Chapter 114-The end

" NOOOOOO! " Jake flung himself forward trying to put himself between Lea and the bullet but it was too late. The bullet hit her right on point blank. She fell right in front of his eyes,blood gushing out like a crimson fountain. " LEAAAAAA!!! "Jake's voice broke with the sheer intensity of his scream as he ripped his white shirt and pressed it over her forehead. " CALL FOR AN AMBULANCE! NOW!!! " He barked, desperately clinging onto Lea's body as Kai grabbed his shoulder and began to whimper. " It's alright, baby. Don't worry. Mommy will be fine. " Jake could barely hold onto his child as his hands started to tremble.

Mercy fell down on her knees, probably the only one whose rationale was still working. She closed Lea's lifeless eyes as her body whacked with tremors as she cried.Lea was no more. It was instant death. " Mercy! What are you doing? " Jake shoved her hand away from Lea's body. " Somebody please call an ambulance! " He kept screaming as Kai's cries reached the breaking point. He kept tugging and pulling at Lea's sleeve but there was no response. " Mommy! Mommy wake up! Is Mommy hurt, Daddy? Why isn't she talking anymore? ” Mercy pulled the child on her lap and closed him into a tight hug, sobbing with him. How was she going to tell the little one that Mommy would never wake up again. She was gone.

It was only moments before security and paramedics stormed in. Percy was immediately surrounded as the medical team ran to where Lea was. He took their time to run all the checks. There was no confusion and definitely no mistake. Lea was gone. The head of the team took off his cap and shook his head. "I am sorry, Mr.Rodgers but she was shot at point blank. It was most probably instant death! "

" NOOOOO! YOU ARE LYING. MY LEA CAN'T BE GONE!”Mercy picked Kai up in her arms, desperately trying to soothe the little baby while Jake went on a rampage. He kicked and punched everything and anything that came in his visual range.

The cops arrived by this time and Percy was well surrounded. They closed in on him, urging him to drop his weapon but he hadn't budged from his place all this while. It seemed like he had no intention of leaving or running away. Mercy finally turned to meet his gaze. Her eyes were blood red, rage fuming, she only managed to ask one question, " Why? "

" I made a great mistake by helping him find his true identity. I thought it was the right thing to do but slowly and subtly, he took away everything that belonged to me. My family, my home, my name, my position and even you... He doesn't deserve to be happy. He needs to suffer like I do... did... Whatever. It doesn't matter anymore, does it? It's done and dusted. Phill ran like a madman, leaving his ailing mother behind right after their chopper landed. The news he had heard over the radio... it could not be true. There was definitely a miscommunication. He ran towards the venue where Lea was supposed to get married to his brother. He deliberately delayed their arrival because he couldn't possibly see her walk down the aisle.

But once he reached the aisle, there was nothing left except smears of crimson everywhere.There lay on the ground Lea's wedding veil and trail of her wedding gown. It was all painted it red. His hand shook as he picked it up. There could definitely be other brides. This wasn't Lea's. He brought it to his nose and sniffed it. Her laughter, her smile , her touch breezed through his consciousness.

The ground moved from under his feet as he held onto the fabric for support. " Leaaaaaaaa! ” He let out a heart wrenching growl. " Lea, where are you? " Phill couldn't feel if it were tears or blood that poured out of him. He whacked the ground with his fists.

One of the staff ran up to him. " Sir, they left a long time ago. " Was all that he managed to say. " Where did they go? " Phill could barely speak. " Oh, I think they took the bodies to the Central Morgue for forensic... " Phill leaped up and grabbed his neck. " How dare you! I am asking about Lea and you are talking about some bodies!!! I will rip your tongue and feed it to the dogs. "

Just then Elizabeth Rodgers hands fell over his shoulders. " Phill. Let's not waste anymore time here. I think you already know where we need to go. Let's just hurry up. " The man ran for his life as soon as Phill let him go.

His mind had stopped functioning and he let his mother hold his hands and take him back to the chopper, just like she used to do when he was a little child.
