Chapter 282: Happiness Is Priceless
Chapter 282: Happiness Is Priceless
Actually, not only was Faye Turner dumbfounded, but even Miss Lane and Mr. Rhodes were stunned!
Because none of them had ever seen Mr. Lancaster dressed like this before.
"You all chat, I’ll go check the kitchen." Adrian Lancaster stepped downstairs, giving everyone a warm glance, and headed straight to the kitchen once he was downstairs.
Faye Turner withdrew her gaze, suddenly considering the possibility that Adrian Lancaster was trying to temper his aura as much as possible.
Chloe Gable gradually recovered her senses and quietly asked, "Faye, is he usually good to you?" Realizing her worries might have been unnecessary.
"Yes." The girl smiled happily, her silky black hair covering her cheek, "Did you see the news? He lined up to buy me dumplings today."
"Number one on the trending list!" Milo Turner interjected, "The nation’s best brother-in-law!"
"I saw, I saw. Mom’s a bit worried, though, if he might struggle to adjust to this kind of life. He never used to be in the news." Chloe Gable hoped her daughter would be happy, so she was always cautiously worrying about this and that.
"He’ll adapt." Faye Turner replied with a smile, "We’ve already married, which is an unchangeable fact. If the media wants to take pictures, that’s something we can’t control."
"Faye, Mom genuinely hopes you can be happy." Chloe Gable didn’t want to burden her with trouble.
"Don’t worry, we will be. All of us will be happy." Faye Turner comforted with a smile, "Look, life is already getting better and better, isn’t it?"
The busy kitchen was filled with the aroma of food, with several chefs dressed in white working swiftly.
Adrian Lancaster looked at the prepared dishes, and those still cooking in the pot, raising his brow, "Is this really all the menu my wife gave you?"
Braised eggplant, pepper fried meat, egg soup, a fish, pea sprouts...
"Yes, Mr. Lancaster." The head chef replied, "Just some home-style stir-fries, nothing else."
Adrian Lancaster considered for a moment but said nothing, ultimately feeling that it wasn’t quite right.
It’s the first time inviting his mother-in-law over for a meal, isn’t there a hospitality etiquette?
"Is there any other food at home right now?" He asked after a while.
"There isn’t any. Do you need us to purchase something now?"
The Lancaster Family never stocks up on supplies; everything they eat and use is freshly purchased daily to ensure the freshness of their ingredients.
But if they shopped now, it would be too late.
Just then, Faye Turner arrived behind Adrian Lancaster. The head chef greeted her, and Adrian Lancaster turned to look at her, "Isn’t this menu a little too far-fetched?"
"What’s wrong? Is there a problem?" Faye Turner asked, looking bewildered.
The man furrowed his brow, "Just these? Using these to host your mom and brother??"
Faye Turner was slightly stunned, but from his deep eyes, she saw his love for her family.
"Didn’t you say to list what mom likes to eat?" She smiled, her laughter bright and untainted, "These are all her favorites."
He was a little at a loss for words.
"In your eyes, perhaps these dishes can’t be regarded as much, but for us, having chicken, duck, and fish all on the table at once is a meal one can only enjoy on holidays. Having grown up with less, you probably can’t understand."
Though she showed a smile, her words caused an aching feeling in Adrian Lancaster’s heart.
"Mom rarely eats grand meals, so she doesn’t have much awareness or preference for your usual delicacies."
"But are you sure this is appropriate?" He squinted and asked, "Her son-in-law is Adrian Lancaster! This whole table doesn’t even amount to 500 bucks! And today is her birthday, even more special than a holiday."
"Happiness is priceless." Faye Turner was incredibly grateful, her eyes shining brightly, "You agreeing to my request already makes me very happy, and mom’s happy too. She even bought a new dress for today."
