Chapter 657: Then Prove it to Me
Chapter 657: Then Prove it to Me
The top floor of the Leclair Residence is a renovated large suite, with a sliding door connecting the bedroom to the study.
Ignatius walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the winter scenery in the garden below, and said lightly, "The old man went out to visit friends today. Since Nicholas has been brought back, wait until he sees him before you leave. These three years, though he hasn’t said it aloud, he’s always been thinking about Nicholas."
Delphine frowned slightly and said, "Since Benjamin isn’t adjusting well here, I’ll take her back to the Imperial City."
Ignatius remained silent, a faint glimmer of amusement flashing in his eyes. He turned to look at Delphine Carter, his voice low and husky, "You won’t even see Isaac before leaving? After all, this is the place where you spent your youth." It was also the place where their love was sealed.
Ignatius never used to like the Leclair Residence—a place steeped in power was bound to be cold. Yet, the rare moments of tenderness in his memory had all taken place here. The man now had an indescribable attachment to this red-brick house.
Delphine froze slightly when he mentioned Isaac. That child truly evoked pity.
"Has he been doing well these past few years?"
"You can ask him yourself." The man squinted at her delicate little face, with dark, glimmering eyes, cherry-red lips, and skin so pale it was nearly translucent. Despite giving birth to Nicholas and Benjamin, she still resembled the eighteen-year-old version of herself, unmarked by the passage of time.
The man looked down at the food emitting an irresistible fruity aroma, and a restless hunger surged through his blood.
Unruffled, he approached her and coaxed her in a deep voice: "Delphine Carter, if you’re so concerned about Benjamin, why not reconsider getting back together with me?"
Ignatius analyzed her sentiments from the past years, guessing that perhaps she truly detested touching emotions. She wanted to rely on the Squire siblings and raise her children with them. At this rate, Griffith would undoubtedly take the chance to win her over. With that man’s presence, Wilbur was already out of the picture, which proved everything.
Delphine was silent for several seconds before shaking her head.
Ignatius’s gaze darkened, and his tall, imposing figure pushed closer to her, cornering her into a little nook of the study. Looming over her, he pressed sharply, "Still love me? That’s why you’ve been too scared to approach me, too timid to reconcile with me? Such cowardice? When you hated me in the past, didn’t you still crawl into my bed?"
Delphine realized too late that his quiet approach had unwittingly forced her into a corner of the wall. Each word from Ignatius drained the color from her face, pale as a ghost, as she replied coldly, "You’re spouting nonsense."
The man chuckled faintly, his long, elegant fingers gripping her sharp chin. His handsome face lowered as he murmured seductively, "Then prove it to me. Prove that you have no feelings for me, no thoughts about me whatsoever."
Before his words fully settled, the man had already abandoned all restraint.
Delphine struggled, overwhelmed by the intensity of the emotions pressing down on her. By the time she regained her senses, her entire body was trembling. Their breathing grew ragged, chaotic, entangled together.
