Chapter 273: Ch 273: Fate and Destiny

"Who is it?"

"How can someone other than I and the Wielder of Destiny activate the Ascension Gate?"

Chu Fanxian muttered under his breath, looking at the phenomena in the sky with astonished expression.

He was a person born with a great fate. Whatever he wanted or needed would appear before him naturally, as if guided by fate. Throughout this life, he had never faced any obstacles in his cultivation.

Chi Fanxian clearly remembered his past life.

Unlike this life, he was not so lucky. In his past life, he was born a Solari.

Solari is one of the Celestial Races born from the core essence of stars, particularly suns. Legends say that when a sun sheds its cosmic flares into the void, its fiery energy condenses into fragments of life, giving birth to the Solari. Each Solari is thus a living embodiment of solar energy. They carry a fragment of their star’s brilliance within their core.

They often inhabit sunlit realms or celestial domains where their connection to their solar origin remains strong.

Solari is a race with a small population. However, each of them is very strong. Even the weakest of them are born with a strong cultivation base, strong enough to be counted as powerful experts even in a Cosmic Field.

In his past life, Chi Fanxian was born in a Cosmic Field named Celestia, which is also among those Cosmic Fields that inhibit a large number of different Celestial Races.

Chu Fanxian’s life in Celestia was filled with hardship. Among Solari, he was born the weakest. It is also a rare occurrence in his race, which was known for its strength and vitality. While others of his kind could easily grow stronger, he struggled a lot and fought his way to the point of death.

It was then when he was on the brink of death that he obtained the greatest opportunity of his life. He obtained an Eternal Token and entered a place called the Eternal Paradise, thus changing his life completely.

With great rewards and opportunities obtained inside the Eternal Paradise, Chu Fanxian entered the Vast Expanse of Eternity and even became a powerful figure in one of the smallest regions.

Unfortunately, during his previous mission, he was killed.

Then again, he was truly lucky. Before that mission, he happens to obtain the Reincarnation Mark from the Eternal Paradise. The Reincarnation Mark saved his soul and brought him inside another Cosmic Field named Spiritarium.

In this life, he was a pure Spiritas.

In this life, he didn’t have the support of Eternal Paradise. After all, he lost the Eternal Token after death in his previous life.

Nevertheless, he was still a reborn person after all. Coupled with the fact that he is a pure Spiritas, his status was very high and he quickly rose to power. He cultivated for a million years to become the strongest Soul Master in the entire Spiritarium.

Unfortunately, luck was still not on his side.

Just as he was about to reach the peak of his power, tragedy struck. A terrible betrayal by those he trusted led to his downfall. He was ambushed by powerful enemies. His "Soul Body" shattered and his "Divine Soul" was left to drift aimlessly in the void.

But fate had other plans. Instead of fading away, his Divine Soul seemed to have connected with an invisible power that quickly stabilized his fading nature. A large amount of information poured into his mind, and he realized that he had somehow touched the String of Fate of a small universe within the Spiritarium. This connection granted him the Blessing of Fate, making him the Wielder of Fate.

Even though he remained in his Divine Soul state and could not cultivate, his Divine Soul retained the strength of an Eternal Sky Soul Master.

As the Wielder of Fate, he only had one mission: to activate the Ascension Gate and open the path of ascension. Once he completed this mission, he would receive an overwhelming reward. He would not only connect to the Fate of the entire Spiritarium, but he would directly transcend it in one go. This would allow him to leave Spiritarium and enter the Vast Expanse of Eternity again.

However, this time, he would carry the fate of all of Spiritarium with him. This would make him much stronger than any other cultivator. He would no longer follow the usual cultivation path. Instead, his cultivation path would be the "Fate Dao" itself.

That’s why, he has been waiting for the Wilder of Destiny to appear.

After all, only together could they activate the Ascension Gate.

Now that the Ascension Gate has been activated by someone else, what purpose does he, the Wielder of Fate, serve?

His heart was filled with questions.

Talking about Fate and Destiny, they may sound similar, but they are actually different in nature.

Fate often refers to a predetermined course of events, usually seen as inevitable or unchangeable. It implies that the events of a person’s life are controlled by external forces or higher powers. It is often associated with a lack of control, where individuals are bound by what is "meant to be."

For example, someone says: "It was his fate to lose everything and rebuild from scratch."

Destiny also refers to the course of events in a person’s life but often emphasizes purpose or a greater plan. It suggests that individuals have a role to play in fulfilling a meaningful outcome. Destiny carries a more positive and active connotation, often implying that individuals can work towards achieving their destiny.

For example, someone says: "It was his destiny to become a great leader and change the world."

The key difference between Fate and Destiny is that "Fate" suggests things are fixed and beyond a person’s control. Whereas, Destiny implies a sense of purpose or calling that one can strive toward or fulfill. During this purpose, there can be countless unseen changes.

Fate is often seen as limiting or inescapable. On the other hand, Destiny is viewed as empowering and meaningful.

Most importantly, Fate might refer to a character’s luck or the circumstances beyond their control, such as being born into a powerful family or finding rare treasures. Destiny, on the other hand, often relates to their ultimate purpose, such as becoming the savior of the world or reaching the peak of cultivation.

Both are different!
