Chapter 494: Clingy Like a Plaster (Part 4)
On the day Su Weiyi was discharged, the little girl was already full of energy. Su Anle was carrying some medicine in one hand and holding her in the other. Shen Jiyan called to say he had something come up and couldn’t pick them up.
Su Anle wasn’t bothered and led Su Weiyi towards the entrance to hail a cab. A black car slowly stopped in front of them, and in the next moment, Sheng Jianan’s tall figure appeared in front of the mother and daughter.
"Uncle."
Su Weiyi called out crisply, her black eyes shining. Sheng Jianan handed a bag to Su Weiyi, squatted down beside her, and whispered, "Just as Daddy promised."
Su Anle couldn’t hear their whispers, only saw Su Weiyi smiling broadly as she released her hand and hugged the gift from Sheng Jianan tightly.
Sheng Jianan slowly stood up, glanced at Su Anle, and then turned to open the car door for them: "I’ll take you."
"No need, we..."
Before Su Anle could finish speaking, Su Weiyi had already crawled into the car, gesturing to her: "Mom, sit."
Sheng Jianan gave an approving look to the little girl, then turned back and raised his eyebrows at Su Anle, looking smug.
Su Anle was speechless and could only follow suit. Due to previous events, Shen Jiyan had switched hotels. To Su Anle’s surprise, Sheng Jianan did not insist on taking them back to the villa or his apartment but instead delivered them to the hotel Shen Jiyan had booked.
Without saying another word, he gracefully left.
Shen Jiyan seemed genuinely busy and was nowhere to be seen for several days. During these days, Su Anle found out that someone was truly as persistent as a band-aid. In the morning, just as they got up, he was already at the door with breakfast.
At noon, whether she was at the hotel or elsewhere, he could always find them with a lunchbox in hand.
At night, he took them out to eat.
Su Anle refused more than once, but she couldn’t resist Su Weiyi’s pitiable eyes. So she grudgingly went along, ultimately deciding to stop speaking altogether, since talking didn’t help anyway.
That evening, Sheng Jianan sent them back. After dinner, they watched an animated movie, and Su Weiyi fell asleep in the car.
When getting out of the car, Su Anle just picked her up when someone took her over: "Let me."
Su Anle let him, realizing there was no point in trying to take her back.
The three of them returned to the room. Sheng Jianan placed Su Weiyi in the bedroom and gently closed the door behind him. Su Anle stood at the water dispenser, drinking water.
The bright light in the room cast her shadow, making it look quite frail. They hadn’t had a proper conversation in days, despite spending a lot of time together; most of the time, he was talking to Su Weiyi, while she remained silent.
Sheng Jianan pressed his thin lips together and walked up behind Su Anle. Before he could speak, she already turned around.
Her gaze was calm, her small face showing no emotion at all: "Jianan, let’s have a serious talk."
This should be the most gentle Su Anle had been since their reunion.
Before, she would either call him "this man" or "Mr. Sheng," or at best, "Sheng Jianan." Now, she seemed to have softened her approach.
For some reason, Sheng Jianan suddenly felt nervous. He used a lot of effort to calm down: "Okay, let’s talk."
They sat down on the sofa, Su Anle lowered her eyelids: "What will it take for you to let me go?"
