on the western border of the Railway Guild.

Half an hour after the mobilization order was issued, the troops in the capital of the Railway Guild completed their assembly and boarded armed helicopters, rapidly heading to the military camp to pick up the Special Agents arriving from other regions.

Not only that, but Special Agents of the Truth Society who had infiltrated the Human Alliance territory also unexpectedly gathered urgent intelligence.

Reportedly, at the same time the Railway Guild issued its mobilization notice, the Human Alliance and the Old Republic also received invitations to cooperate in a joint operation. Due to the tight schedule, neither the Human Alliance nor the Old Republic dispatched large forces, but even the elite Special Agents they sent were enough to make any major faction nervous.

What kind of person or force required three major powers to mobilize so many personnel simultaneously?

Bernardo racked his brains but could only think of the Truth Society itself. Therefore, he immediately reported the information to the President, who was at the Marsk Laboratory.

Recalling what had just happened, the President’s face turned as dark as the bottom of a pot.

Although there was no direct evidence, he was now one hundred percent certain that this group was coming for the Marsk Laboratory.

“Bai Fu, Bai Fu, Bai Fu……”

He kept chanting the name, the more he said it, the angrier he became.

He had never imagined that someone he once regarded as a minor character could bring him so much trouble.

First, she interfered at the Abandoned Cooling Plant, delaying the research progress of the Blood of Evolution activation serum. Then she captured Li Cheng at the Lynn Settlement, likely alerting the Gene Primordials to his true identity. Afterward, she assaulted the Black Hawk Base, causing significant damage to the Truth Society, and now she had exposed the location of the Marsk Laboratory, resulting in the Railway Guild spearheading an attack.

The President could only be thankful that before the Marsk Laboratory was discovered, the final verification of the new Mutant experiment had already been completed, and it could now enter official production. Otherwise, even at the risk of compromising the final plan, he would have led a team to the Goli Desert himself to utterly crush Bai Fu and her Garden of Silence into dust.

“Who exactly is she?”

Bai Fu’s true identity was definitely not simple.

He had once suspected that Bai Fu was a Special Agent secretly nurtured by the Gene Primordials, but based on the abilities she had displayed thus far, that was clearly impossible.

“Bernardo, investigate her. Have the Intelligence Division dig into it. Right, send those Undying Ones who defected to us to investigate too. We must uncover Bai Fu’s true identity!”

“Ah? Yes, sir!”

Bernardo was briefly stunned upon receiving the order, but immediately complied.

When this order reached the ears of the Players, a new storm began to brew, though not many were paying attention just yet.

The President ended his call with Bernardo and officially issued the retreat order.

A massive amount of lab equipment had to be destroyed, which pained him, but it was a necessary sacrifice.

All of it, for the Final Plan!

The President’s gaze pierced through the laboratory doors, looking out at the boundless starry sky.

“Now, I only need one last piece. As long as I can uncover the secrets on Yulia, no one in this world will be able to stop me!”

Invincible—what a wonderful word.

“Pan Yunyi, release that Test Subject. Let those who are about to arrive test his true strength.”

……

While members of the Marsk Laboratory fretted over the emergency evacuation, Bai Fu was troubled too.

The just-triggered Class Transfer Quest 【Proof of Courage】 was a very special quest. It had three branches, but completing any one of them would count as completing the entire quest.

【Branch 1. Kill a target with a total level of no less than 38】

【Branch 2. Collect three [Purple] quality rare Prayer Card Blueprints】

【Branch 3. Collect an additional Psionic Knowledge Chain】

【Quest Reward: 300,000 XP, one random Talent or Passive Skill, qualification to advance to an Advanced Class】

The rewards for the quest were quite generous.

300,000 XP might not seem like much, but the random Talent or Passive Skill from the additional rewards was excellent.

The only issue was that Bai Fu was experiencing decision paralysis when facing this quest.

Branch 1 was straightforward combat, but finding a monster with a total level of no less than 38 was no easy task. She had roamed the Goli Desert for months without seeing a single Sandworm that powerful.

Branch 2 was a collection-type quest. Although the requirement for Purple-grade wasn't particularly high, among all the Prayer Card Blueprints she currently possessed, only 【Penetrating Spear】 was of Purple quality. She had no idea how long it would take or how much XP she’d have to spend to collect three more.

Branch 3 was also a collection quest. Considering how difficult it was to collect Psionic Knowledge Chains before, she didn’t think she could achieve this goal anytime soon.

“No wonder it’s a Class Transfer Quest for an Advanced Class—none of the branches are easy.”

Bai Fu couldn’t help but complain.

However, compared to ordinary NPCs who had to “comprehend” on their own to break through bottlenecks, and compared to ordinary Players who could only raise their Main Class to level 25 at most for now, she still felt pretty lucky.

“No need to force a choice now. I’ll see when the time comes.”

She’d just have to tough it out. No matter how troublesome it was, a month would be enough for her to complete the Class Transfer Quest.

Bai Fu closed the Quest Panel. Suddenly, her Personal Terminal vibrated. A message had arrived—it was from Su Li.

【You there?】

Bai Fu replied: 【You're not messaging me now just to tell me you’re about to dispatch troops, are you?】

【Bet you don’t know where I am right now or who’s with me】

Su Li seemed a little smug.

Riddle-speaker, get lost!

Bai Fu’s face darkened: 【If you don’t spill, I’ll block you】

【Ayy, fine, I’ll talk】

Su Li rolled her eyes in exasperation.

【We set out half an hour ago. We’re currently picking people up. Once we’ve gathered everyone, we’ll fly straight to the Marsk Wasteland. After joining up with the Human Alliance and the Railway Guild outside the Wasteland, we’ll head to the location you gave us. At that time, I and the other elite Special Agents will form the vanguard and rendezvous with you first. The fastest would be in about one hour】

Bai Fu did some calculations—unless they only evacuated the personnel and left everything else behind, there was absolutely no way the people at the Marsk Laboratory could finish retreating within an hour.

This was good news. By following behind the coalition forces, she might be able to scoop up some more benefits.

However, it was clearly impossible to kill the Truth Society President here. Everything was far too rushed. The Truth Society President had ample time to escape. Even if he didn’t flee immediately, with so few people arriving, they couldn’t possibly stop him.

Although she couldn’t see his exact stats, Bai Fu was certain he must have a damage reduction Talent or Skill. Otherwise, the damage Hei Fu had dealt with her life wouldn't have been so low.

【Exact coordinates are..., don’t mess it up. I’ll try to stall for you all a bit longer】

Bai Fu sent over an accurate coordinate.

During the earlier battle, Hei Fu and most of the Players had been wiped out. Now, only a dozen or so weaker Players remained by her side—like the War Reporter Excavation‑Princess.

“You all…”

Bai Fu turned around, ready to instruct Excavation‑Princess and the others to go spook the folks inside the Marsk Laboratory again. But when she saw their expressions, she was startled.

What the heck?

All the Players wore faces full of grief, as if the doctor had just issued them a critical illness notice.

“What’s wrong with you all?” Bai Fu asked.

Excavation‑Princess tried to suppress the gloom in her heart: “Fu‑Fu… sigh, I know you must be feeling stifled right now, so hurt you just want to die.”

Why would I feel hurt or want to die?

Bai Fu was baffled, feeling like these Players were staging some “stand against the world for her” drama.

“I don’t even know how to comfort you. After all, your dearest little sister just died—died at the hands of the Truth Society’s people. The only thing I can do is promise you that we’ll definitely avenge her. So don’t act rashly now, just leave everything to us!”

As she spoke, Excavation‑Princess exchanged a glance with the other Players. Then, like fearless interstellar warriors, they resolutely walked into the long night, heading for the distant Marsk Laboratory.

“???”

Bai Fu had finally figured out why Excavation‑Princess and the others were acting like this—because she had deliberately left things vague, the Players had always assumed Hei Fu was her twin sister. And since Hei Fu was just shattered by the Truth Society President earlier, many of them mistakenly thought Hei Fu had died.

A powerful and important-looking NPC suddenly died—damn, it hit right in the feels!

As soon as Bai Fu opened Excavation‑Princess’s livestream, she found the live‑stream room was already in utter chaos, flooded with Garden of Silence Members and lurkers going hysterical.

【Nooo, Fu-sis, my Fu-sis, how could you die?! (Tiny Bai Fu sobbing emoji)】

【Developers, you heartless fiends—why did you design such a strong mob? Fu-sis, you died so tragically!】

【Sigh, Fu‑Fu must be mentally breaking down right now. I hope nothing happens to her】

【Why?! The mighty second Warden of the Stars just gone like that?】

Some Players were even holding a cyber funeral for Hei Fu inside Excavation‑Princess’s livestream room.

Bai Fu: “……”

So surreal?

She scrolled through the community. The vibe there was a little different—most Players were mourning Hei Fu’s death or feeling stunned. But a few expressed regret.

Why did Hei Fu die instead of Bai Fu? If Bai Fu had died, all Players would’ve been back on equal footing. What a pity!

The corner of Bai Fu’s mouth twitched.

Go ahead and laugh. In a minute, you won’t be able to laugh anymore!

Let’s just say things had gotten utterly ridiculous, but with Excavation‑Princess and the others charging the Marsk Laboratory on their own, Bai Fu didn’t need to issue another quest.

They may be weak, but their arrival did give the lab folks a real scare. Thinking they were surrounded, they immediately stopped what they were doing and went on high alert.

This situation lasted for quite a while before those inside the lab realized something was off.

Damn it, they’d been played!

They beat the crap out of Excavation‑Princess and the others, sending them flying back to the Goli Desert.

“President, there’s no time to lose. You should leave first.”

The Truth Society President didn’t argue. Taking important data and research personnel with him, he evacuated the lab by land.

More than forty minutes later, Su Li did indeed arrive with her team. Their auras were erratic, their foreheads drenched in sweat—they had clearly pushed themselves to the limit with zero rest along the way.

Understandably so—what awaited them was the Truth Society President and a hidden Truth Society laboratory!

“This is Behim, Deputy Minister of the Old Republic’s Intelligence Division…”

“This is Ding Hongtao, Director of the Human Alliance’s Bureau of Anomalous Affairs…”

Su Li quickly introduced the identities of the Special Agents to Bai Fu. As she spoke, Bai Fu cast Psionic Vision in a wide sweep.

Elite truly meant elite—even the weakest Special Agent here had a total level of 31, and the strongest among them had already unlocked Advanced Classes.

A true gathering of heroes!

Behim, wearing a face etched with pain and hatred, cut Su Li off.

“Enough talking—we’ll chat later. Let’s head to that lab now. I’m dying to dismember that Truth Society President!”

The others nodded in agreement, each one throwing out fierce declarations.

Bai Fu really wanted to snark back—look at that level gap. If it came down to a fight, the Truth Society President might just twist your heads off.

“Be careful. Don’t say I didn’t warn you if you end up dead,” Bai Fu said to Su Li.

Su Li nodded.

She and Bai Fu were in somewhat similar positions. Although her rank had recently improved, her seniority and strength didn’t carry much weight among these old geezers, so few people paid attention to what she said.

And just like that, Bai Fu followed the main force as they marched toward the Marsk Laboratory.

No one was paying her much attention now, which suited her just fine—she was happily keeping to the rear.

She had already stolen the spotlight in front of the Truth Society. If she tried to slink forward now, wouldn’t that be walking straight into a beating? That wasn’t in her interest.

Her current plan was to finish the Class Transfer Quest first. Once she unlocked an Advanced Class, she’d clear both Main Quests. And when those were done, she’d basically be invincible on this Beginner Planet.

With a bunch of professionals clearing the path, Bai Fu didn’t need to expend any effort sneaking to the vicinity of the Marsk Laboratory.

The Truth Society President had already fled, but some lab members hadn’t managed to escape in time. They never expected the coalition to arrive so quickly—they had originally planned to wipe all experimental data and equipment clean before leaving.

“Surrender and you won’t be killed!” Behim shouted.

His words received no response.

The laboratory gates stood wide open, like a slumbering beast instilling unease.

A Mechanic stepped forward: “Leave it to me.”

He deployed a swarm of micro-detection machines and began attempting to breach the laboratory’s network to disable its defense systems.

While he worked, the others didn’t remain idle either. They demonstrated impressive professionalism, laying traps around the lab or launching all sorts of ranged attacks at it.

However, no matter what they did, the people inside the lab simply refused to come out—clearly intending to live and die with the lab.

“Fools!”

Behim was seething with killing intent.

Just then, the Mechanic shouted, “I’ve successfully infiltrated the internal system of the lab. Hold on, I’ll pull up the surveillance feed.”

Everyone leaned in, Bai Fu included.

The terminal screen flickered a few times, and then a wide corridor appeared. But no one was looking at the corridor—everyone’s attention was focused on the monster emerging from its depths.

It was a creature with a grotesquely swollen and twisted body like a fierce beast, though much of its head still retained a humanoid shape!

“What the hell is that?!”

Even Bai Fu felt nauseous at the sight of the monster’s bizarre appearance.

“It’s coming—its target is us!”

The Mechanic suddenly shouted. The screen flipped rapidly, and everyone watched helplessly as the monster moved through corridor after corridor, eventually appearing near the lab entrance.

【Beast-mutated Mutant No.1 (BOSS)】

【Template】: Beast-mutated Mutant

【Main Class】: Savage Beast Warrior Lv19 [Sub Class Lv10], Truth Hunter Lv2 [Sub Class Special Agent Lv10]

【HP】: 2500/2500

This was a level 41 BOSS with an HP of 2500 and absurdly high Constitution and all kinds of resistances. Its threat level was red—extremely dangerous!

Bai Fu’s pupils constricted sharply.

This BOSS had high resistance—she couldn’t easily deal with it without Hei Fu. But she was currently surrounded by a group of battle-hardened men and women. As long as she followed behind them and finished off the beast-mutated mutant, she could complete her Class Transfer Quest.

Disgust turned to delight in the span of a single Psionic Vision cast.

As the Mutant lunged forward, Bai Fu felt no fear or anxiety—only pure joy and gratitude toward the Truth Society President.

She’d been troubled about where to find a monster of level 38 or higher, and here came the President delivering one right to her. She was willing to crown the Truth Society President as her new number one Big Bro.

The beast-mutated mutant launched a frenzied assault. Bai Fu circled the outskirts, occasionally tossing a Fanaticism or Chain Reaction to buff the others. Only when she saw the monster’s aggro completely focused on the NPCs did she sneak in a few pot shots to grab some contribution.

This freeloading behavior actually made a few people start doubting her strength.

So this is the new Queen of the Dark Realm?

Bai Fu didn’t care in the slightest. When the Mutant took some damage and got pinned down in an awkward spot, she suddenly cast Battle Etiquette on it.

Under Battle Etiquette’s control, the Mutant was immobilized and could only watch as the surrounding group unleashed a barrage of attacks on it.

“Grrraaah——”

It let out a beast-like wail that even shook the ground.

But it was all in vain—two fists couldn’t beat a hundred. Everyone piled on: punches, kicks, bullets, qi strikes. At last, they killed the beast-mutated mutant.

As the beast-mutated mutant fell, Behim and the others didn’t relax at all.

This was a type of monster they had never seen before—formidable enough to temporarily withstand attacks from even Advanced Class Special Agents.

If the Truth Society only had one of these monsters, it was still manageable. But if there were more…

Ominous clouds loomed, crisis everywhere!

Only Bai Fu was silently overjoyed. She received a game notification.

【Beast-mutated Mutant No.1 has been killed. Contribution: 4.2%. After level-based adjustment, you’ve gained 8400 XP】

【You’ve completed the Hidden Quest [Beast], Reward: 200,000 XP】

【You’ve completed the Class Advancement Quest [Proof of Courage], Reward: 300,000 XP...】

Bai Fu immediately selected the random Talent or Passive reward.

Her luck was good today—if not now, then when?

【Drawing random Talent or Passive Skill】

【Draw complete】

【1. Repeated Trick (Passive) - When casting an active Psionic Skill, has a 5% chance to automatically cast it again】

【2. Life Overload (Talent) - Blessed by psionics. Out of combat, if HP is at 100%, automatically generates a Psionic Shield equal to 10% max HP】

【3. Psionic Devotion (Talent) - For every True Spirit summon on the field, +1 Inspiration (max +30). You may sacrifice a True Spirit to heal 25 HP (max 30 sacrificed, 120s cooldown)】

Bai Fu skimmed quickly and passed on Repeated Trick right away. As a Psionic Prayer-user focused on cards, passives, and talents, it wasn’t her style.

She hesitated between Life Overload and Psionic Devotion.

Life Overload had solid potential, essentially giving her a bonus 10% HP ceiling. Psionic Devotion wasn’t bad either—offering both stat boosts and healing.

Considering she already had a Psionic Shield skill, she ultimately chose Psionic Devotion.

While Psionic Devotion didn’t scale as well long-term as Life Overload, its current combat value was clearly higher. That’s what she needed right now. As for Life Overload-style skills or talents, she could farm those later.

【You’ve acquired [Psionic Devotion (Talent)]】

A game prompt chimed.

Bai Fu exhaled deeply. Now, she was just over 300,000 XP away from unlocking her Advanced Class. For her, grinding that much XP would take just seven or eight days at most.

But she clearly underestimated today’s haul. The massive Marsk Laboratory held far more valuable loot than expected.

Though a lot of the equipment had either been taken or blown up, and much of the lab data was destroyed, some traces simply couldn’t be erased in such a short time.

Inside the bombed-out Lab No. 1, Bai Fu found a blueprint that hadn’t yet been shredded.

The blueprint looked crude. Most people wouldn’t have noticed anything off even if they picked it up. But Bai Fu was different—at a glance, she saw that the creature drawn on it looked exactly like the Psionic Primordial in the research institute in the Goli Desert.

So the Truth Society really was inextricably linked to that Psionic Research Institute!

【You’ve completed Hidden Main Quest 【Would-be Savior】 Branch 2 [Test Subjects], Reward: 300,000 XP】

【You’ve triggered the follow-up quest [Another Psionic Primordial]】

【Quest Objective: Locate and destroy the Truth Society’s other hidden Psionic Primordial. Reward based on contribution】

Bai Fu took a deep breath. “Still need 30,000 XP.”

Her gaze locked onto a few remaining Truth Society members who were still putting up a last-ditch resistance.

As several Tiny Bai Fus exploded in the crowd, the world fell into peace and quiet.

Bai Fu glanced at her remaining XP. Months of travel, thousands of miles, countless powerful enemies—all of it condensed into the sweetest fruit at this very moment—

She had opened the road to the pinnacle of Origin Star!

“Level up!”
