Chapter 123: Living in the Woods
Chapter 123: Living in the Woods
"What if the sweat pants you are wearing cost a small apartment from their office?" Shadow asked and only then did I understand.
Yes, even if I want to dress the way I want, I can still achieve the effect I want by going for the pricey look.
"I understand."
As we were talking, a man wearing a well-pressed suit walked out of the inner office and headed straight towards us.
"Good day, Mister Casper." The well dressed man bowed to Shadow.
It was only now that I knew his first or was it last name?
"What’s so good about today, apart from meeting this interesting girl? Your office sure offers great services." Shadow said sarcastically.
"I am sorry Mister Casper for neglecting you." The man said, bowing again then he turned to me.
"Hello Miss." He also bowed to me.
I was shocked and didn’t come back to my senses for a long time.
This was the first time someone bowed to me with respect, and a hint of fear.
In the Night Claw Pack, even when I became the Luna, I was never accorded such respect.
Even people like Lilith, whom I could say respected me, weren’t this differential.
Today, I learned more about the world.
"Hello sir." I replied back.
No matter who he was or why he was respecting me so much, he had shown respect and I had to reciprocate in kind.
Before we could talk about the house, a few sales assistants who had been surrounding other clients ran over to us offering to help.
I immediately understood that they saw how the manager treated us and realized that we weren’t nobodies to be ignored.
However, I wouldn’t use any of them since they didn’t see the need to help since the beginning.
"Ask them to leave." Shadow ordered the well-pressed man who I had just realized was the manager in that office branch.
"Without another word, the manager waved at those sales assistants and ordered them to leave.
They had no choice but to do as they were told.
After getting a few houses introduced to us, I finally chose one that fit my needs perfectly.
It was about twenty kilometers from the outskirts of the city and a little remote with a thirty acre land surrounding it in natural forest.
This was basically tailor-made for a werewolf.
Even if something happened out there, no one would notice because the nearest neighbor was over twenty kilometers away.
Shadow seemed to know my needs very well.
I didn’t even need to go and view the house. I was satisfied and paid in full on the spot.
Within an hour, the house and land had been transferred to me and I was now the proud owner of my own home.
Moreover, because of Shadow, I managed to get the whole property for only three million dollars.
This meant that I still had a lot of money left.
After leaving the real estate office, Shadow and I parted ways and I entered a mall to shop for daily necessities.
The real estate manager said that the house was furnished and well-maintained and I just needed to move in.
However, I wanted to add a personal touch, so I went to buy a few things.
My shopping spree ended with me buying a cart full of clothes, another filled with shoes and bags, and other personal items.
I also went to the supermarket on my way out of the mall and bought groceries that could last me for at least a week.
I could cook better than most five-star chefs, so I wasn’t going to starve myself.
Luckily, the mall had a home delivery service so I gave them my new address and headed home first.
I needed to familiarize myself with the place before dark.
I took a taxi out to the house I had just bought and on the way there, the taxi driver thought I had been scammed.
It wasn’t until we saw the house hidden away by tall trees and flowers did he believe that I had really bought a house in the woods.
"Aren’t you afraid of living here by yourself, little girl?" The taxi driver asked casually.
I was new in the city and didn’t want to cause any trouble.
So, I lied to the taxi driver.
"I won’t be living alone. My brother is with me, he just went to buy other things we need. The rest of the family was waiting for us to buy a house and will also come to live with us in two days. So, this place will be filled with people in a couple of days. What’s there to be afraid of?" I said it so convincingly that the taxi driver wouldn’t have doubted me.
"Oh, that’s good. I thought you were here alone. It’s dangerous for a young girl like you to live in such a place alone. It’s good that you are with your family." He replied.
I wasn’t sure whether he was genuinely worried about me or just sounding me out, but I knew to bluff my way out of trouble at least.
Once the taxi driver left, I walked towards the house with joy and pride.
The house was quite large. No wonder it had managed to convince the taxi driver that this was a family home.
It had three floors and was built with volcano stones.
They were one of the toughest stones available.
Near the house was a garage that could be used to pack up to ten cars and there was also a barn.
I wondered what the previous owner had in mind when building this place.
There wasn’t a fence erected. The house used the natural treeline as a boundary making one feel as if they are living in the forest.
This was one of the reasons I liked the place.
I decided to set up a security system around the house and even in the forest to prevent any accidents.
But that would have to wait until I had settled in.
