Chapter 830: Go Back and Wait for Me! (10)
Since meeting Mu Ke in the morning, they hadn’t mentioned the recent events. Now sitting on the sofa, Jiayu leaned on Mu Ke’s leg, and the two finally started to talk.
"How’s your mom doing?"
"She’s fine now."
"I heard from Mu Xin... that you were on a hunger strike?"
Mu Ke frowned slightly, showing a hint of dissatisfaction: "Too talkative."
This was obviously about Mu Xin. Jiayu tugged at his sleeve: "Don’t say that about her; she’s just worried about you."
Mu Ke held her hand in return and brought it to his lips for a gentle kiss: "It’s all in the past now."
With this statement, he acknowledged it.
Even without asking, Jiayu believed Mu Xin’s words. That little girl, with her clear mind, didn’t lose her temper at Jiayu for stirring things up. She saw things clearly.
Jiayu pursed her lips: "And now...?"
"They agreed."
Mu Ke’s voice was soft, and Jiayu’s eyes lit up: "Really?"
"Really!"
There was a hint of a smile in Mu Ke’s voice. Not opposing meant agreeing, and as for the future, they’d deal with it later. He would never let her be wronged, absolutely not.
A bright smile appeared on Jiayu’s face, but Mu Ke changed the topic: "So, future Mrs. Mu, when do we go get the marriage license?"
Jiayu: "..."
Isn’t this a bit too fast?
Actually, no. The engagement had been set, and only the wedding was left. Going to get the license now seemed perfectly logical.
Jiayu thought for a moment. It was already February, and there was a perfect day this month.
"How about February 14th?"
The smile in Mu Ke’s eyes deepened suddenly: "Great!"
Life seemed to return to its calmness. After the Lantern Festival, Jiayu’s bookshop reopened after the break, and business was much better than before the holiday.
These kinds of bookshops typically just emphasize the ambiance, but at Jiayu’s place, both the coffee and the desserts were excellent. Plus, her selection of books had an artisanal vibe, attracting many people.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, the bookshop launched a few corresponding events, which had a good effect.
Early in the morning on February 14th, Mu Ke went to queue at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau. They weren’t the only ones who wanted to get married on this day. By seven, there was already a long line.
Mu Ke was early and got a number that was fairly forward: 14.
This number wasn’t very lucky. Mu Ke frowned, his gaze coolly sweeping around until it landed on a young couple.
The girl was pouting: "Number 52, that’s so far back. I have a meeting this afternoon. Hope it won’t drag until then?"
Both were first-timers, clueless about how long it took to get married. The boy stroked the girl’s hair, apologizing: "Sorry, I overslept this morning. We should have come earlier."
The couple looked genuinely affectionate, though they were complaining, love was clearly in the air.
Mu Ke approached them and straightforwardly suggested swapping numbers.
The young couple was a bit incredulous, as it meant a significant advancement.
Mu Ke, not fond of interacting with others, exceptionally explained warmly: "My fiancée has a special job, and she can’t wake up early."
The young couple exchanged glances for a moment and readily swapped numbers with Mu Ke. After he walked away, the girl pouted: "Why did we have to get fed a mouthful of lovey-dovey stuff even on the day of getting our license?"
The boy chuckled, soothing her: "But now we can advance by a lot. I can marry you sooner."
The girl smiled: "You’re right."
