Chapter 285: Ch 285: Billions of Runes
Chapter 285: Ch 285: Billions of Runes
Emrys felt a heaviness in his heart. He could sense that the technique he had just learned was inherently evil. But then again, was there truly anyone without darkness within them?
Even he has a dark side after fusing with a fragment of that unknown person’s soul. Though he felt unease after learning the skill, he knew one thing with certainty, if the situation demanded, he would not hesitate to use this skill. Backing down was not an option.
Emrys didn’t let go of the sword. Holding its hilt, he waited until the sword stopped devouring the dark fog.
It was then that Emrys realized that the sword was not exactly devouring the wall of dark fog but that some special energy was present there. That special energy quite resembled the dark fog itself, thus confusing him earlier. Now that the special energy was gone, the sword stopped devouring the fog.
As for what that special energy was, Emrys didn’t think too much about it. After all, there would be no answer, so thinking would only waste his time.
Shaking his head, Emrys began walking again, still holding the deformed sword. This time, however, the resistance and pressure in the air were no longer present. Though he had not been affected before due to his strength, he could still sense it. Now, however, the presence itself seemed to have vanished. It appeared that the resistance and pressure had been caused by the special energy, which had been absorbed by the deformed sword. With the energy now gone, the resistance and pressure disappeared as well.
Emrys was still very cautious. After all, rumor clearly speaks of several Eternal Sky Soul Masters entering the dark fog but never returning. There is a very high probability of them all ending up dead.
He was curious as to how or what caused their death.
This dark area seemed to be infinitely long. Emrys kept walking for hours but still failed to cross it. It was as if some strange force was stopping him from walking out of the dark area.
It has to be known that Emrys was not an ordinary soul master. Not to mention he was a powerful Soul Master even in Spiritarium, his Cosmic Cultivation was also not low compared to a top expert of a Cosmic Field.
Even so, this strange force was capable of restricting him. Obviously, this place is not for just anyone with "strength" to cross.
Emrys suddenly thought of Andrea, the Wielder of Destiny, and the Wielder of Fate. A spark of light flickered in his eyes as he muttered, "It seems this place is designed specifically for ’special’ individuals to traverse. From what Mom mentioned, that unfathomable expert divined the arrival of two people destined to wield fate and destiny in the future, and also spoke of exceptions. Could all of this be a mere coincidence? It’s highly unlikely."
"It seems that that unfathomable expert already knew about us. He set up this area so that Andrea and the Wielder of Fate could pass. In other words, this wall of fog was meant for only those two to cross. For some reason, he doesn’t want me to pass through this wall of fog."
Emrys’s mouth suddenly curled up. He sneered inwardly and muttered, "Heh, you underestimate me. Since you know I am an exception, why do you think your ’rules’ could stop me? Don’t you already know exceptions are meant to break rules?"
Emrys’s eyes flashed and an invisible power spread out. This was his domain. This was his three-dimensional world.
Currently, the area of his three-dimensional world far surpassed anything he had achieved before. He could now transform an area exceeding a million miles into his three-dimensional world. This significant expansion was the result of his breakthrough from an Eternal Sky Soul Master to a Divine Light Soul Master, which brought a significant transformation within him.
This was no surprise, after all, the Eternal Sky Stage and Divine Light Stage also represent the limit of the universe and the beginning of a Cosmic Field. The difference between these two stages is simply huge.
Not to forget, he was not a Divine Light Soul Master but a Luminous Void Soul Master. His advancement to the Luminous Void Stage also increased the range of his three-dimensional world.
In an instant, everything within an area of more than a million miles in radius was within his sight. Nothing could escape his eyes now.
"Uh... Interesting!"
To Emrys’s surprise, the wall of fog was not that big. It was spread onto an area of about a thousand meters only. However, these thousand meters of land were not ordinary. They were covered in densely populated runes. These runes somewhat resembled the ancient runes he had seen on the Ascension Gate, however, they were still very different.
"It seems these runes are derived from ancient runes, thus having similarities but low power compared to ancient runes."
As he was looking at this land from the perspective of a God, nothing was hidden from his eyes. He could already tell that these runes created an illusion, trapping all creatures within the boundary of dark fog.
He was sure because he could see thousands of skeletons scattered everywhere in this foggy area. Generally, these skeletons were not visible, but no illusion could deceive Emrys’s perspective of a God.
Even after death, there was a subtle aura of divinity within these bones. Obviously, these skeletons were previously powerful Eternal Sky Soul Masters. Unfortunately, they died trapped in illusion.
"But... What could have killed them?"
It has to be known that an ordinary Eternal Sky Soul Master can live for millions of years without a problem. The previous bodies of these skeletons obviously didn’t die a natural death. They seemed to have been killed by an invisible force.
Emrys scanned the foggy area again and soon detected something different. Among nearly billions of runes, at least a million were deeply hidden. These million runes were exuding killing intent. These runes were meant to kill.
As for whom to kill and how to kill, the conditions were set and hidden within the runes themselves.
Thinking for some time, Emrys suddenly smiled and muttered, "Since that’s the case, why not benefit from these runes? I’ll learn these runes before walking out of this foggy area."
With that, Emrys silently activated the power of Timeless Enlightenment that came from his body and bloodline. Just like that, he entered the state of enlightenment very easily, his entire focus on billions of runes down below.
