Three Alphas, Fated To One, Played By One, But Mated To One

Chapter 122: Buying Property

Chapter 122: Buying Property

"Once I settle in, we can go check out the locations." I didn’t have much to do anyway.

In the pack, I was held back by my position as Luna. Having so much to do for people who didn’t appreciate my efforts.

Now that I didn’t have to play some Luna, I had more time to do things that build myself.

"Alright then. Once you are ready, just let me know and I will pick you up." Shadow offered and I was happy to have someone I can count on as a friend in the new environment.

"I also want to buy a car to get around. But I need to go to driving school first. Any suggestions?" I asked as we approached the real estate office.

"Are you of age yet? You do know that in our country you must be sixteen to get a driving license, right?"

I almost wanted to kick Shadow. Who was he looking down on?

"Hey, that’s personal. I am turning eighteen in less than two days. How could I not be qualified to get a license?" That seemed to shock him.

"Eighteen? I thought you were at most, fifteen years old. What, are you a dwarf or something? But you don’t have the makings of a dwarf. So, what’s the deal with your underdevelopment?" Shadow asked with an amused expression.

"Can you stop making fun of me? You try eating scraps that can’t fill you once every two days for years and see how well you develop." I blurted the truth out before I could stop myself.

But then I wasn’t very keen on hiding it anyway.

So, it wasn’t a problem if Shadow found out.

"Who was it that abused you so much. Tell me and I will get revenge for you." Suddenly, Shadow’s entire aura changed and before I could put a finger on what was different, it cooled down again.

But I could still tell he was fuming and very very very angry.

He wasn’t angry at me but at those who mistreated me.

I couldn’t believe that someone would genuinely care about me so much that they would get angry on my behalf.

"It’s all in the past. I don’t plan to pursue it. Besides, I already got away. Unless they come to provoke me and try to disrupt the new life I want to build, I won’t seek revenge. I have more important things to do. Dealing with those people is only a waste of my time." It wasn’t that I had never thought of seeking revenge. But no matter how badly the people in the Night Claw Pack treated me, they also sheltered me.

If I had been kicked out after my father’s execution and my mother’s death, I wouldn’t have survived as a rogue for long.

So, I was still grateful that the pack raised me, even as a slave.

"Alright then, but if anyone dares to cross you, just let me know and I will make sure that they don’t have enough money for noodles the next day." Shadow said and I didn’t doubt his claim.

He was a top hacker in the dark web and after talking to him today, I realized that what he had taught me was just the tip of the iceberg. Yet, I was already in the mid-range level on the dark web platform.

After discussing technology and networking today, my thought process had also opened up and I was sure that in the next few days, I would be able to apply what I have learnt to jump to become one of the best in the industry.

Being able to train someone like me with only shallow knowledge, it could be seen just how formidable my mentor is.

"I will send you a few more notes I have compiled over the years. Go through them and see if you can deduce something from them. If you are able to understand them and put them to use, you might even surpass me in hacking." Shadow said.

I couldn’t imagine being better than him, but since he was willing to help, I was also willing to take on the challenge.

"Alright, I promise to put them to good use."

As we spoke, we arrived at the entrance of the real estate office.

The office was quite busy, however some clients were getting help from more than two assistants.

However, I noticed that when we walked in, no one bothered to come and greet us or serve us.

I wondered whether the things I had seen on short dramas really happened in real life.

People really judged others by their appearance and refused to serve them just because they assumed they weren’t potential clients.

Shadow didn’t seem to care. As if being ignored was the most normal thing in the world.

"Why aren’t you angry when they ignored us like that?" I asked him after taking a seat at the reception.

At least we weren’t outright kicked out like in those short dramas where sales assistants humiliate and kick out customers just because they thought they didn’t look wealthy enough.

"Are you angry?" Shadow asked me instead.

"No. I am used to this kind of treatment. Or even worse. So, this is nothing to me. But I don’t exactly enjoy it." I added.

"Then just become strong enough that no one will dare to look down on you or treat you the way you don’t like."

"But I also want to have the freedom to be myself even when I am buried in money and power. I like wearing sweat pants and casual tops because they feel comfortable and free. However, if I dress like that, I would still be treated the way these people here are treating us. So, what’s the use?"

I do want money and power, but if it leads to me losing my freedom which I had even left my mate for, then it wouldn’t be worth it.
