Chapter 571: Captured
Chapter 571: Captured
Seeing the scene before him, He Dong’s expression momentarily stiffened before turning cold. Looking at Mu Chengzhen, he spoke with a frigid tone, his eyes revealing an unmistakable killing intent. "Mu Chengzhen, do you really think I don’t dare to deal with you?"
Upon hearing his words and seeing his expression, Mu Chengzhen’s face paled as an inexplicable panic rose in his heart. However, when he glanced at the utterly calm Lin Kuang beside him, his courage swelled. "Deal with me? You wouldn’t dare!" Mu Chengzhen scoffed. With Lin Kuang by his side, he wasn’t afraid. Besides, he was the son of Mu Junwen, the Commander of the Hangcheng Military Region! If He Dong dared to kill him, it would be pure suicide. That was why he had the confidence to speak so boldly.
Hearing Mu Chengzhen’s words, He Dong’s face turned even uglier. Indeed, just as Mu Chengzhen had said, He Dong truly didn’t dare to hurt him, let alone kill him. Unless He Dong wanted to die and have the San Ye Sect vanish completely from the East Sea, he would not touch Mu Chengzhen.
"Mu Chengzhen, don’t push me. If it comes to it, we’ll both go down together! Of course, I can give you another choice. Leave this man beside you, and I’ll let you go back!" He Dong’s voice remained cold. With a wave of his hand, over a dozen guns were instantly aimed at Lin Kuang and Mu Chengzhen.
Seeing this, Mu Chengzhen’s expression changed, and he was about to speak, but at that moment, Lin Kuang stretched out his hand to stop him. "Alright, Chengzhen, you can go back. I’ll be fine here." As he spoke, Lin Kuang gave Mu Chengzhen a faint smile.
Hearing this, Mu Chengzhen was stunned. "Brother-in-law! Are you okay? These people are ruthless killers who won’t even blink. Staying here is a death sentence!" His urgent tone was filled with unconcealed worry.
Hearing Mu Chengzhen’s words, Lin Kuang smiled faintly. It seems helping this kid wasn’t for nothing; at least he knows how to be grateful.
"Don’t worry, they won’t hurt me. Be good and go back now. I’ll return on my own later," Lin Kuang said with a smile, patting Mu Chengzhen’s shoulder.
To Lin Kuang, these guys were small fry he could easily handle. However, Mu Chengzhen was still with him. Lin Kuang wasn’t afraid for himself, but what if a stray bullet hit Mu Chengzhen? He had brought Mu Chengzhen out alive; if he returned with a corpse, he would have no way to explain himself. Therefore, having Mu Chengzhen leave for now was the best course of action. After all, Lin Kuang had his own ways to deal with these people.
Mu Chengzhen wanted to protest, but Lin Kuang stopped him again, urging him to leave. Realizing he couldn’t persuade his brother-in-law, Mu Chengzhen gritted his teeth. "Fine, Brother-in-law, I’ll go first." He then turned to He Dong, his expression grim. "He Dong, I’m telling all of you, he is my brother-in-law. If you dare to hurt him, I promise you, the San Ye Sect will cease to exist in Hangcheng!"
At this, He Dong just sneered without a word. Mu Chengzhen said his goodbyes to Lin Kuang and drove away. Once Mu Chengzhen was gone, Lin Kuang breathed a sigh of relief. With Mu Chengzhen gone, he naturally had his own ways of getting out of this situation.
"Get him in the car!" He Dong ordered, then got into his own vehicle. His men roughly pushed and shoved Lin Kuang into a car. Lin Kuang didn’t resist, allowing them to manhandle him; after all, he was curious to see what kind of tricks these people were up to.
He Dong gave the order, "Drive," and the convoy of cars sped away.
Lin Kuang sat calmly in the vehicle, flanked by a man on each side, each pressing a gun to his head as if terrified he would try to escape. The car sped along for about half an hour before pulling up in front of a large building.
He Dong got out first, ordering his men to bring Lin Kuang out. The entire group then entered the building. They reached an elevator, and after everyone stepped inside, He Dong activated it. The elevator descended rapidly toward the basement level. A few seconds later, it came to a smooth stop, and the doors slid open.
"Take him away!" He Dong commanded coldly and strode out.
Lin Kuang calmly observed his surroundings, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. The place was full of sentries, and every man was armed. The security was incredibly tight.
So this is the San Ye Sect’s lair? It looks pretty decent.
As he walked, Lin Kuang looked around, not seeming like a captive in the slightest. He looked more like he was on vacation. Soon, He Dong stopped in front of a door and pushed it open. Lin Kuang was immediately shoved inside after him. Once inside, Lin Kuang found the situation rather amusing.
To put it bluntly, this is an interrogation room. They obviously plan to question me.
"Building your own private interrogation room... You people really have some nerve, huh?" Lin Kuang asked, looking at He Dong with a grin.
"Hmph, we have more nerve than you can imagine!" He Dong snorted coldly and ordered his men to tie Lin Kuang to a chair and handcuff him.
Lin Kuang didn’t mind, sitting down with a smile, completely unfazed by the possibility of being killed.
"Kid, what’s your name?" He Dong asked flatly.
"Me? My name is Lin Kuang," Lin Kuang replied calmly.
"Mu Chengzhen just called you brother-in-law? Didn’t his sister disappear a long time ago? Could it be she isn’t dead?" He Dong asked, a look of confusion on his face.
"Seems like you’re quite well-informed, aren’t you?" Lin Kuang said with a laugh.
"Cut the crap! I’m asking you a question," He Dong snapped, his expression turning ugly.
"Alright, his sister is indeed not dead," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "What else do you want to know?"
Upon hearing this, He Dong couldn’t help but frown.
If Lin Kuang is really Mu Chengzhen’s brother-in-law, then this matter is getting complicated. He’s Mu Junwen’s son-in-law, after all. If they killed him, who knew what Mu Junwen would do? If Mu Junwen, in a fit of rage, brought his troops over, the San Ye Sect would never be able to withstand the assault.
Lin Kuang chuckled when he saw He Dong’s furrowed brow. "What’s wrong? Scared?"
"Shut your damn mouth!" He Dong yelled and swung his fist at Lin Kuang’s head. In response, Lin Kuang just smiled carelessly. With a slight exertion from his legs, he tilted his body and the chair backward, causing He Dong’s punch to miss entirely.
