Chapter 1160: Descent
Chapter 1160: Descent
Heaven was vast—like a space without borders.
Above the firmament, higher still, there was a place that constantly radiated divine light: the Sanctuary of the Lord, the dwelling place of the Most High.
Within the firmament were various regions.
The City of Saints—also known as the Holy City—was where angels were born, educated, and resided. When an angel died, it would be reborn in the sacred pool within the city, bathed in holy light. The power of the sacred pool came from the radiance of the Sanctuary; as long as the light of the Sanctuary endured, the sacred pool would never cease to function.
There was also the Land of the Prayerful—home to pure souls and the most devout believers of the Lord.
The land beneath the firmament was also part of Heaven, known as the Homeland of the Saints. It held the world’s most beautiful scenery—untouched earth, mountains, rivers, and grasslands.
Now, however, that sacred land was engulfed in war—flames of corruption raged across it, ignited by the invaders known as the Transcendent.
From one sacred city after another, angels rose from the sacred pools and flew out tirelessly to fight off the intruders.
For some newly born angels, this sudden warfare was hard to process—they had never imagined an enemy could breach Heaven.
“Metatron! Get over here! You’re standing on the activation point for the city’s defense cannons!”A harsh voice snapped the newborn angel Metatron from his daze. Startled, he quickly spread his wings and flew away from the spot.
“Archangel Kamael.” Metatron landed beside one of the city’s archangel instructors, his expression filled with fear—an emotion rarely seen among low-level angels.
Kamael frowned, but the battle situation was intense. Already, four Transcendents had broken through the defenses and infiltrated the holy city, causing massive destruction—seemingly targeting the sacred pool used for angelic rebirth.
“Where did these invaders come from?” Metatron asked, staring in disbelief at the damage wrought upon the city.
Their power was overwhelming. No matter how many lower angels charged, they were instantly vaporized. Only Archangels could withstand a single blow.
“They’re called the Transcendent—rebels who voluntarily exiled themselves from the worlds, hiding within the dimensional rift,” said Kamael grimly. “Any who invade the Lord’s Heaven are enemies. But they won’t be able to attack for long.”
“Why not?” Metatron asked instinctively.
“Invading Heaven requires vast power to interfere with the Lord’s divine radiance beyond this realm. Every second they remain here drains them. Heaven is acknowledged by all world-consciousness. But the Transcendent, having exiled themselves, are no longer recognized by it. Without that recognition, their power will quickly weaken.”
Kamael said no more. He flew to Metatron’s original position and began operating part of the holy city’s defense system.
A massive halo spread outward from his location—the Ring of Holy Light.
Metatron widened his eyes. It was a divine blessing that enhanced all angels’ abilities. Simultaneously, holy cannons powered by radiant energy across the city fired toward the invading Transcendents.
“Only a few of us made it in… seems like we can’t take this city easily,” said one of the invaders—a shirtless, dark-skinned, golden-haired Transcendent—as he effortlessly blocked the blasts. “We’re short on time… Albert, I’ll leave these attacks to you. I’m going to destroy the city’s central defense system.”
Albert, white-haired and calm, sighed. “I’d prefer to be in my lab continuing my research… but as a mentor, I can’t avoid these battles. My junior needs the experience. Please forgive me, apostles of God. May your energy find peace.”
Robert frowned slightly at Albert’s muttering. At that moment, a massive storm of radiant energy from the angels bore down on Albert.
He stood alone before a tidal wave of divine power. Robert’s face grew grim.
Yet Albert merely lifted a finger and traced a strange formula in the air. It was short enough to finish before the energy struck. Then—he flicked his finger. The formula shattered.
And all the divine attacks… vanished without a trace.
This... this is a Transcendent’s power?
Robert’s pupils contracted slightly.
According to Albert, Robert had joined the Transcendent, but hadn’t yet become a full member. Until he completed Albert’s experiments, he was only a quasi-Transcendent.
While stunned, a sword of divine light suddenly lunged toward him. A direct hit—launched by an archangel.
Yet the blade passed through him harmlessly. Robert’s body had split into countless particles… then recombined.
The attack—nullified.
“A phantom?!” the archangel cried out in shock.
Robert reformed before the angel and slashed forward with his arm. “They say it’s abnormal quantumization… I’m not entirely sure myself.”
The archangel’s body shattered and turned into a beam of golden light, returning to the sacred pool. Before vanishing, he saw Robert’s ghostly blue, flame-like eyes.
Robert clenched his fist slowly, examining the hand that had struck. It was the result of the first experiment in Albert’s powerful quantum collider—a strange power he didn’t fully understand. Apparently, it diverted attacks into another dimension. If evolved, Albert claimed it might even affect the timeline.
That power was far off, but battle would sharpen his current abilities. And these strong angelic opponents made excellent sparring partners.
Just then, Heaven’s skies above began to ripple.
From those twisted waves, grotesque, terrifying forms began to struggle into existence—screaming, echoing across the heavens.
Albert glanced up and murmured, “It’s begun… the feast of the Void Abyss Demon.”
…
“What is that?!”
Metatron stared at the terrifying creatures emerging from the sky above, each radiating extreme evil.
“The invaders… they brought these rift-dwellers with them!”
Archangel Kamael’s face paled. He recognized them—Void Abyss Demons—and their target was clear: the Land of the Prayerful, home of the Lord’s faithful!
“Damn it! They want to devour the Prayerful!” Kamael cried out, but was powerless. No angel in the city could stop the four Transcendents.
“If only Lord Lucifer were still here… these heretics wouldn’t dare!”
But the Morning Star had long since fallen… and become the King of Hell.
“Kamael!”
Suddenly, Metatron screamed in warning.
Kamael froze for an instant—then his body shattered and turned into golden light, retreating into the sacred pool.
“…First defense node, destroyed.”
A golden-haired, dark-skinned, bare-chested man suddenly appeared. With a mighty roar, he slammed his fist into the ground.
A terrifying shockwave erupted from him as the epicenter, flattening surrounding buildings in an instant. Over a hundred low-ranking angels were instantly turned into golden light under the impact. The surrounding area was reduced to rubble.
The man shook his wrist and tilted his head. “Oh? You actually blocked that… You’re a bit different, little angel.”
“Lord Kamael…”
From beneath the rubble, Metatron pushed off a massive stone pressing against him. Clutching his injured shoulder, he staggered to his feet.
He looked at the destroyed area where Kamael and the other angels had been. Just recently, they had all been together, studying alternate dimensions and listening to Kamael tell stories about the Lord.
“Beowulf! Don’t stop!”
A voice rang out. The dark-skinned, golden-haired man looked up and replied, “You go left. I’ll finish off this little thing and head for the next core point.”
The Transcendent who spoke didn’t linger, breaking through the defenses of the lower angels at high speed and disappearing into another corner of the Holy City.
Beowulf, the dark man, turned his attention to Metatron and slowly walked over. “Oh? Little angel, I see rage and hatred in your eyes. You puppets… have emotions? And such impure ones, too—by Heaven’s standards.”
Gritting his teeth and enduring the pain in his arm, Metatron raised his uninjured hand and summoned a sword of holy light.
“AHHH—!!!”
With a roar, Metatron charged at Beowulf. But as his blade struck Beowulf’s body, it snapped in two instantly.
Metatron’s expression changed drastically, and before he could react, a heavy punch landed squarely on his chest.
His body was slammed into the ground, the cracked streets collapsing further beneath him.
Unconscious, Metatron lay still. But Beowulf frowned—his punch hadn’t shattered the angel’s body.
“What’s up with this little angel…” he muttered, raising his fist again without hesitation.
As his fist descended, a faint light began to glow from Metatron’s body—a tiny, fragile-looking cocoon of holy light.
That weak cocoon… actually blocked Beowulf’s fist.
“What is this?”
Suddenly, a fierce burst of divine energy exploded from Metatron’s body. In an instant, the faint light surged into a towering pillar of radiance!
Metatron’s unconscious body slowly rose within the pillar. Wings began to unfold behind him.
Six… ten… eighteen… thirty-six!
Thirty-six pure white wings!
Metatron slowly lifted his head, his face expressionless. He raised a hand and pointed at Beowulf.
“God said… let there be light.”
A whisper-like voice.
A single beam of holy light pierced directly through Beowulf’s chest—too fast for him to react.
Beowulf’s body immediately began to disintegrate. He stared in disbelief as he crumbled.
Death.
Unlike angels who could be reborn through the sacred pool, Transcendents—rootless wanderers—once dead, stayed dead.
…
The massive light pillar rising from the Holy City shocked all the Transcendents—and the powerful seraphs serving under “Him.”
Locked in battle with Lionheart, Gabriel suddenly stopped, his gaze turning to the shining beam within the Holy City.
Lionheart also froze, his expression shifting. “Beowulf was actually…”
That light pillar didn’t just startle—it carried an overwhelming, terrifying divine power that surpassed most Transcendents.
“This holy light is…” Gabriel’s face darkened.
At the same time, Flame of God Uriel’s voice echoed in Gabriel’s ears, “It’s him! That monster! He… really awakened? Holy Light Metatron…”
“I don’t know yet… but—”
Gabriel looked toward the Land of the Prayerful. “If the Void Abyss Demons reach that place, the consequences will be catastrophic… Hopefully Raphael can hold them off. Michael is still off-world on a crusade. For now, it’s just us… protecting the Father’s glory.”
He raised his scepter and looked at Lionheart with disgust. “Foolish Lionheart… You will pay for your sins.”
“History is always written by the victors,” Lionheart laughed maniacally, raising both hands. “Infinite—Sword of Victory!!”
Like a raging storm, a barrage of terrifying slashes surged toward Gabriel.
Gabriel met them head-on, unflinching.
…
The Land of the Prayerful.
Atop a high tower, a gentle-faced seraph softly played a harmonica. The music, like a divine melody, soothed the souls of the faithful.
It eased their fear. The calm sound drifted gently in the wind.
Raphael set down the harmonica, gazing toward the sky, where Void Abyss Demons were tearing through the dimensional rift. His face turned grim.
And they weren’t alone—several Transcendents had arrived ahead of them.
A beam of light shot from the Holy City. Raphael frowned deeper, sighed, and looked to the distance.
“The Land of the Prayerful is no place for your chaos. Leave. Don’t disturb the rest of these souls,” he said softly.
“Haha, the Angel of Life… Raphael. The name doesn’t do justice to meeting you in person.” A cheerful voice responded—it came from a flirtatious man in a crimson robe.
Lord Longyang.
He wasn’t alone. Other Transcendents had gathered—Dong Zhuo, Solomon, Zangjian, Oda—and three more hidden in the shadows.
“Oh? Longyang, you’ve got your eye on another one?” laughed Dong Zhuo, fat as a mountain, squinting gleefully. He held an angel’s severed arm.
“In that case,” Raphael said calmly, wings unfolding behind him, “I’ll have to drive you out.” He took to the sky from the tower.
“No rush. Let’s have some fun first…” Dong Zhuo licked his lips. “These Void Demons were hard to catch—think of them as a gift from us to Heaven.”
The Transcendents stood on the outskirts of the Land of the Prayerful. Above them, countless Void Abyss Demons plunged from the sky in a frenzied dive!
Not just here—since emerging from the rift, the demons had invaded every corner of Heaven—
The Saints’ Homeland, the Holy City, the Land of the Prayerful… even the Sanctuary of the Lord above the clouds!
Raphael narrowed his eyes and waved his hand.
From the Land of the Prayerful, a host of angels soared into the sky, confronting the invaders from the dimensional rift.
Now—the real battle had begun.
And it had only been ten minutes since the Transcendents first invaded.
At that moment, a great number of angels were falling under the assault of the Void Abyss Demons… Above the firmament, the void demons rampaged, but likewise, some were being slain by the angels and plummeting from the sky.
One Void Abyss Demon, its body already torn apart, crashed into the Land of the Prayerful.
But it wasn’t completely dead.
With only half of its body remaining, the void demon acted on instinct—it had found a land filled with delicious food: the Prayerful, pure and devout souls full of sacred faith.
Dragging itself forward, mouth wide open in a monstrous grin, it lunged toward the nearest Prayerful…
Only for its head to suddenly be pinned to the ground, as if nailed by something invisible.
It froze instantly.
“These are offerings meant for my master. You beasts come without asking and try to devour them? That really puts me in a difficult position…”
From the half-body of the void demon, a black mist began to form… gradually shaping into a human figure.
A woman—beautiful to the point of enchantment, her eyes seductive like a demon’s, capable of stealing one's soul with a glance. Her form was almost flawless.
A crown of serpents sat upon her head, a scepter in her hand…
She casually waved the scepter, and the other void demons that had fallen into the Land of the Prayerful didn’t even have time to rise before their bodies began rapidly withering away—until they crumbled to dust.
“Hm… seems like my power has weakened a bit.”
She glanced around idly, then gazed thoughtfully at the heavens above the firmament. She murmured, “The master… has changed?”
Looking over the advancing army of Void Abyss Demons, she smiled faintly. Her scepter tapped gently against the earth… a stream of spiritual light slithered from beneath her feet, resembling a golden serpent.
She stroked the serpent’s head and narrowed her eyes, calmly observing the distant Transcendents and the demon horde.
“So, where should I begin? I suppose I should clean up these beasts first. It’d be such a shame if these lovely Prayerful were tainted…”
She raised her scepter and pointed toward the endless army of void demons, chanting softly:
—"Born of Egypt’s sunset, the serpent of the end… by the final Pharaoh’s decree, I command you..."
But just as she began the incantation, her voice suddenly paused. The glowing golden serpent raised its head and flicked its red tongue.
She looked up.
Between the battlefield of angels and Void Abyss Demons, an unusual distortion began to form—neither of Heavenly origin nor the dimensional interference.
Space twisted.
From the swirling vortex, a massive figure was slowly being pulled into view…
As it fully emerged from the rift, its presence became clear to her, to Raphael, and to the Transcendents like Lord Longyang.
A colossal figure—ten meters tall.
Female in form, with radiant wings extended behind her, but not a living being—rather, she resembled an immense mechanical doll.

【LA——!】
The giant automaton opened its arms slightly, releasing a chant-like cry.
A crimson wave of light surged from it, slicing straight through the descending Void Abyss Demons. The demons, upon contact with the red beam, disintegrated instantly into ash…
