When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster

Chapter 288: Stirring Up Trouble Right Under the Boss’s Nose

Chapter 288: Stirring Up Trouble Right Under the Boss’s Nose

Dylan Shaw slammed the car door and stood expressionlessly in front of his wife. Their daughter, June, looked at him with a face full of unfamiliarity.

Perhaps it was because Dad rarely paid attention to The Xavier Family, so their half-year-old daughter wasn’t very familiar with him.

Dylan Shaw, who had been beaten up by Adrian Lancaster, wasn’t much better off, with a bruise still on the corner of his mouth. "Get in the car, I’m here to take you home." His voice was cold.

Rachel Sherman just stared at him for a long time, her mind filled with thoughts and emotions, but not a single intention to save this marriage.

Dylan, seeing that she ignored him, reached out and pulled at her, "Come on, let’s go." Then he turned and opened the back seat door.

Rachel thought for a moment, and still got in the car with the child.

Throughout the drive, the two did not exchange a word. The car headed home, perhaps their feelings for each other had been completely worn away.

Dylan actually had something to say to her, but didn’t know how to start. That "I’m sorry" was stuck in his throat.

Just then, Vivian Sawyer’s call came in again. Dylan glanced at the caller ID and hung up.

In the next second, the ringtone went off again; it was still her.

This time, Dylan answered, in front of Rachel, "What’s up?" He lowered his voice.

"I want to see you, I miss you. Can we meet tonight?" Vivian’s coquettish voice came through.

Dylan hadn’t been in a good mood since he couldn’t find a job.

And the car was very quiet, even without the speakerphone on, Rachel could hear the woman’s request from the other end of the phone.

She held the child tightly, looking very calm.

"Is it OK?" Vivian asked again, waiting for his answer, "Meet at the usual place? Have dinner together?"

Dylan replied perfunctorily, feeling a bit annoyed, "We’ll see, I have some things to do now, I’ll contact you later."

After speaking, he hung up.

This made Rachel coldly laugh inside. It seemed that the relationship between the two wasn’t that special. So, what is love?

But she didn’t have much emotion about it, holding the child, she turned to look out the window and soon stopped thinking about these trivial matters.

As her thoughts drifted, Rachel suddenly thought of a very suitable place to interview President Lancaster. It was a niche café, elegantly decorated, and a bit secluded.

Most importantly, she was friends with the café’s owner and could book the whole venue.

Thinking of this, after returning home, Rachel settled June and then called Faye Turner, telling her she thought of a place to meet with President Lancaster.

Then she went to the newspaper office. On the way, she called the editor-in-chief to inform him about it.

The editor-in-chief was very pleased, having already prepared the interview questions and was waiting for Rachel to come for a face-to-face discussion.

Prestige Group.

At this time, Faye Turner took the elevator to the 22nd floor.

She stood in front of the CEO’s office, mustered up the courage to knock, and then stepped in.

Adrian Lancaster was sitting at his desk. Seeing her, he was a bit surprised, "What’s the matter?"

Dustin Shepherd wasn’t around, and she didn’t know if he was busy, "Grandpa wants to see you at the Duck Pear Café at ten in the morning."

"Grandpa?" Adrian looked up in confusion and asked her, "Why didn’t Grandpa call me himself? Why meet at a café?"

"You’ll know once you go," Faye gave him a look, raising her tone, "Since Grandpa asked me to convey this, he must have his reasons!"

"..." Adrian’s handsome face showed no extra expression, he just looked at her like that.

"President Lancaster, you can get back to work. I won’t disturb you." She smiled at him before leaving, "Grandpa must have a surprise for you, so don’t miss it, go on time. Oh, and Grandpa said for you to go alone."

After Faye left, Adrian really couldn’t figure out what Grandpa wanted with him. Why couldn’t he just call? And why couldn’t he say it over the phone?

Did it really have to be this girl passing the message?

But Adrian didn’t think too much about it because, well, it was Grandpa. Naturally, he didn’t dare to be negligent, so he postponed a meeting and prepared to head over.
