When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster

Chapter 287: He Has Been Waiting for Her to Speak

Chapter 287: He Has Been Waiting for Her to Speak

Actually, the most important thing right now is Rachel Sherman’s matter, thought Faye Turner, feeling very anxious for her bullied best friend.

She wished she could punch Dylan Shaw to death, but unfortunately, this is a society governed by law.

So, she checked the time and called Rachel, "Hey, Rachel, are you asleep?"

"No, I’ve got some good news for you. I can be discharged from the hospital tomorrow." Rachel’s tone was relaxed, trying not to worry her.

Thinking about how Dylan Shaw had beaten her into the hospital, Faye felt very sad, "Did Dylan Shaw come to see you these days...?"

"No." The woman on the other end of the phone sighed softly, "I’m completely heartbroken. Really, I have no hope in him, and there’s no way I’ll go back. I have to get this divorce."

"Mm-hmm."

"Once I finish interviewing President Lancaster, I can get a permanent position. Then I can directly sue him. He hasn’t found a job yet, so he can’t possibly get custody of June. My mom has also agreed to help me take care of the child."

"Mm-hmm."

"Faye, I only have a little bruise left on my face. It’ll probably be gone by tomorrow or the day after, and it won’t be noticeable with concealer. When does President Lancaster have time?" Rachel was quite anxious about the work matter.

The pressure was on Faye again. She asked softly, "Could you pick a location? Then check your schedule. It’d be best if it’s an enclosed space where you can close the door."

A plan was forming in Faye’s mind.

"Alright! Did he agree?" Rachel was quite pleased, "I’ll let you know tomorrow afternoon, okay? Interviewing President Lancaster is an honor I can’t just choose any place and must show my respect for him."

"Alright, okay," Faye responded softly.

The two sisters chatted for a while longer and ended the call.

Just as she put down her phone, feeling heavy-hearted, Adrian Lancaster opened the door and entered, "Haven’t slept yet?" His voice was gentle, but with a hint of coolness.

Faye looked up, unable to see any trace of a smile on his handsome face. She wanted to speak about Rachel’s situation but didn’t have the courage.

"Faye Turner, is there nothing you want to say to me?" Adrian Lancaster approached the bed, starting to undo his tie, with his back turned to her.

Faye looked up from her book, hesitated for a moment, and then spoke, "I really want to thank you today. My mom was very happy, and I am too."

Not a word about Rachel’s matter?

Adrian Lancaster frowned slightly and glanced at her.

Their eyes met, and it seemed she truly had nothing more to say.

Was she not planning to speak about Rachel’s matter?

Adrian Lancaster was puzzled. Didn’t she say the editor-in-chief would fire Rachel? Wasn’t it said that only with a job could she fight for custody of her child?

What?

Suddenly, she didn’t care about the job anymore?

Adrian Lancaster felt a chill in his heart; he had been eagerly waiting for her to speak, even imagining the scene countless times in his mind.

Faye saw he was obviously lost in thought and felt confused. He wanted her to speak, she expressed her gratitude, yet he stayed silent, what did it mean?

"Alright, let’s sleep." Coming back to his senses, Adrian Lancaster took his pajamas and went into the bathroom.

He felt a bit annoyed, not knowing why he insisted on waiting for her to speak. Perhaps he just wanted to see her pleading expression once again.

But frankly, Adrian Lancaster was no longer opposed to Rachel having an exclusive interview with him.

The next morning.

Rachel was discharged, holding June at the hospital entrance and about to call a taxi when she saw a familiar car stop in front of her.

Dylan Shaw got out, and Rachel reflexively held her child tightly, showing a look of fear.
