Chapter 677: I Am Already Married with Children
Delphine stared at the text message, pondering for a long time before driving to Cloud Summit.
The people at Cloud Summit seemed to recognize her, treating her with great respect.
"I booked the suite 8816," Delphine said with a faint smile.
The manager checked and, with a bead of sweat appearing on his forehead, gently replied, "Miss Gu, the reservation for 8816 is not under your name."
Delphine seemed thoughtful and continued smiling, "My friend booked it, possibly under her name—Melody Cloud. Has she arrived?"
"Miss Cloud has not arrived yet. Would you like to go up first or wait for her here?" The manager nodded and smiled.
"I’ll go upstairs and wait for her," Delphine said indifferently, the smile at the corner of her lips cooling slightly. So, the text message was sent by Melody? Delphine had an inkling of what was about to transpire—something dramatic, perhaps involving passion or infidelity?
The manager dutifully led Delphine to the eighth floor. She entered the suite, walked straight into the bedroom, and opened the recording function on her phone.
It wasn’t long before she heard the sound of the door unlocking.
"Leclair brother, I just had a little bit of cocktail at the party and now I feel dizzy," Melody Cloud said as she opened the door, her body weakening and collapsing into Ignatius Leclair’s arms, her voice syrupy sweet.
Ignatius’s gaze darkened slightly. He helped her steady herself and spoke in a low tone, "Then lie down and rest. We’ll talk when you’re feeling better."
Melody Cloud grew anxious at his response. She grabbed his arm and said coquettishly, "It feels like I’m a little better already."
As Ignatius looked down at the hand holding onto his sleeve, for some reason he suddenly thought of Delphine. Delphine had always been distant in temperament; the unresolved issues between them remained, and her most affectionate gesture over the years had been tugging at his cufflinks—like a cold, aloof cat softly asking for attention.
Every time she pulled on his cufflinks, there was a sense of tenderness he couldn’t refuse. The exact same motion, performed by Melody, his cousin, with whom he shared blood ties, felt utterly different. Why was the disparity so stark?
Ignatius’s gaze turned dark as he restrained the impulse to throw her away.
"My illness is something very few people know about. How did you think to go ask the Fourth about my condition?" Ignatius asked leisurely, subtly pulling his sleeve back as he walked to the mini bar. He casually grabbed a bottle of wine and picked up two glasses.
With an elegant motion, Ignatius opened the wine and poured two glasses of red wine.
Melody’s gaze darted around. She smiled tenderly, "I figured it out myself. You weren’t like this with me before. You treated me exceptionally well."
Saying this, she started inching toward Ignatius, a hint of grievance in her demeanor.
Ignatius curled his lips into a semblance of a smile. His usually stern features took on a mocking edge, his strikingly handsome face seeming even more captivating. He handed her the wine, his tone heavy, "Melody, I’m married now. I have a child."
Drawn in by his cool pine fragrance, Melody’s cheeks flushed. She downed half a glass of wine to muster her courage, her gaze shifting to one of seductive allure as she looked at Ignatius and said, "I don’t care, Leclair brother. As long as I can stay by your side, I don’t care about anything else."
Ignatius let out a cold laugh. In his deep eyes, a flicker of icy light appeared as he said in a low tone, "Care enough to collude with my enemies? Investigate me? Was it Reginald Yeager, Griffith Squire, or someone else altogether?"
"No," Melody’s heart raced as she hurriedly replied, "What are you talking about? I don’t understand."
