Chapter 721: No Matter How Childish, I Can Still Make You Cry
After breakfast, the family of four headed to the zoo. It was the season of blooming grass and singing orioles, a time full of vitality. Benjamin and Nicholas, carrying little backpacks and waving tiny flags, hopped along excitedly towards the tiger enclosure.
Since it was the weekend, there were quite a few children at the zoo. At first, Benjamin only stuck close to Nicholas while looking at the animals. But after half the day had passed, she found herself surrounded by a group of chattering kids.
"Benjamin, which kindergarten do you go to? I want to go to your kindergarten."
"Benjamin, your dress is so pretty."
"Benjamin, your daddy is glaring at us."
"Benjamin, why aren’t you talking to me?"
In the end, Benjamin grew impatient with the noise, but she still had to maintain the graceful smile of a princess. She had no choice but to tug at Nicholas’s pants as he walked ahead.
Nicholas was busy looking around for peacocks hidden in the bushes and didn’t even notice that Benjamin was already pouting.
Finally, Ignatius couldn’t take it anymore. He scooped up the two little troublemakers, held Benjamin in his arms, and coldly glared at the gaggle of kids around them. Instantly, the group of little ones pulled silly faces and scattered like birds and beasts.
"From now on, don’t bother with these noisy little brats," the man said, squinting as he pinched Benjamin’s small cheek.
Benjamin sat in her daddy’s arms, swinging her little feet, and replied sweetly, "They’re not fun at all. Casimir is the most fun."
Casimir? Ignatius didn’t respond.
Delphine chuckled as she watched the children run off to complain to their parents. Stepping forward, she whispered, "Why are you so fierce to the kids? Aren’t you worried the parents will come over and scold you? So childish."
For the first time, the handsome man was called childish. His deep gaze fell on her pure, fair face, and his Adam’s apple moved slightly. Leaning in close to her ear, he murmured hoarsely, "No matter how childish, I’ll still make you cry tonight."
Delphine was left speechless, her ears turning crimson red. She shot him an angry glare, then grabbed Nicholas’s hand and walked ahead to look at the peacocks.
The man let out a low chuckle, his gaze softening as he held Benjamin and continued to lecture her: "Benjamin, look at your brother Nicholas. He never pays attention to those little brats. You should learn from him."
Benjamin pouted unhappily and nodded reluctantly. Nicholas didn’t just ignore the other kids; he didn’t even notice when she was about to pull his pants off—he was entirely focused on the peacocks!
After seeing the peacocks and tigers, the handsome and dignified man found himself surrounded by more and more parents and children. The little kids were eyeing the precious one in his arms, while the parents were staring at his companion. His face darkened further. Were they here to look at animals or people?
And so, the zoo visit ended abruptly. With a dour expression, the man took the woman and children to eat.
Back at the villa, Nicholas and Benjamin, exhausted from a day of play, lay in Delphine’s arms, their mouths slightly open as they fell asleep.
After stepping out of the car, the man reached out and gently prodded the two tiny sleeping figures, waking them up with a low laugh: "We’re home now. Take a bath before sleeping."
Delphine took Nicholas and Benjamin to bathe, while the man went into the tea room in the living room. Maximilian had been waiting for quite some time and stepped forward as Ignatius finally arrived, speaking quietly: "Mr. Leclair, Stone Leclair has been transferred back to the South Sea."
Ignatius’s phoenix-like eyes narrowed sharply, an icy glint emanating from them. Just three years—and he was transferred back already. That worked out well; since everyone would be gathering in the South Sea anyway, it saved him the trouble of traveling back and forth.
"Is Old Casimir in the South Sea yet?"
"Major General Shaw is currently at Squire Manor. He said he’d stop by tonight."
