Chapter 572 Two Choices
Chapter 572 Two Choices
"Did I strike a nerve?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile as he looked at He Dong.
At his words, He Dong’s face turned even uglier.
"Kid, don’t get cocky. I’ll admit I’m wary of Mu Junwen, but I’m definitely not letting you off the hook!" As he spoke, a thick murderous intent filled He Dong’s cold eyes.
"Men, break his limbs! I don’t want him dead, just crippled. Make sure he can never take care of himself again!" He Dong ordered, his voice laced with a killing intent that was chilling to the bone.
Lin Kuang looked at He Dong with utter calm, showing no fear.
"Cripple me? You’re all talk. You think you and these idiots can actually do it? He Dong, I don’t have time to waste on you. I’ll give you two choices. First, you and your men submit to me, and I’ll forgive you this once. Second, I’ll kill you and find a replacement. It’s that simple."
Lin Kuang spoke in a playful tone, as if joking, which left He Dong staring in disbelief.
"Kid, are you insane? What did you just say? Make me submit to you? Or you’ll kill me? Are you dreaming?" He Dong was so furious he started laughing, his voice filled with mockery as he looked at Lin Kuang as if he were an idiot.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang couldn’t help but shake his head. This guy is practically begging for death. Of course, I’ll have to oblige him.
With that thought, Lin Kuang slowly stood up. He held the handcuffs in his hand, having slipped out of them at some unknown moment.
Seeing this, He Dong’s expression shifted slightly. He had no idea when Lin Kuang had freed himself!
"He Dong, I’m giving you one last chance. Submit, or die," Lin Kuang said, his tone flat.
At these words, He Dong’s expression turned grim. As the boss of the San Ye Sect, he was a prominent figure in Hangcheng. While the San Ye Sect wasn’t the biggest underground power in the city, it still held considerable influence. Even forces stronger than his own wouldn’t dare speak to him like this. Yet today, Lin Kuang was treating him with such disdain, something He Dong found impossible to accept.
"Kid, don’t think you’re tough just because you slipped some cuffs. This is the San Ye Sect! Brothers, move! Waste him!" He Dong roared, his face livid. He was so enraged that he could no longer control his desire to kill Lin Kuang. As for the consequences, he would deal with them later.
Hearing his order, the dozen bodyguards who had entered with him drew their pistols, their dark muzzles all aimed at Lin Kuang.
Lin Kuang watched this unfold calmly. His handsome, sunny face showed no trace of worry, as if the weapons aimed at him were nothing more than toys.
"Very well. Since you’ve chosen death, a kind-hearted person like myself has no choice but to grant your wish," Lin Kuang said with a smile, his eyes narrowing as he spoke in that same, unnervingly composed tone.
Doubt flashed in He Dong’s eyes. Is this guy an idiot? I have a dozen guns pointed at him! Can he dodge bullets? Or is he just bluffing?
He Dong couldn’t fathom where Lin Kuang’s confidence came from, so he decided to stop thinking about it.
"Don’t hesitate! Shoot! Kill him!" He Dong ordered, taking a small step back.
The instant his words fell, Lin Kuang’s figure vanished.
Yes, he simply disappeared, as if he had evaporated into thin air. It was like something from a myth. But this was no myth; it was a reality born from Lin Kuang’s incredible speed. From a distance of only a meter, he moved too quickly for the human eye to track.
Seeing Lin Kuang vanish, everyone in the room froze. Forgetting to even fire their weapons, they just stood there, stunned.
He Dong was dumbfounded. He had thought Lin Kuang was trapped and that killing him would be easy. He realized he was wrong. Lin Kuang was far more powerful than he had ever imagined.
"Was... was that a ghost?" someone stammered, their voice thick with fear and disbelief.
Another man rubbed his eyes fiercely, thinking he was hallucinating, but the truth remained.
Watching their reactions, He Dong swallowed hard. In that same instant, he felt a cold draft on the back of his neck. Before he could react, a chain tightened around his throat—it was the handcuffs.
"He Dong, I told you there were only two paths: submission or death. Since you chose death, I will send you to Hell!"
As he finished speaking, Lin Kuang’s tone became utterly frigid, like that of a monarch from the Nine Nether. The inhuman coldness in his voice made He Dong tremble violently, his face turning deathly pale in an instant.
He Dong tried to say something, but Lin Kuang was already choking him fiercely with the handcuff chain. His face turned red, and he couldn’t utter a single word. He Dong’s body thrashed violently, his hands clawing desperately at the chain Lin Kuang held, trying to break free. But his strength was like an ant’s before Lin Kuang; there was no way he could escape his grasp.
Seeing this, He Dong’s dozen or so bodyguards stood frozen, unsure of what to do as they watched the scene unfold.
In an instant, He Dong’s flushed face turned a deep purple as his feet scraped desperately against the floor. After a minute, his head slumped to one side, and his body went limp.
Lin Kuang smirked. He Dong wasn’t actually dead; he had merely entered a state of simulated death.
He then slapped He Dong forcefully on the back, instantly shattering his internal organs. This time, He Dong was truly dead.
Lin Kuang dropped the handcuffs and let his gaze fall upon the dozen bodyguards. At his gaze, the men shivered and instinctively took a step back in unison.
"What... what are you going to do?" someone asked a very stupid question.
Lin Kuang thought for a moment, then smiled. "Nothing much. I’m just asking if you wish to surrender, or die?"
I had originally planned to kill these men, but it might be useful to keep them alive for now. I’ll decide their fate based on their future performance.
