Chapter 1082: As If Nothing Happened, the Man Gets Into Bed and Holds Her
Richard Shaw’s tall body tensed slightly, his tea-colored, unfathomable eyes cast over. He saw her come down wearing a loose sweater, her features cold and exquisite, tinged with a hint of pallor, looking much leaner than before the new year, and his mood inexplicably sank into melancholy.
"Grandma, did you go out this afternoon?" Crystal Landon walked over and asked the old lady softly, not sparing a glance at the handsome and stern man.
"I went for a walk in the nearby park this afternoon, accompanied by the daughter-in-law from the second son’s family, wandered for about two hours." The old lady held her hand and smiled, "Your little face has gotten so thin, from now on no more being picky with food. You must drink the soup Madam Zhao makes three times a day."
Crystal Landon couldn’t help but smile and nodded at the old lady’s serious demeanor.
The three of them sat at the dining table for dinner. The old lady noticed that these two had no interaction at all: one was wooden, the other indifferent, and she couldn’t help but worry. Why have they been at odds since the start of the new year?
The old lady thought about it and was certain it must be her grandson’s fault, so after dinner, she called Richard Shaw aside for a scolding.
Crystal Landon went to bed early. Lately, she didn’t know why, but she was very sleepy, and seemingly couldn’t muster the energy for anything.
She nestled under the covers, playing with her phone, when Nova Howard’s voice message came through.
"Damn, Crystal, I finally remember who that woman is; she’s Luna Lawrence from the Chinese department. I kept thinking she looked familiar!"
Crystal Landon rolled her eyes and sent a voice message back: "Nova Howard, why is your reaction time so slow?"
"I just remembered. I told you that woman had ulterior motives. Earlier, she was trying to ride your coattails. Damn, that off-road vehicle wasn’t owned by Major General Shaw, was it?" Nova Howard suddenly recalled the off-road vehicle Luna had posted before.
Crystal Landon was also taken aback, perhaps. After all, Luna Lawrence’s family was quite poor, and that vehicle wasn’t cheap, even if it was a Military District car, nine out of ten times, it was Richard Shaw who drove it there.
"Crystal, are you okay?"
She lay in the covers, her small face rubbing against the pillow, and lazily said, "Came back and had a big fight with Richard Shaw, almost divorced."
"Wouldn’t that just benefit that manipulative woman?" Nova Howard said indignantly, "If I were you, I wouldn’t divorce, I’d give that woman hell."
Crystal Landon chuckled huskily and said, "Silly girl, if a man’s heart is not with you, stubbornly persisting would only harm yourself."
She didn’t understand before; she thought he was just naturally cold. If she had known he had a first love, she wouldn’t have agreed to marry him.
After hearing that, Nova Howard stayed silent for a moment, then said angrily, "But you’re so great; you’ve got the looks, the figure, and you’re smart and righteous. Calliope and Lana Shaw both especially admire you. Is Major General Shaw dumb from being in the military? Would’ve been better if you married my fourth brother."
Hawk Howard, huh? Crystal Landon propped her little head, thought for a moment, and nodded, saying, "Hawk’s pretty good, high IQ, good looks, and he’s a gentleman, never forces women."
The man came in just as she was lying in bed talking. Upon hearing her words, his gaze deepened, and perhaps realizing he was there, the sound inside the covers suddenly stopped.
Richard Shaw went into the bathroom, took a shower, and came out wearing a bathrobe, feeling a bit agitated. He wanted to smoke, but remembered his previous promise to quit and forced himself to resist.
He got into bed, as if nothing had happened before, pulling her into his arms. Crystal Landon was playing with her phone, and the moment he hugged her, she instantly got angry.
