Chapter 938 - 936: Unsolicited Kindness, Part 2 (Second Update)

"Hmm..." Fang Kai seemed unwilling to speak more, lightly responded, and went into the kitchen.Brother Chao followed him, leaned against the kitchen door watching Fang Kai skillfully pour water into the pot, light the fire, then take out noodles, fatty beef, and greens from the fridge, placing them in order. His actions were smooth and seamless, clearly showing he was experienced.

When putting in the noodles, Fang Kai finally noticed someone standing by the door, yet he didn’t look up, simply asking, "Have you eaten?"

Brother Chao was so moved he almost cried, "Wow, I thought you’d forgotten all about me."

Fang Kai completely ignored his sarcasm, and without asking if he had eaten, directly put a single portion of noodles into the pot.

Brother Chao, thoroughly ignored, could only speak up, "Although I’ve eaten, I’m a bit hungry again now, make it half of your portion for me."

Fang Kai remained silent and directly grabbed another handful of noodles and put them into the pot.

Brother Chao stared at him, somewhat helplessly saying, "You’re clearly prioritizing romance over friendship, chatting enthusiastically with Si Han earlier, but looking at me you find me annoying, is that it?"

Fang Kai finally raised his eyelid to glance at him, but only for a moment, "There’s nothing to discuss with you!"

With multiple imaginary arrows piercing him, Brother Chao felt life was worse than death.

A thought had lingered on the edge of his mind, unspoken out of fear, but now he gathered the courage, gritted his teeth, and asked, staring at the tall figure, "Fang Kai, do you like Si Han?"

The tall figure froze momentarily, didn’t respond, and continued, grabbing a handful of vegetables and washing them in the sink.

"Fang Kai, although I don’t know Si Han’s background exactly, judging by her usual attire and presence, plus her sophistication, she must be from a family ordinary people can’t compare to. Think about it, she’s been in this circle for just over a year, and her popularity is almost top-tier, yet her actual work only includes one piece and she never stirs up scandals, remaining low-key. Despite that, her popularity remains high, firstly because of her favorable audience relationships, secondly because her manager Tian Fang has some tactics, but mostly, it’s about her backing..."

"Si Han isn’t popular because of backing! She has capital and talent!"

Brother Chao said a lot, Fang Kai remained mute, but when it came to Si Han’s reputation, he interrupted Brother Chao urgently, claiming he had nothing to hide which Brother Chao obviously didn’t believe.

Brother Chao was smart, noticing Fang Kai’s tone, he backed down quickly, raising his hands in surrender, "Yes, I know she’s not, she indeed has that talent..."

Originally, Brother Chao wanted to add that many talented actors exist, why her alone is so lucky to become popular within a year?

But seeing Fang Kai’s darkened face, he swallowed his comments back.

So be it, even if he spoke those words, they’d be grating to the movie star’s ears and he might not listen, plus being annoyed and dismissing him wouldn’t do him any good.

Seeing the one he meticulously nurtured for years becoming a hot star fall for romance, he felt unwilling!

But at present, the star didn’t seem to be in a listening mood?

Forget it, maybe hold these words for now and find a better opportunity to talk later.

Meanwhile, Si Han, unaware of the dispute concerning her in another apartment, reheated her lunch, and started watching a movie while eating. She just had a couple of bites before the phone she’d barely put down started ringing again, this time she checked the caller ID before answering.

"Brother!"

"Have you eaten?" Da Bao’s gentle voice came from the receiver.

Nuonuo, with food still in her mouth, mumbled, "I’m eating now..."

"Why so late? Were you so engrossed in the movie you forgot to eat?"

These days Nuonuo had been studying historical dramas seriously, something Da Bao, being both brother and bedmate, was well aware of.

And Nuonuo’s stubborn single-mindedness was something Da Bao understood more clearly than others.

"Hmm..." With too much food in her mouth making her talk inconvenient, Nuonuo swallowed her food rigorously.

"Take your time eating, no rush, call me when you’re full." Da Bao didn’t want to disturb her meal and after hearing her softly affirm, he hung up.

Nuonuo then paused the movie, finished her meal focusedly, took out her phone, and dialed back, using the recent call log.

"Are you full?" Upon the call connecting, Da Bao spoke first.

"Yep, I’m full. Have you eaten, brother?"

"I have. At noon, I went out with the young master to meet clients, ate outside. They had excellent old-style roasted chicken, let’s go try it on Saturday."

"Okay!" Although just full, Nuonuo, a genuine foodie, instinctively swallowed upon hearing about tasty food.

"What, hungry again so soon?" Da Bao, picking up on Nuonuo’s loud gulping, chuckled over the receiver.

"No way..." Nuonuo pouted in protest.

Understanding his limits, Da Bao didn’t delve further and instead asked, "When I called earlier you were busy, was the phone broken?"

Simple-minded Nuonuo didn’t overthink and responded honestly, "Not broken, Fang Kai called me. I’d just watched movies all morning and couldn’t figure out some parts, so I asked him for advice for quite a while."

"Oh..." Da Bao responded thoughtfully, then asked, "Did you talk for long?"

Nuonuo really calculated seriously, "Um... he called past eleven, chatted almost till one, over an hour."

Silence followed on the line, leaving Nuonuo wondering if it was disconnected, "Brother?"

"Hmm, be mindful of calls, no matter the importance of movie matters, it’s never as important as your stomach, okay? Didn’t Mom often say Dad forgot meals often, hence causing gastric issues, remaining unresolved up to now?"

Nuonuo obediently nodded, "Yes, I got it."

After chatting a bit more, Da Bao finally asked what fruit or snacks she wanted, he’d bring them over post-work.

"Oh, I want a peach!" Nuonuo replied without hesitation.

"Alright, I’ll bring you some after work, you go digest a bit in the yard, and later take a nap to rest."

After obediently hanging up, Nuonuo went to the yard to play bone games with the dogs, playing till yawning repetitively, then rose and went inside for a nap.
