Chapter 77: Ch 77: A Perilous Situation
"Where did all these creatures come from?"
Emrys was bewildered and frightened. The appearance of so many creatures meant great trouble was waiting for him. Moreover, these creatures were eyeing him as if he were their mortal enemy.
If these creatures truly attacked him, Emrys would be left with only three choices.
The first choice was obviously to escape. The other two choices were either to kill or be killed.
"Roar!"
Emrys retreated a little, however, he suddenly shuddered. He felt a chill all over his body.
Turning around, he was terror-stricken to see countless small red creatures standing a few meters away, sending daggers at him from their eyes. It was as if they were waiting for someone’s order. If the order is given, they’ll swarm over and assault him with all they got.
Now, Emrys didn’t even have a way to retreat. Of course, he could simply shift node and escape, however, before he could do anything, a loud commanding roar echoed through the air all of a sudden. The red creatures seemed to stiffen, their eyes narrowing in focus.
Emrys’s heart pounded in his chest as he scanned the area, trying to locate the source of the roar. To his horror, a larger creature emerged from the shadows. It was towering and menacing, its body covered in red scales, and it looked exactly similar to the giant red creatures. One thing that made it distinctive creature from red creatures was dark-red flames that burned on its head, casting a terrifying glow on its surroundings.
"Roar!"
As the creature roared, as if it could command a flaming tornado, a terrifyingly hot air swept over for more than thirty seconds before subsiding.
This creature seemed to be the leader, and the smaller red creatures immediately bowed their heads in submission. Emrys could see a total of five circles in the eyes of this creature.
Everything was obvious now. Emrys knew he was in serious trouble.
The leader’s eyes locked onto him, full of malice and intent.
"Node Shift!"
Emrys did not hesitate to shift with a node and appeared 500 meters away. However, he was again horrified to find his surroundings were actually filled with millions of these creatures. No matter the distance, as far as he could see, the land was filled with these creatures.
"Roar!" "Roar!" "Roar!"
Emrys’s sudden appearance caught their attention and every one of them started roaring at him. However, they still did not attack him.
More and more creatures started to roar, and their roars filled the air. The atmosphere became so noisy that Emrys had no choice but to execute the ability, Node Shift, once again. However, even after appearing another 500 meters away, the situation remained the same.
He started worrying.
"Am I going to die here today? Is this the end?"
Emrys suddenly recalled Elysia’s last words: she told him that all he had to do was survive.
When he first appeared in this spatial zone, he was struck by terror at the sight of this hellish space. However, as time passed, the fear in his heart slowly ebbed away. Instead, he acquired a mysterious energy that not only strengthened his body but also granted him a bead with its own space. This bead was anything but ordinary. Moreover, the strange fog granted him a high level of strength, very different from Soul Cultivation.
Just a while ago, he was overjoyed to discover that he could raise his Soul Cultivation by killing these red creatures.
Now, all the joy in his heart had completely vanished. There was no reason to laugh; he was in a perilous situation that could cost him his life at any moment.
He should have been wary of the dangers in this space!
Since Elysia told him to survive, it meant this space was filled with dangers. He should have stayed alert at all times.
He was alert, but not enough. He always thought that he could escape any danger with the ability to shift with nodes. Only now did he realize that there are situations where even his ability to shift hundreds of meters could not save his life or bring him out of a perilous situation.
Instead, he was terrified even more.
He could not even count just how many of these creatures were there.
Millions, or maybe billions!
It was unknown!
One certain thing, however, was that Emrys was definitely in for a round to hell.
Emrys tightened his grip on his blade, preparing for the inevitable fight. He knew that escaping would be nearly impossible now. His only option was to stand his ground and fight with everything he had.
"Roar!"
A loud roar echoed in the air that brought a hot wave of storm along. Obviously, the large creature had roared again. This roar was its order for the smaller red creatures to take action.
As the roar echoed in the air, the smaller red creatures began to move. Their eyes gleamed with aggression and fury, however, Emrys could still see the excitement in those little red eyes. These creatures were excited to hunt him down.
"F*ck!"
Emrys cursed and took a deep breath, steeling himself for the battle. He had faced many dangers before, but this was unlike anything he had ever encountered.
"Since I could not escape, let’s fight to the death!"
All of a sudden, determination flashed in Emrys’s eyes. He raised his blade, pointed at the creatures, and said, "If you want to fight, then let’s fight."
As the creatures closed in, Emrys felt a surge of adrenaline. He knew this battle could very well be his last, but he was ready to face whatever came his way.
Just like that, a terrifying battle began.
Emrys was an Intermediate Silver Soul Master, with the strength to directly challenge an Elementary Secret Silver Soul Master. Coupled with the terrifying power provided by the fog, Emrys was confident he could kill at least thousands of these smaller creatures.
This was also his way to emerge victorious in the battle.
After all, the more creatures died, the more terrifying his strength would become after absorbing the foreign energy. Most importantly, his Soul Cultivation would also increase automatically.
The crucial question was, how long could Emrys fight?
He was destined to suffer a heavy setback here. No matter how strong he became, he would eventually get tired, and when that happened, he would become food for these red creatures!
