Chapter 301 - 300: Haunted House
Bella Acker’s face flushed red in an instant, and she didn’t dare to turn back to look at Damian Sinclair. She just lowered her head and quickly caught up with the group ahead.
So embarrassing!
She had been lost in her wild thoughts and didn’t even notice when the people in front started moving.
Bella’s face was red, and she kept her head down, not daring to lift it up.
Damian glanced down and saw her ear, almost transparently red under the sunlight, and his gaze lingered involuntarily.
He had noticed the unusualness in Bella’s invitation for him to come out today, but he followed her without asking any questions. Why?
When he saw her at the entrance, instead of the anger he expected from being tricked, he felt a relief that it was indeed her, along with some anticipation he wouldn’t admit to himself.
What was he anticipating? Was he hoping for her to explain, to prove that he was the most important person in her heart?
And then what?
Then, forget the past grievances, get back together, keep her by his side, denying any opportunity for contact with Archer Quinn?
What about after that? Could he truly disregard the past entanglements she had with other men?
Impossible!
Because he placed her in such an important position in his heart, he couldn’t tolerate any betrayal from her.
Even if he didn’t want to admit it, he was still driven mad by anger and jealousy over those matters!
He even felt that if he didn’t completely sever ties with Bella Acker, he might be dominated by such anger and jealousy, leading to irreparable actions, like locking her away or causing her more harm.
"Damian? Damian, it’s our turn." It was finally their turn to enter the haunted house. Bella realized there was no movement behind her, and when she turned back to call him, she noticed he was lost in thought.
There was a deep fatigue between his brows. Was it because work was too busy, and he hadn’t rested well? Or had he just returned from abroad and hadn’t adjusted to the time zone difference?
Bella looked at him with some worry, wanting to suggest that if he was too tired, he should go back and rest early, but she hesitated to say it out loud.
Because they had finally met, she didn’t want to part with him as soon as she saw him. Besides, after this meeting, who knew when they would meet again.
Even if it was just for another two seconds together, she didn’t want to give up.
Damian snapped out of his trance, "Let’s go." Saying this, he went into the haunted house first.
Bella pressed her lips together and quickly followed, "Damian, it’s really scary in here, wait for me."
Damian didn’t speak, but he slowed his pace.
Inside the haunted house, many props were placed to create a terrifying atmosphere, leaving not much room for people to walk through.
As soon as Bella entered the haunted house and heard the ghostly wails inside, she shivered and tightly clung to Damian’s side, on high alert for anything that might jump out at them.
"Ah!" A girl’s scream came from ahead, evidently scared by something.
Bella shook, instinctively pinching Damian’s fingers, her feet rooted in place, too frightened to move forward.
"Da... Damian, let’s... let’s go out. It’s really scary."
Damian glanced down at her. In the dim light, he couldn’t make out her expression, but he could tell she was genuinely scared.
Though she had always been afraid of ghosts, she had still insisted on coming to the haunted house. What was she thinking?
In the dark environment, Damian sighed quietly, "You can only go in, not out. The only way to leave is to move forward."
