Chapter 284: Ch 284: The Sword’s Memory

Chapter 284: Ch 284: The Sword’s Memory

The deformed sword is a bizarre weapon Emrys obtained from the hand of an abyssal back in the Boundary between Level 1 and Level 2 areas in the fragmented Cosmic World.

Back then, Emrys realized that the deformed sword is no ordinary sword, it is a weapon on the same level as the Sun & Moon Blade. This sword could swallow the Mist of Abyss (dark energy from the dark river) to strengthen itself. Not only this, this sword was likely the most dangerous weapon a person could use against an abyssal, because it can swallow everything an Abyssal has, including its energy, body, blood, and soul. [Ref. Ch - 172.]

Emrys was not powerful enough to use either the Sun & Moon Blade or the deformed sword. Both these weapons were inside his body.

Sun & Moon Blade was inside his Cosmic Essence Core. On the other hand, the deformed sword used to rest on the surface of the Dark River inside his sea of consciousness.

But now, for some unknown reason, or maybe sensing the Abyssal Energy, it took the initiative to come out, which startled Emrys greatly.

Truth be told, if the deformed sword had not appeared on its own, Emrys would not have even thought about it, at least not for the time being.

The moment the deformed sword appeared, everything around Emrys seemed to change. The air suddenly grew colder, and the dark fog started to swirl wildly, as if the sword’s presence had disturbed it.

Emrys’s eyes widened as he stared at the weapon floating before him.

Ever since the deformed sword went inside to rest in his Dark River, it had been devouring the Mist of Abyss slowly over the course of years. Emrys clearly felt that this weapon had grown stronger since its presence itself was currently stronger than before. However, even so, it still looked the same broken, with cracks running along its blade.

Nevertheless, underestimating the deformed sword due to its appearance would be the stupidest thing one can ever do. After all, despite its damaged appearance, it was giving off a heavy, menacing feeling, like it was alive.

The sword trembled slightly, humming softly. It wasn’t loud, but the sound echoed in the dark, foggy space which made it feel even more eerie.

Emrys reached out his hand cautiously. He didn’t grab the sword but let his fingers hover near it. As he did, the sword’s humming grew louder. It was reacting to him. It was as if the sword wanted Emrys to hold it.

"Why did you come out now?" Emrys murmured curiously. He could sense that the sword wasn’t dangerous to him, but its sudden appearance still made him wary. No matter what, it was deeply related to the Abyss.

Shua!

Suddenly, the dark fog around him began to move. It was being pulled toward the sword. Streams of thick black mist swirled like rivers, rushing into the cracks and gaps of the deformed blade. As the sword absorbed the fog, its dull, broken surface started to glow faintly. A dim dark light spread across the blade, making it look sharper and more complete.

Emrys raised his brows in surprise, not expecting the sudden change. He watched as the sword devoured the dark fog rapidly.

"Although there are traces of Abyssal Energy here, the wall of dark fog itself is definitely not Abyssal Energy or Mist of Abyss. Then why the deformed sword is devouring it?"

Emrys was confused for a moment, but then, he suddenly felt a strange aura on the sword. The sword immediately felt stronger than before.

"Why?"

Emrys was even more confused. What is so special about this wall of dark fog that actually made the deformed sword stronger?

However, Emrys shook his head soon and no longer thought about it. It has to be known that this dark fog was capable of stopping almost all Eternal Sky Soul Masters from getting past its range. No one, who entered, ever returned alive. There is obviously something very mysterious about this fog, otherwise, the unfathomable expert from ten million years ago would not have created it to guard the actual battlefield of that era.

As the sword fed on the fog for several minutes, and soon after, the oppressive energy around Emrys began to weaken. The heavy pressure, although not affecting Emrys, had been present since he entered the foggy wall, and now, it was fading.

It was as if the sword was clearing a path for him.

At this moment, the sword shook a little and a humming sound echoed in the air. Emrys felt as if the sword was calling him, wanting him to hold it.

Emrys hesitated for a moment before finally reaching out and grabbing the sword’s hilt. The moment his hand touched it, a powerful surge of energy rushed into his body. It wasn’t painful, but it was overwhelming.

It has to be known that Emrys was very powerful even when put in Spiritarium, a Cosmic Field. No ordinary thing could give him a different feeling. But the instant he grabbed the sword’s hilt, his entire arm vibrated and felt numb, and his mind buzzed with strange images. The images were that of shadows, battles, and even the cries of Abyssals.

"Is this... the sword’s memory?" Emrys muttered in a puzzled tone. His grip on the sword also tightened. He realized the sword was showing him fragments of its past, memories of battles where it had destroyed countless creatures, including Humans and Abyssals.

The visions faded quickly, and the energy settled. Emrys exhaled deeply and looked at the sword in his hand. It felt much lighter now, but Emrys’s mood was heavy. It is because he had now seen a part of the sword’s memories where an entire world was destroyed by this sword, and its holder was actually an abyssal. That abyssal destroyed that world to strengthen himself. He not only killed all the creatures of that world, but he also killed every single Abyssal present in that world and used the sword to devour them.

Finally, he used a method to extract the Essence of All Creatures from the sword and absorbed it to reach a realm that was extremely terrifying.

Emrys not only saw the memory, but he also learned the method of extracting the essence of all creatures after the sword devours them.

The sword showed him the fragment of that memory because it wanted to pass that method to Emrys.
