Chapter 828: Wait for Me When I Return! (8)
Sheng Jiayu finished washing up and went downstairs. Halfway down, a strong, unexpected thought suddenly popped into her mind. Her steps quickened as she rushed down.
She didn’t know why, but she suddenly felt she would see Mu Ke today.
At the bottom of the stairs, she looked right towards the dining table—no one was there.
Looking to the left, she couldn’t see the sofa but could see a black suitcase beside the coffee table, and that belonged to Mu Ke.
Sheng Jiayu’s footsteps halted abruptly; Mu Ke had returned. He really had come back.
She paused for a few seconds until Xu Qingru came in from outside, seeing her standing dazed at the foot of the stairs, frowned and asked, "What are you doing standing there? Little Mu has been waiting for you for a long time."
Sheng Jiayu swallowed and walked slowly towards the living room.
On the sofa, a man dressed in all black was sitting there, his eyes fixed straight on her.
Mu Ke was wearing a black turtleneck sweater, black pants, and his hair had grown much longer, making him look less spirited than before.
But more importantly, he had lost a significant amount of weight.
Mu Ke had always been slender and tall, without an ounce of excess flesh, and now, he seemed to have become all bones. His originally fair face appeared even more cold and hard, with the joints of his hands more pronounced.
Sheng Jiayu’s eyes instantly reddened. Ignoring Xu Qingru standing beside her, she ran to Mu Ke in a few quick strides and stared at him, looking him over from head to toe.
Mu Ke, however, smiled. His slender fingers brushed below her eyes, feeling the moisture on his fingertips.
Sheng Jiayu threw herself into his arms, and Mu Ke tightly embraced her: "I’m back."
In a low voice, softly, lingeringly...
During lunch, Sheng Jiayu learned that Mu Ke had actually returned last night. He had booked the last available flight to B City, which was the latest he could find, and the last ticket available last night.
Upon arriving in B City, Mu Ke first went to Sheng Jiayu’s apartment. There was no one there, and it seemed like no one had lived there for several days.
He then returned to his own apartment, but it was still empty.
Mu Ke guessed that Sheng Jiayu might have returned to accompany Xu Qingru for the Lantern Festival, but it was too late at the time to disturb them. Despite missing her like crazy, he decided to rest at his own place and went over first thing in the morning.
When he arrived, Xu Qingru was already up, and they had breakfast together. Mu Ke solemnly apologized to Xu Qingru, admitting that he had made Sheng Jiayu suffer.
Xu Qingru simply smiled, saying she only hoped for them to be well, and believed they could handle it.
After having lunch at the old house, Sheng Jiayu and Mu Ke left together. On the way, she didn’t ask Mu Ke about the past few days in S City; she only spoke about Uncle Zhou.
The two of them went all the way back to Mu Ke’s apartment. As soon as they stepped inside, someone grabbed Sheng Jiayu’s wrist, spun her 180 degrees, and pressed her against the door. Mu Ke lowered his head and kissed her deeply.
At first, Sheng Jiayu was taken aback, but as she realized what was happening, she closed her eyes, responding earnestly and passionately to Mu Ke’s kiss.
Mu Ke placed one hand behind her head to prevent it from hitting the door, and with the other hand on the door, he kissed her intently and fervently.
Mu Ke didn’t make any further moves; he just continued kissing her like this, as if trying to make up for all the longing over time with this one kiss.
In reality, they hadn’t been apart for long, but the moment they locked eyes at the old house, it felt as though a lifetime had passed.
