Chapter 436 436 A Virtue
Chapter 436 436 A Virtue
Thinking this, Lin Guo'er couldn't help but roll her eyes at Lin Kuang. "Hmph, you've never spoken to *me* like that," she said, a little resentfully. Although Hou Mingshi's words had sounded like utter filth, a part of her wished she could hear them from Lin Kuang.
"Ahem, do you really think I would say something so phony? I love you. Isn't that enough?" Lin Kuang said with a smile.
Hearing this, Lin Guo'er's delicate body trembled as her beautiful eyes lit up.
"What… what did you say? Say it again!" she asked excitedly, grabbing his arm.
"I said, Lin Guo'er, I like you. I love you," Lin Kuang repeated, standing before her with a serious expression.
With those words, Lin Guo'er threw herself into Lin Kuang's arms, hugging his back tightly.
"You jerk, why are you being so sappy?" she said shyly, her heart filled with joy.
Lin Kuang gently embraced her delicate body and said with a smile, "How is that sappy? I just wanted to say it. So, does Guo'er love me?"
"I do, I do! I love you to death!" Lin Guo'er said quickly. Then, she planted a firm kiss with her enticing red lips on the corner of his mouth.
Seeing this, Hou Mingshi's face instantly turned deathly pale. He didn't care about Lin Guo'er's rejection; he had plenty of ways to make her submit. But this… this is a blatant slap in the face! My proposal failed, and this guy swoops in and fixes everything with a simple 'I love you.' What is this if not a slap in the face?
At this thought, Hou Mingshi's composure finally snapped. No matter how good his self-control was, he couldn't endure this—especially since he was, at heart, a classless silk-panted fop. In Yanjing, there were far too many of his type, and in the eyes of the truly elite, people like him were absolutely nothing.
"Who are you!" Hou Mingshi demanded as he stood up, his expression turning ugly as he clenched the bouquet of roses in his hand.
At this point, everyone knew what was happening and turned to watch the unfolding drama.
Hearing the question, Lin Kuang released Lin Guo'er and gently moved her behind him.
"Me? I'm Guo'er's husband. Her man. Understand?" Lin Kuang said with a smile.
Hou Mingshi shook his head repeatedly. "Impossible! How is that possible? I've never heard anything about Guo'er getting married! How could you be her husband!" he sputtered in disbelief, his face flushing red.
Lin Kuang was speechless. "Are you an idiot? In this day and age, do you really think you have to be legally married to call someone your husband or wife?"
Hearing Lin Kuang's words, Hou Mingshi froze, his face turning even uglier as he understood. He had thought he could get closer to Lin Guo'er today, and it wouldn't have mattered if the proposal failed. But for Lin Kuang to just show up out of nowhere... that was something Hou Mingshi could not endure!
"Kid, I don't care who you are. Get lost right now. Disappear from my sight, and we can forget this ever happened. Otherwise, prepare to be thrown into the Huangpu River to feed the fish!" Hou Mingshi bellowed, his face contorted with rage.
At the same time, a dozen bodyguards in black suits moved in and surrounded Lin Kuang.
Seeing this, Lin Guo'er couldn't help but worry. She felt things had gotten out of hand and began to fear for Lin Kuang's safety.
Noticing the concern in Lin Guo'er's eyes, Xu Yingying laughed. "Don't worry, Guo'er. With little Kuang here, every problem will be solved with ease. In this country, there are people who can handle Lin Kuang, but that list certainly doesn't include an insignificant whelp like Hou Mingshi. Even his father would be useless against him," she added with a confident smile, squeezing Lin Guo'er's hand.
Lin Guo'er was stunned. "Really? Truly?"
"Of course. Do I look like I'm lying to you?" Xu Yingying asked with a grin.
"You really don't," Lin Guo'er said with a smile, finally and completely at ease.
Lin Kuang watched Hou Mingshi and his bodyguards with a helpless smile. So many people in this world overestimate themselves, blind to the powers they can't afford to provoke. And unfortunately for Hou Mingshi, I happen to be one of those people.
"Throw me into the Huangpu River to feed the fish?" Lin Kuang sneered. "Tsk, tsk. No one in the entire East Sea dares to speak to me like that. Hou Mingshi, do you think you can act so arrogantly just because you're from Yanjing? This is the East Sea! Even in Yanjing, I could crush you with one finger!"
His tone turned icy, his expression grew cold, and a murderous glint flashed in his eyes.
Sensing the shift, Hou Mingshi shuddered. The roses dropped from his hand, and he stumbled back two steps. If his bodyguards hadn't been standing behind him, he probably would have collapsed onto the floor in fear.
"You… you're threatening me?" Hou Mingshi managed to stammer.
"Threaten you? Oh, no, no. You give yourself far too much credit. You aren't even worthy of being threatened by me. I was simply stating a fact. Of course, the truth can often be a bit harsh," Lin Kuang said with a shrug and a smile.
Hearing this, Hou Mingshi's face turned livid with rage.
"Get him! Beat him! Beat him to death!" Hou Mingshi ordered, gritting his teeth. He refused to believe it. So what if this Lin Kuang has some energy in the East Sea? My father is from Yanjing! There's no way I can't deal with him!
At Hou Mingshi's command, contemptuous smirks appeared on the bodyguards' faces.
A cold smirk touched Lin Kuang's lips as well. Since Hou Mingshi is so determined to dig his own grave, I'm more than happy to oblige. After all, helping others fulfill their wishes is a virtue, and I'm very keen on upholding such traditions.
Just then, the dozen or so bodyguards charged all at once, throwing punches and kicks as they swarmed Lin Kuang.
"Hey kid, need some help from yours truly?" Yao Wenwen chimed in with a grin, looking eager for a fight.
"And if I say no, are you going to get mad?" Lin Kuang asked, a hint of resignation in his voice.
"Yes," Yao Wenwen stated seriously.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Lin Kuang replied, feigning a look of grievance.
Hearing this, Yao Wenwen chuckled and charged forward, her long, slender legs shooting out.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
In a flash, six bodyguards clutched their stomachs where she had kicked them, falling to the ground and howling in pain.
Having done this, Yao Wenwen turned to look at Lin Kuang with a proud expression. This young lady took out six that quickly. How about you?
However, when she turned around, she froze.
Lying at Lin Kuang's feet were the other eight men, all of them completely still. He had clearly knocked them unconscious.
Yao Wenwen, who had just been about to gloat, was left utterly speechless. Lin Kuang had been even faster than her. And from his calm and composed posture, it was as if he had barely moved at all.
Thinking of this, Yao Wenwen could only let out a disgruntled snort. "Hmph!"
