Chapter 493: Clingy as a Leech (3)
Su Anle stopped attending to her, got up and went out to ask the doctor about the situation. You can’t be careless with children; watching Su Weiyi vomiting and having diarrhea was truly heart-wrenching.
The doctor prescribed some medicine and gave a few more instructions. Children’s stomachs are prone to problems, so remember not to let them eat raw, cold, or hard-to-digest food.
Su Anle nodded, thinking that Su Weiyi had vomited up all she had eaten. Since Sheng Jianan was still in the ward, she decided to go outside to buy some porridge for her, and also made a call to Shen Jiyan.
Because she didn’t dare to be careless again, Su Anle specifically went to a restaurant she remembered to be quite reliable to get the porridge, which took up quite a bit of time.
By the time she returned, Su Weiyi had finished her IV drip. The little girl had two pillows behind her, her small body nestled inside them. She and Sheng Jianan seemed to be talking about something, as they both wore smiles on their faces.
Standing at the door, Su Anle was stunned. Su Weiyi was afraid of strangers; she had been since she was young. Being a premature child, her health wasn’t good. In Paris, aside from her, Shen Jiyan, and the aunt who looked after them, Su Weiyi had no contact with others.
Even if she did, she would timidly hide behind her. Yet now, she was smiling at a stranger.
Looking again at Sheng Jianan, he didn’t show the slightest sign of impatience. The smile on his face and the way he reached out to tidy Su Weiyi’s hair gave Su Anle a false impression, as if Sheng Jianan was a good father and Su Weiyi was their daughter.
This thought popped into her mind, startling Su Anle. She quickly shook her head and stepped inside.
The little girl saw her and her smile grew even brighter: "Mommy."
Su Anle sat down on another side, not looking at Sheng Jianan, and put down the porridge in her hand: "Good girl Yi, come have something to eat."
"Mommy, Daddy... Uncle can draw elephants. He draws them better than Xiao Yi."
Daddy?
Su Anle’s hand, holding the porridge, shook and nearly spilled it. She turned to look at the two of them, only to see the pair exchange a glance; Su Weiyi even stuck out her tongue at him.
Su Anle’s gaze landed on the blank paper on the bedside table at the other side. On it, a simple elephant sketch was drawn. Su Weiyi seemed to have a natural inclination towards drawing. Su Anle couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Someone certainly knew how to cater to her interests.
After feeding Su Weiyi half a bowl of porridge, Shen Jiyan arrived. The atmosphere in the once lively ward instantly turned awkward. Shen Jiyan politely greeted Sheng Jianan, though he was ignored, and then turned to Su Anle: "What’s going on?"
"Probably the hotel’s breakfast wasn’t very clean; it’s a stomach cold."
Sheng Jianan stood up, leaned over, and gently touched Su Weiyi’s hair: "Be good, Yi. Uncle’s leaving now, but I’ll see you tomorrow. Remember our secret, okay?"
The little girl’s eyes sparkled as she nodded: "Goodbye, Uncle."
Sheng Jianan finished speaking, didn’t so much as glance at Shen Jiyan, let his gaze linger on Su Anle for two seconds, and then left.
Shen Jiyan didn’t seem surprised that Sheng Jianan was there, only concerned himself with asking about Su Weiyi’s condition.
The doctor prescribed three days of IV treatment. Shen Jiyan thought it was troublesome to move her back and forth, and that it wouldn’t be good for the little girl, so he just let her stay in the hospital.
Sheng Jianan came every day. When Su Anle was there, he stayed in the ward. He either helped her with things or accompanied Su Weiyi in drawing. However, as soon as Shen Jiyan came, he would get up and leave without a word.
