Chapter 300 - 299: Leaning in His Embrace
Damian Sinclair’s pace didn’t slow as he headed straight for the entrance.
Bella Acker ran after him and followed closely behind, her lips slowly curving into a smile.
Although he wore a cold expression and didn’t say anything pleasing, just being with him seemed to instantly erase all her previous grievances.
"Have you both purchased tickets?" The ticket inspector stopped them at the entrance and asked.
"Yes... we’ve bought tickets!" Bella Acker hastily stepped forward, pulling out two tickets from her bag to hand to the inspector.
The inspector looked at the tickets and opened the electronic gate, "Go ahead." As he spoke, he sneaked a couple of glances at Damian Sinclair.
No matter how you looked, this man’s aura seemed completely out of place in an amusement park.
Damian didn’t spare the inspector a glance and strode in with long steps.
"Thank you," Bella Acker expressed her gratitude and quickly jogged to catch up.
Damian’s long legs made him walk fast, and in a blink, he had walked far ahead.
Bella Acker, with her shorter legs, had to jog to keep up with him. But even after she managed to catch up, they barely walked a few steps before the distance widened again, forcing her to jog anew.
One walking and the other jogging in pursuit, soon Bella was out of breath, "Damian... Damian, could you slow down a bit? I’m having trouble keeping up with you."
Hearing her, Damian stopped and glanced back at her, "Ms. Acker, if you’re tired, we can call it a day."
"No! I’m not tired!" Bella quickly walked to his side, gazing at him pitifully, "Damian, I’m not tired. The haunted house is just ahead, let’s go there."
"Aren’t you afraid of ghosts?" Damian looked at her indifferently.
Bella shook her head, "With you here, I’m not afraid."
Damian gave her a deep look, said no more, and turned to head towards the haunted house.
Bella quickly jogged to catch up.
There were quite a few people at the haunted house, all queuing up and it felt a bit crowded.
"Oh dear, what’s going on behind? Everyone is queuing, no cutting in line please!"
"Wahh wahh..."
"Exactly, why are you pushing? You’ve stepped on the child! There, there, don’t cry!"
The adults’ chattering mixed with the children’s cries, creating quite a noisy atmosphere.
The queue also got more crowded due to people cutting in, tightly packed from front to back.
Bella was squeezed a bit close by the man behind her and awkwardly shuffled forward a bit, only to find her shoulder being pulled. Before she knew it, her position changed.
She and Damian had switched places; Damian now stood behind her, while she stood in front of him.
What was a crowded space suddenly became roomier.
"Damian..." Bella turned back to look at him.
Damian stared ahead expressionlessly, said coldly, "Focus on queuing."
"Mm." Bella nodded, feeling sweet inside as she turned back.
Was Damian protecting her?
Even in such a crowded and noisy space, he still stood tall and handsome, possessing an effortless charm and aura.
Bella happily looked down while standing in front of him, suddenly hoping the crowd would be a bit denser. That way she could rightfully move closer to him, maybe even into his arms.
"What are you daydreaming about? Move forward."
Damian’s cold voice rang from above her head, snapping Bella back to reality. She realized the people in front had already moved one or two meters ahead, while she foolishly stood there daydreaming, like a fool.
