Chapter 78: Ch 78: Level Up Again

Chapter 78: Ch 78: Level Up Again

"Kill!"

Emrys grabbed his blade tightly and rushed at the red creatures.

"Roar!"

The smaller red creatures, driven by the giant scaled red creature, roared loudly and pounced on Emrys in groups of hundreds, wanting to tear him to shreds. There were so many of them that Emrys didn’t have time to execute his Flying Blade Skill. He relied on his powerful physical body and Soul Force to face the small red creatures.

Puff! Puff! Puff!

One! Two! Three...

Just like that, several red creatures were killed by him in the blink of an eye. These creatures were not powerful to begin with; they only had strength equivalent to a Bronze Soul Master, being slightly stronger in terms of physical strength but much weaker in terms of soul power.

As he killed them, the bodies of the red creatures shattered into fragments of light and entered his body, enhancing the fog inside the bead and increasing his Soul Force.

That wasn’t all. The cross ’X’ mark on his forehead was becoming darker and darker. In just ten minutes, this mark covered his entire forehead and was still expanding, slowly creeping down his face.

Emrys was completely unaware. He didn’t even have time to notice these changes.

He was already hungry, having not eaten anything for almost two days. Perhaps it was because of the foreign energy, but he had been able to easily withstand the hunger.

Now, as he expended more and more energy fighting these little red creatures, the hunger started to hit him slowly.

"Why is my luck so bad?"

As Emrys fought, he sighed inwardly. He felt too unlucky to encounter so many red creatures. For a moment, he even thought this might have happened because he killed a few red creatures earlier. Had he not killed those creatures, he might not have attracted an entire race to come and hunt him down.

Fighting them was tiring, but it was exciting too.

As he continued to fight and kill, his strength also continued to increase. In just a little over an hour, Emrys had already killed hundreds of these creatures. Of course, he also sustained several small and big injuries.

During this battle, Emrys realized his own shortcomings. He was lacking not only experience but also skills. When fighting, he was randomly slashing at the red creatures. When he slashed at the front, the red creatures at the back would claw at him, injuring him in the process. And when he was battling creatures at the back, he would be injured from the front.

Blood had already dyed his clothes red. His backpack, which still contained dozens of Elite Bronze Soul Orbs and a herb from this space, had fallen somewhere. Its fate was unknown.

Emrys didn’t have time to think about the backpack. His priority was to escape from the swarm of these creatures as soon as possible.

However, escaping was anything but easy.

Knowing he couldn’t escape, he had no choice but to fight with his life on the line.

"Roar!"

The red creatures swarmed at him like bees at a honey thief. Emrys continued to slash at the creatures. He knew that his Soul Force alone was not enough, so he started utilizing the foreign energy, the fog, as well. The fog granted him a mysterious power and made battling easier for him.

However, the situation remained dire.

How long could he fight?

There were tens of millions of these creatures, and he had killed slightly more than a thousand in a few hours of fierce battle. He wasn’t given a single second to rest, and his hands were already dead tired.

All of a sudden, he felt a rush of energy inside his body. At the same time, a very comfortable warmth spread through his veins. It was as if his body was being revitalized from the inside out. Emrys could feel his strength returning, his senses sharpening, and his mind clear.

Minor changes took place inside the depths of his eyes. Aside from the previous two, another star pattern slowly appeared. Now, he had three star patterns at the depth of his eyes. Aside from this, he also leveled up to Advanced Silver Soul Master.

The most noticeable change about him was the dark cross mark that had now already covered his entire face and was still stretching down.

Feeling the sudden rush of strength, Emrys’s grip on the blade tightened, and his stance became more confident. The fear of death that had gripped him moments ago began to dissipate, replaced by a fierce light that reflected in his eyes.

"Roar!"

As for the red creatures, they could also feel the change in Emrys. They seem to understand that this two-legged creature dressed in a strange outfit was becoming stronger by killing their clansmen. They roared and furiously charged at him, their claws and teeth gleaming menacingly.

By now, with the rise in his strength, Emrys was again ready to kill or to be killed. As he moved, his actions became precise and fluid.

With a swift motion, Emrys swung his blade, cutting through the first wave of attackers easily. With the rise in his strength, fighting these two circle-pattern creatures became more easy for him.

The red creatures fell, but more took their place, undeterred by their fallen comrades. Emrys continued to fight. As time went by, his movements almost became instinctual. Each strike was powerful, fueled by the foreign energy coursing through him.

Despite being outnumbered, Emrys felt a strange sense of relief as he fought. His confidence grew with each creature he killed. However, the more he fought, the wearier he became.

Emrys knew he couldn’t keep this up forever. The red creatures were relentless, and the giant red creatures standing behind the black pillars of light, along with the huge scaled red creature, had yet to join the fray.

Node Shift!

Emrys activated his origin skill and created a three-dimensional world around him that only he could see. The movements of the creatures slowed down significantly in his eyes. He could now see every single red creature within a radius of 500 meters. From the perspective of a god, he could easily tell that just within this small area, there were at least ten thousand red creatures, all charging at him furiously.

The number of creatures pouncing at him had increased, so Emrys used Node Shift to relocate to the far end of the 500-meter limit. This move caught the red creatures by surprise, and he began his onslaught again.
