Chapter 272: Ch 272: Exceptions Are Meant To Defy All Laws

It has been ten days since Emrys entered the pool which is supposed to be the Ascension Gate.

Andrea had been waiting for Emrys by the side of the pool with Laura and Caruso these past few days, however, there was no sign of Emrys coming out. It was as if he had disappeared completely.

However, he still clearly remembered what Emrys had told him before diving into the pool. Those words might have sounded ordinary, but they shook his heart.

"Andrea, are you sure he can come back?" Laura questioned. Her heart was filled with worry.

Although they had only spent a few days with Emrys and were not entirely familiar with him, they still felt deeply grateful to him. After all, Emrys hadn’t just helped them, he had also saved their lives.

They knew they owed Emrys a debt they could never fully repay.

"Yes, Andrea. You told us about that Ascension Gate before bringing us here. It can only be activated again by the joint effort of the Wielder of Destiny and the Wielder of Fate, and both of them must be at least Eternal Sky Soul Masters. Although Sir Emrys is powerful, I don’t think he has reached the Eternal Sky Soul Master. After all, Eternal Sky Soul Masters are supposed to be the strongest in the entire world. Moreover, this pool appears to be very dangerous. Can he still come out? He has been gone for ten days already."

Caruso also presented his doubts to Andrea.

Andrea thought for a while and then shook his head, saying, "It’s only been ten days. Even I think that activating the Ascension Gate is impossible for him without my and the Wielder of Fate’s help. Still, knowing Sir Emrys, I wouldn’t underestimate him. It’s only been ten days since he had gone down there. Let’s wait for him longer!"

Caruso nodded but still felt uneasy. He cast a worried glance toward the shimmering pool. Laura’s feelings were similar. She bit her lips but didn’t speak. Andrea was worried.

It was at this moment, the pool started shining with bluish light. This light became brighter and brighter until a pillar of light shot out of the pool, piercing into the night sky directly.

The moment the bluish pillar of light shot out of the pool, the entire sky above turned dark, as if the stars themselves had vanished. The pillar of light was so bright that it lit up everything around, making it look like daytime in the middle of the night. It was beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

The light didn’t just stay in the sky, it kept going, reaching beyond the clouds and disappearing into space.

Andrea, Laura, and Caruso stared in awe with wide eyes.

The pool was no longer calm. The water inside was bubbling and swirling, creating a loud rumbling sound. Waves rose up high, splashing in every direction, but none of the water left the pool. Instead, it seemed like the pool had become alive.

Then, the ground beneath their feet started shaking.

It wasn’t like a normal earthquake; it felt like the entire world was moving.

Trees swayed violently and birds flew away in panic. Soul Beasts in the forest nearby let out frightened cries. Even far-off mountains seemed to tremble. Their snowy peaks cracked slightly.

High above, the dark sky began to change. Strange colors started to appear, as if someone was using colors to paint the sky. In the end, those colors began swirling together like a giant painting. All kinds of colors danced in the sky and formed shapes that looked like giant galaxies.

People from all over the Celestial Horizon could see this strange phenomenon.

Some pointed at it in fear, while others dropped to their knees, thinking it was the sign of a god.

"This is..."

Andrea, Laura, and Caruso could not describe the shock in their hearts. It was overwhelming.

"He truly succeeded!"

Andrea couldn’t help but think of the words Emrys had spoken before jumping into the pool.

The condition to activate the Ascension Gate was fixed: only the Wielder of Destiny and the Wielder of Fate together could activate the Ascension Gate again, and both must be Eternal Sky Soul Masters.

However, Emrys’s perspective was different.

The words Emrys had spoken echoed in Andrea’s mind:

"You may be the Wielder of Destiny, and someone else may be the Wielder of Fate, but I am an exception. And where there is an exception, no law or rule applies. There is no such thing as an unbreakable law when an exception exists. Exceptions are meant to defy all laws."

Now it seemed Emrys had not been lying. He truly was an exception. After all, he had succeeded in activating the Ascension Gate.

But this success raised unsettling questions in Andrea’s heart. He and the Wielder of Fate were born for a singular purpose: to activate the Ascension Gate and open the path to a wider starry sky called Spiritarium, allowing people to ascend and cultivate.

Now that someone else had accomplished what they were meant to, what purpose did they serve? What did their existence mean now?

It was a question that suddenly appeared in Andrea’s heart.

In fact, it was not just Andrea, the same unsettling feeling rose in the heart of a person sitting on top of a mountain somewhere in the Celestial Horizon.

Unlike other people, this person had an almost transparent body. Fortunately, he was covered in white cloth, however, even the cloth covering him had become somewhat transparent.

He was not a human; he was a Spiritas, a pure Spiritas.

He has another identity. He is the Wilder of Fate. He is also a Soul Master that has cultivated to a higher level than the limit of this universe. In other words, his cultivation has already surpassed the Eternal Sky Soul Master.

An existence like his was not meant to be in this universe. However, due to his identity as the Wilder of Fate, the universe was not rejecting his presence.

Currently, he was looking at the pillar of light going straight into space and all sorts of colors painting the sky.
