Chapter 829: Go Back and Wait for Me! (9)
Of course, intimacy after a long separation was inevitable.
Jiayu didn’t even know when she fell asleep.
All she knew was that when she opened her eyes again, the sky outside was already dark.
Her waist ached, her hands ached, her arms ached, her whole body ached. She groggily grabbed the small clock on the bedside table and glanced at it; it was almost six o’clock.
Jiayu lay there for a while longer before slowly getting up.
She felt a bit sticky, so she took a quick shower and changed into her plush loungewear before opening the door to go out, greeted by the fragrant aroma of food wafting in from outside.
Mu Ke, wearing an apron, was just putting a bowl of soup on the table. Seeing her, he smiled gently, "Awake? Perfect timing, come eat."
Jiayu walked over to the dining table and sat down. Mu Ke had made home-cooked dishes as usual, with just one spicy dish, but they were all dishes she liked.
Jiayu picked up a piece of spicy chicken and put it in her mouth.
The spicy, savory flavor paired with the rice was pure satisfaction.
How long had it been since she last ate Mu Ke’s cooking?
A week? A month?
No, it felt like a long time, as if a century had passed.
Eating this familiar taste, Jiayu looked at the person across from her. From the moment he appeared in her life until now, he had never changed. He didn’t slack off because she agreed to be with him, nor did he doubt her because of all the messy things.
Jiayu pressed her lips together; this was indeed great.
Wherever Mu Ke was, he never let Jiayu do any housework, but today, Jiayu wanted to do something herself.
After eating, she approached the kitchen and rolled up her sleeves, "I’ll do the dishes."
Mu Ke frowned, "Go wait for me, I’ll be quick."
Jiayu shook her head, "Don’t underestimate me, I can do it."
Seeing her with such a serious look, Mu Ke couldn’t help but laugh. He took out rubber gloves from the cupboard for her, allowing her to have her way.
Clearly, Jiayu overestimated her own dexterity, and Mu Ke underestimated her ability to cause chaos.
Maybe she squeezed too much dish soap, or maybe the rubber gloves were inconvenient; before Mu Ke could sit in the living room, he heard a crash from the kitchen. He rushed over to see the floor already covered with shattered ceramic.
Great, she broke the first dish she washed.
Jiayu smiled awkwardly, "Just an accident."
Mu Ke silently retrieved a broom to clean up the mess. He had just put the broom away when he heard another crash.
Miss Sheng felt even more embarrassed, lowering her head. She really didn’t do it on purpose, but somehow, the dish just flew out.
Mu Ke couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore. He wrapped her in his arms, seeing Jiayu’s face blushing in embarrassment, his smile broadened, "It’s not your fault, it’s just that this dish was too fragile."
Jiayu: "..."
Is this supposed to be comforting?
But why does it sound worse than no comfort at all!
The dish isn’t durable? How could a porcelain dish be durable?
Mu Ke took off Jiayu’s gloves, swiftly took care of the mess, then pulled Jiayu to sit on the sofa with him.
