Chapter 1849: Destined Bond
Chapter 1849: Destined Bond
The scene made everyone present exchange smiles.
"It seems these two children are destined to be connected." Mr. Thompson stroked his beard and laughed.
"Truly fortunate." Jasmine Clarkson nodded in agreement.
"Mommy! Can I have another little sister now?"
Grace Thompson quickly ran over to Charlotte Thompson’s side, cautiously extending her palm.
"What if it’s a little brother?" Hank Thompson came over at this moment.
"Then... a little brother isn’t too bad either..." Grace mumbled.
"It looks like my son really likes the baby in your belly. If it’s truly a little girl, how about we arrange a childhood betrothal?" Annie Anne said as she walked over with Arthur Hudson.
"I refuse arranged marriage."
Charlotte Thompson said as she turned her head, and saw Justin Battleson pursing his lips, a blank expression on his face.
Noticing this, Charlotte’s joy faded quite a bit.
Today was Arthur Hudson’s first birthday celebration, and now with the news of Charlotte’s pregnancy, it was indeed a double blessing, a scene of bustling joy.
...
That night.
"Get some rest, I have some documents to handle."
Justin kissed Charlotte’s forehead, tucked her in, and turned to leave. But Charlotte suddenly grabbed his wrist.
Then, Charlotte sat up from the bed.
"Justin." Charlotte lightly pressed her lips.
"What’s wrong?" Justin stopped in his tracks.
"Do you... have nothing you want to say to me?" Charlotte clearly felt that ever since Justin learned about her pregnancy, he seemed a bit unhappy.
Perhaps because of the pregnancy, Charlotte also started to overthink.
She and Justin already have three children, so with this pregnancy... is Justin not as joyful?
As Charlotte furrowed her brow, Justin cupped her cheeks.
"Are you overthinking again?"
Justin knew Charlotte best; with just a look, he could tell what was on her mind.
"I..." Charlotte bit her lip gently and, after hesitating for a moment, softly asked, "Do you want to keep this baby?"
"Why are you asking this?" Justin was taken aback.
"You don’t seem very excited about this baby..." Charlotte’s expression visibly fell, "Ever since you found out I was pregnant, you’ve been somewhat unhappy. I... um..."
But before Charlotte could finish, Justin kissed her lips directly.
Gentle like moonlight streaming through a window, ambiguous and sweet.
"What are you saying, how could I not like this baby?" Justin wrapped Charlotte in his arms.
"Then why are you unhappy?" Charlotte looked up.
Facing Charlotte’s question, Justin sighed, then kneeled on one knee in front of her.
"Because I’m worried about you."
"Me?"
"The arrival of this baby is indeed unexpected for me, but compared to the baby, I’m more concerned about you. The previous miscarriage had a significant impact on your body, and I’m not sure now..."
"So, you don’t dislike the baby?"
Justin brushed Charlotte’s nose lightly, his voice tinged with helplessness, "How could I dislike the baby?"
Upon hearing this, Charlotte snuggled into Justin’s embrace, "Then I want to give birth to the baby."
