Chapter 435 435: Beauty Date

Chapter 435 435: Beauty Date

"Screw you! Do I look like someone who gets worked up easily?" Yao Wenwen suddenly shot to her feet and snapped fiercely.

Lin Kuang was left speechless. "Look at yourself," he said plaintively. "Do you look like someone who *doesn't* get worked up easily?"

"Ah, well, that was just for a moment. Um, just for a moment," Yao Wenwen stammered awkwardly. She then sat back down, looking somewhat relieved.

Across the room, the group of men who saw Yao Wenwen get angry glared daggers at Lin Kuang. How could you make such a beautiful woman angry? You're simply inhuman!

"What are you looking at?!" Yao Wenwen couldn't help but snap at them.

At her words, the men reluctantly turned away, though they continued to shoot resentful glares at Lin Kuang, much to his exasperation.

"Sigh, it must be nice being a beauty," Lin Kuang muttered with a helpless sigh. "So many people rush to her defense, while a handsome guy like me gets no such treatment."

"I don't need their protection," Yao Wenwen snorted, staring at Lin Kuang. "After this is over, you and I are having a match."

"Alright," Lin Kuang said earnestly. "As long as you promise not to lose your cool, I'm in."

Upon hearing this, Lin Guo'er and Xu Yingying shared a helpless look. They didn't even try to dissuade her. It wasn't that they didn't want to; they just knew Yao Wenwen's character. Once she made up her mind, not even nine oxen could pull her back.

"You two had better keep it civil, you hear?" Lin Guo'er couldn't help but interject.

"Don't worry, Guo'er. I won't hurt your little boyfriend," Yao Wenwen said with a grin, seemingly back to her usual self.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang grew inwardly frustrated. This woman… she acts so sure of herself, as if she has me all figured out. She's so arrogant.

Lin Guo'er didn't argue. "Okay," she said simply. "I believe you."

"Oh, right! Yingying, you have to tell me, what exactly is his identity? This jerk still hasn't told me," Lin Guo'er said, suddenly remembering. She had wanted to ask about it earlier, but Yao Wenwen's interruption had made her almost forget.

Xu Yingying glanced at Lin Kuang. "Huh? Little Kuang, you haven't told Guo'er your identity?" she asked curiously.

Lin Kuang nodded awkwardly. "Yeah. I just don't think that stuff is all that important. I am who I am."

"Fine, but Guo'er is just a kid, after all. You should have told her," Xu Yingying said with a helpless sigh.

Lin Kuang relented. "Alright, Sister Yingying, you can be the one to tell her."

"Okay, then I'll be the one to tell her," Xu Yingying said, turning her gaze to Lin Guo'er.

Lin Guo'er leaned in, ready to listen intently. Beside her, Yao Wenwen also pricked up her ears, just as curious about what Lin Kuang did for a living.

Seeing that she had their full attention, Xu Yingying opened her mouth to speak. But at that very moment, the lights on the entire floor suddenly dimmed, plunging the room into pitch-black darkness.

The sudden change startled everyone. Even Lin Kuang scanned his surroundings cautiously, his eyes filled with vigilance.

However, the situation changed again. A single spotlight blazed to life, illuminating Lin Guo'er perfectly. The space around her was instantly as bright as day. Simultaneously, soft music began to play as a second spotlight hit the far end of the room.

From that spot, a man in a silver suit and gold-rimmed glasses emerged. He appeared to be just under thirty, with neatly combed hair and a very polished image—one might even call him a refined beast... oh, no, a refined handsome man.

The man held a bouquet of fiery red roses. With a smile, he began walking step-by-step toward Lin Guo'er. Time itself seemed to slow down as he moved with unhurried grace, eventually stopping before her, his face lit with a broad smile.

Under the gaze of everyone present, the man suddenly dropped to one knee. He offered the fiery red roses to Lin Guo'er and said, "Guo'er, I've liked you for a long time. Today, in front of everyone, I want to say that I love you. Will you please marry me?"

His gaze was full of affection, and his tone overflowed with such deep emotion that he truly looked like a man smitten by love.

Seeing this, many people were stunned. The next moment, someone shouted, "Lin Guo'er, marry him! Marry Mr. Hou! Marry Mr. Hou!"

A crowd began to roar in approval, their voices deafening and making the scene incredibly dramatic.

All eyes were now on Lin Guo'er, whose expression was remarkably calm. Although Hou Mingshi's actions had startled her for a moment, she had already composed herself.

Standing up, Lin Guo'er spoke calmly, her tone tinged with a slight apology. "I'm sorry, Mr. Hou. I'm afraid I can't accept your proposal."

At this, the cheering stopped abruptly, and an awkward silence fell over the room.

Hou Mingshi's expression, however, remained calm, as if he had anticipated this very outcome. He did not stand up but remained kneeling, his eyes filled with affection as he spoke again.

"Guo'er, I know. I know you might not be able to accept this right away, but please believe me when I say that I love you. I truly, truly love you.

"From our university days until now, you are the only woman I have ever loved. I believe that if you marry me, I can make you happy and joyful.

"Guo'er, even though you didn't say yes, please, just give me a chance. Give me a chance to love you, a chance to take care of you, okay?"

As he spoke, he once again raised the bouquet of roses, offering them to Lin Guo'er.

His words made her feel nauseous. Yes, disgusted. She knew Hou Mingshi's character all too well. He was a philanderer who was mesmerized by any beautiful woman he saw. He had ruined at least eighty women, if not a hundred. The words coming out of his mouth were less pleasant than a fart.

However, given Hou Mingshi's status, Lin Guo'er found it difficult to reject him so bluntly.

Just as Lin Guo'er was pondering how to refuse, a figure suddenly stepped forward.

Coming to stand beside Lin Guo'er, Lin Kuang spoke with feigned exasperation, "Honey, this guy is proposing to you right in front of me. How do you expect me to feel about that?" As he spoke, he gently wrapped an arm around her slender waist, pulling her firmly into his embrace.

Lin Guo'er froze, momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected Lin Kuang to be so direct, but she couldn't have been happier.
