Chapter 1161: On the Brink of Chaos
Chapter 1161: On the Brink of Chaos
On the battlefield between the angels and the Void Abyss Demons, the sudden appearance of a massive mechanical construct unleashed a devastating blow the moment it arrived—targeting the Void Abyss Demons specifically.
Its arrival puzzled not only Raphael, who was guarding the Land of the Prayerful, but also surprised the group of Transcendents led by Lord Longyang, who had been waiting for the right moment to act.
At the very least, since the giant construct was attacking the Void Abyss Demons, Raphael chose not to reveal his doubts for the time being.
At this moment—
The ten-meter-tall construct, remarkably agile and fast, showed no signs of slowing. It charged into the ranks of the Void Abyss Demons like a weapon made purely for battle, tearing through them effortlessly.
“Is that thing… a new type of soldier from Heaven?”
In the distance, Lord Longyang thoughtfully watched the giant construct dominating the battlefield and furrowed his elegant brows. “I don’t recall ever hearing of such a thing appearing in Heaven.”
Dong Zhuo squinted and silently observed the entire time.
Zangjian suddenly waved her hand, sending out a sword shadow that collided with the construct’s red beam of light. The sword shadow then swiftly returned to her side.
Her long sword remained intact, glowing with a strange radiance.Several Transcendents looked toward Zangjian. Lord Longyang asked softly, “What do you think?”
Zangjian calmly replied, “That strange red light the construct emits is powerful… but given it's attacking Void Abyss Demons, the level of damage it's dealing is unusual.”
All present had evolved their lifeforms to extremely high levels, and they quickly caught on. “You’re saying this construct’s red light inherently restrains the Void Abyss Demons?”
Zangjian nodded. “Only an attribute that counters them naturally could cause this level of destruction.”
Lord Longyang frowned. “We’ve lived in the dimensional rift for a long time… even among us or the Thrones, no one has ever developed a power that counters the Void Demons. If this construct belongs to Heaven, then that would mean He has found a way to restrain them?”
It was a mystery none of the Transcendents present could answer—but the construct’s appearance had thrown everything into disarray.
“This machine clearly counters the Void Abyss Demons… as if it was created for the sole purpose of fighting them,” Dong Zhuo said darkly. “Even ancestral-tier demons couldn’t withstand its attack. It looks like the demons we released this time aren’t enough to stop it…”
“Master Dong?” Lord Longyang asked with a frown.
Dong Zhuo patted his belly and said, “The Thrones’ interference time is limited… Attacking the Land of the Prayerful was only meant to stall Heaven. Since it’s not working out, we might as well focus elsewhere.”
Then Dong Zhuo shot into the sky—heading straight for the highest realm of Heaven: the Lord’s Sanctuary. Oda followed without hesitation.
“Outrageous!”
Seeing them head toward the sanctuary, Raphael couldn’t hide his anger. As the Angel of Life, he immediately abandoned the battlefield and pursued Dong Zhuo.
But just then, several sword shadows merged into a spinning sword wheel, blocking Raphael’s path. At the same time, Lord Longyang drew his sword.
With a flash of his crimson robe, a piece of Raphael’s white garment was cut off.
Lord Longyang smiled slightly. “No need to rush. The time for interference is short. Why not spend it properly… with me? Zangjian, stay out of this.”
“Yes,” Zangjian simply nodded. Her sword wheel dispersed into five swords, orbiting her gracefully.
“Exiles of the world… do you really think you can casually invade the Lord’s sanctuary?” Raphael sighed. “Have you already forgotten the Lord’s Judgment Day?”
“Who hasn’t heard of Judgment Day?” Lord Longyang smiled. “But I doubt He would unleash it in His own kingdom so easily.”
“You will pay for today,” Raphael said softly. His white robe vanished, replaced by gleaming silver armor.
“Getting serious now?”
Lord Longyang’s smile faded. He slowly raised his sword, and beneath him bloomed a dazzling red lotus.
“This sword art was created by a close friend of mine… I later refined it and gave it a new name: Red Lotus Elegy.”
Countless red lotuses bloomed across the sky.
…
Unlike Dong Zhuo and Oda, the other three Transcendents did not follow. Nor did they, like Lord Longyang, engage Raphael.
Instead, they took advantage of the chaos to slip into the Land of the Prayerful.
“Haven’t seen Lord Longyang get serious in ages. Looks like he really found someone he likes… damn perv.”
“Enough. We don’t have much time. Dong Zhuo may think we’ve failed here, but I don’t. These Prayerful are pure and devout—too valuable to leave behind. If we can’t destroy them, we can at least take them.”
“Agreed. We’ve got about fifteen minutes, right? While Longyang and Zangjian keep Raphael busy, let’s grab as many of these Prayerful as we can… the Throne of Rahu will love them.”
But just then, a strange unease crept in.
Without them noticing, a gray fog had begun rising from beneath their feet—quietly blanketing the area.
All three Transcendents, highly alert and powerful, quickly sensed the danger. But before they could act, something slithered through the fog—
A giant golden serpent.
It coiled around them instantly!
“Just a snake?!”
The three Transcendents tried to summon their power to break free—but found their strength rapidly fading!
Not because they lacked power… but because their energy was being drained away at a terrifying speed!
“It’s poison! This gray fog is poisoned!”
“We’re Transcendents! What poison could possibly work on us?!”
And yet—black veins began to spread across their faces. In mere seconds, their skin began rotting!
Meanwhile, the golden serpent tightened its coils, crushing them further.
“Who… Who are you?!”
Amid the thick gray fog, a graceful silhouette began to appear—clearer and clearer.
A woman, holding a scepter, wearing a snake crown, her gaze deadly and seductive. Several small glowing golden serpents coiled around her, lifting her gracefully into the air.
“You’re a bit too free, don’t you think?” she said calmly. “If you just stayed hidden in the rift, no one would care what you did. But this place… is under my protection. And these Prayerful? They’re not yours to take.”
“Y-You… who are you?!”
The woman radiated an intensely demonic aura at all times.
She leaned back, and the golden serpents made of divine light instantly wove themselves together into a throne of serpents, catching her gently as she reclined.
She covered her mouth with a soft laugh. “If you don’t know who I am, forget it. But don’t think that just because you’ve escaped from that spacetime, you’re now omnipotent… You know nothing about true power. Stepping outside of its spacetime is only the beginning.”
Agonized screams erupted from the three Transcendents. Their bodies began to rot even faster!
Their flesh peeled away, leaving them looking like grotesque fiends. In the end, all three Transcendents collapsed into pools of blood and pus.
“Oh, and just so you know… this isn’t poison. It’s a plague.”
With a chuckle, the gray mist gradually dissipated. On the streets of the Land of the Prayerful, all that remained were a few smears of blood...
The woman silently floated up to one of the tall towers in the Land of the Prayerful—once the place where the Angel of Life played the harmonica.
Yet, she didn’t bother watching the duel between Raphael and Lord Longyang. Instead, she curiously observed the giant mechanical construct still slaughtering the Void Abyss Demons.
“That thing shouldn’t belong to God… Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been a need to awaken me,” she murmured, increasingly puzzled. “Just what is it? Even I’ve never seen it before… It seems to have been made purely to deal with the Void Abyss Demons.”
She soon settled into her seat. To her, it didn’t matter how many Transcendents invaded Heaven through interference—if they didn’t come to the Land of the Prayerful, it wasn’t her concern.
But if any dared step into the Land of the Prayerful, she’d deal with them all. However many came, however many stayed behind—simple as that.
“Hmm…” She let out a sigh, soft and sensual like a moan, then giggled. “I wonder if this new master is someone who understands elegance…”
Covering her mouth as she yawned again, she muttered, “Only about a year left of this rotation… I should be getting replaced soon. It’s been so long since I’ve wandered through other realms.”
…
Before Dong Zhuo and Oda reached the Heavenly Sanctuary above the clouds, a group of Transcendents had already arrived—more than twenty of them.
These were the main force for the mission to rescue Noah. Each was a seasoned Transcendent, and at the very least had broken the limits of the mortal realm over a millennium ago.
“Heh, the outer layer of the Sanctuary has already been breached. They’re working hard,” Dong Zhuo commented as he descended, glancing around. The area was deserted, though traces of battle marked the interior.
The Sanctuary was divided into three heavens. According to their intel, Noah was likely imprisoned in the third heaven—Eden. The Transcendents ahead had already broken through the first and second heavens and were now attacking the defenses of the third.
Oda pressed a hand to his ear, his face darkening. “We need to move quickly. Reports say Michael is returning from World No. 99 with his troops.”
“He won’t make it in time.” Dong Zhuo waved dismissively. “Whether we succeed or fail, he won’t get here before it’s over.”
That said, Dong Zhuo didn’t head toward the third heaven but instead diverted into an area in the first.
“We’re not helping with the third heaven?”
Dong Zhuo grinned. “We have other tasks.”
…
Their one true divine spirit was the all-knowing, all-powerful, triune Holy God.
But before the third heaven, over twenty Transcendents were stopped by a single figure—a man in white robes, linen garments, with a gentle, compassionate face. Anyone who could stand alone against twenty Transcendents held a unique status in Heaven.
The Son of God, Jesus—He shared the same divine nature as the Holy Father.
“Heaven is as stubborn as ever.”
Facing the Son of God, the Transcendents quietly calculated their remaining time and looked for ways to break through.
“Please, all of you—leave now. Do not cause further destruction.” Jesus sighed. “The Ark belongs to Heaven. Noah stole it and is a sinner. We are not declaring war. We are simply retrieving what is ours.”
“Oh please. Only Noah can operate the Ark. Without him, it’s just a wreck. And even if you are the Son of God, there’s no way you can stop over twenty of us alone.”
Jesus replied calmly, “Interference time is limited. If we surpass it, I might keep a few of you here… to hear the teachings of the Father.”
“You’re right—we don’t have much time. But we only need to reach the third heaven. That’s our mission.”
Jesus’s brows furrowed. And in the next instant, over twenty Transcendents exploded with immense power—enough to shake Heaven itself!
“This is bad…” Jesus’s face changed. “A double interference?!”
Before He could act, He stepped forward and released a surge of overwhelming holy power from His hands—but it was intercepted before it could take effect.
A giant hand blocked the holy light!
A massive rift tore open above the third heaven. The hand extended from within, and as it widened the tear, a colossal arm pushed its way through!
Then came the rest of the body—immense, struggling to squeeze through the narrow rift. The entire third heaven trembled violently.
Jesus’s face darkened. From this giant figure, He sensed an intense evil… In contrast to Heaven’s purity, it was unmistakably vile.
“The evil god… Ahriman,” Jesus said grimly. “So this was your plan… Archimedes initiates interference, and you execute a double interference to bring Ahriman here?”
“And me too!”
Almost simultaneously, a thunderous voice boomed!
A second rift split open, and an even more enormous figure emerged—larger than even the so-called evil god.
Jesus’s expression grew graver. He recognized this figure too. “Not just Ahriman… but Chronos as well. So you’ve come prepared. Three Thrones involved—Archimedes, Ahriman, and Chronos.”
Ahriman, the source of evil in the Persian pantheon…
Chronos, king of the second generation of Greek gods…
Faced with these two ancient divine spirits, Jesus could not remain calm. And in that moment of shaken faith—a flaw appeared.
BOOM!
The sky-shaking giant, Chronos, threw a massive punch!
Standing over a hundred meters tall, the King of the Gods unleashed a fist like a meteor.
One blow—and the third heaven shattered.
The destructive energy stormed through everything like a divine apocalypse!
Inside Eden, the figure meditating in silence opened their eyes. The sacred land had collapsed. Flames surged, the ground burned—turning into a living hell.
And the two titanic beings descended upon this scorched crimson land—looking down upon all below.
A golden light descended beside Him—it was none other than the Son of God, who had been blocking the Transcendents outside the Third Heaven. Upon arriving, the Son of God wore a look of concern. “Father, I didn’t expect both the Evil God and Chronos to act personally…”
He gently shook His head and said quietly, “Just do your best. Until the very end, I…”
The Son of God nodded, then looked toward Noah—who, though free within Eden, could not leave unless a greater force tore him away from Eden’s restraints. Clearly, to achieve this, the Transcendents had summoned three Thrones at once.
The Son of God slowly rose into the air, alone facing both the Evil God and Chronos.
“Son of God, do you think you alone can stand against us? Even if you share the same divine essence as the Father… most of your power is already gone, isn’t it?” the Evil God sneered arrogantly.
But the Son of God gave no reply. He only slowly spread His hands, unleashing a vast surge of divine light that began calming the fires raging in Eden. And that divine power… showed no sign of stopping—it continued to rise!
Countless rays of golden light streamed down from the Land of the Prayerful in the clouds, fusing into the Son of God's body, making His divine light blaze even brighter. It grew so strong that He could now resist the combined fields of both the Evil God and Chronos.
This development clearly caught them off guard.
“What are Dong Zhuo and the others doing?! The Land of the Prayerful hasn’t been destroyed yet?!” the Evil God roared in fury, and then with a thunderous howl, his colossal body plunged downward!
The battle between the Son of God and the Evil God erupted instantly. Above them, Chronos fixed his gaze on Him, seemingly searching for an opening. At the same time, he was deconstructing Eden’s seal on Noah, preparing to extract him at any moment.
Within the Third Heaven, the war between the Son of God and the Evil God shook the heavens—on a scale that made the battles below between angels and Transcendents look like mere child’s play.
Though the fires had died down, the storm had returned.
Amid the chaos, a small golden serpent slithered slowly toward Him, finally stopping before His feet.
The golden serpent raised its body and flicked its red tongue, but instead of a hiss, it spoke in a melodious voice: “God, I have to remind You… at the current rate of depletion, the Land of the Prayerful won’t meet next cycle’s quota. Or are You planning to pad the numbers with Your children again? It wouldn’t be the first time.”
“Thank you for the reminder, Lady Cleopatra,” He sighed. “I… will not abandon My children again.”
“Heh… So, does that mean You’ll make a move Yourself?”
He did not answer. Instead, He rose to His feet, looked to the sky, and said softly, “Return.”
“Father?” the Son of God said in surprise.
And yet, he felt a power irresistible to even him pulling him from the battlefield—returning him to Eden.
At the same time, the light rising from the Land of the Prayerful converged around Him—and the tremors shaking the Third Heaven began to subside.
Seeing this, Chronos shouted, “Ahriman! Let’s end this—go all out!”
With that, the giant god Chronos swung his hand down, reaching toward Noah in Eden!
…
…
“This power… it's the Father!” Raphael’s heart trembled—only for a red flash to cut across him. His silver armor was slashed by a burning sword mark.
The demon-eyed man in red who wielded the sword was proving to be even trickier than Raphael expected.
“Looks like our time’s running out… Raphael, don’t get distracted now.” Lord Longyang chuckled lightly. With a flourish of his sword, crimson lotus flames bloomed once again!
Raphael frowned, glancing toward the mysterious giant automaton still blocking the horde of Void Abyss Demons. It had… stopped moving.
…
Indeed, it had halted. Staring into the rift from which the endless Void Abyss Demons poured, its gaze swept across the distortions.
【Temporal-spatial interference frequency analysis complete… Recommending temporal correction before executing alien extermination… Decision confirmed… Beginning correction.】
The armor on its chest slowly opened—revealing a shining, radiant orb.
…
“This is…”
The tremors from the Third Heaven had reached even the shattered First Heaven. Following in Dong Zhuo’s footsteps, Oda arrived at a strange structure.
A seven-story tower.
“Heh… So the intel was correct. This thing really was hidden in the First Heaven,” Dong Zhuo muttered, studying the tower—then suddenly slammed his massive body into it!
With ease, his hulking frame smashed through the outer wall—unimpeded.
He and Oda entered the tower effortlessly. It was mostly empty—save for a raised platform.
Atop the platform, something shimmered faintly with a mysterious glow.
“The Revelation... then I won’t be polite.” Dong Zhuo narrowed his eyes and leapt toward the object, reaching for it—
Just then, an aged voice slowly rang out.
“The eighth commandment… God said, ‘Thou shalt not steal.’”
