Chapter 1081: During This Time, He Will Not Accept Any Proposals for Divorce

Luna Lawrence waited in the hospital until dark and still didn’t see Richard Shaw; instead, she waited for Shuangzi.

Shuangzi brought over some fruit and dinner, placed them on the small table in front of the hospital bed, and said, "Luna, stop waiting. The Major General won’t be coming anymore."

Luna’s expression froze on her face, and she said coldly, "What nonsense are you talking about? The Major General wouldn’t leave me alone."

He visited her every day. Upon learning that Crystal Landon came to trouble her, he was in the hospital at the first instance. How could he possibly not come anymore? Luna tightened the bedsheet beneath her with her fingers. She was the one who was hit, it was Crystal who bullied her. Why wouldn’t he visit her, the victim?

Seeing her haughty and unwilling, Shuangzi sighed and said, "His wife is angry, so naturally, the Major General wouldn’t come anymore. Though he has taken great care of you over the years, things are different now that he’s married. For the sake of the care he’s shown you for many years, can’t you just stop causing trouble?"

"I’m not causing trouble; I was genuinely burned." Luna said, her face cold and expressionless.

Shuangzi saw that she wouldn’t listen no matter how much he persuaded, so he sighed and left.

Luna looked at the empty, cold hospital room and threw the dinner onto the floor. Her brother lost his life for him, and she stayed by his side for four years, caring for him. He clearly liked her too. Why, just because that woman made a fuss, did he stop caring about her?

A trace of jealousy flashed in Luna’s eyes. From the moment she arrived in the Imperial City, she had no way out. What she couldn’t have, Crystal shouldn’t even think about having either.

At dinner time, Sister Zhao came up to wake Crystal Landon, worriedly saying, "Is Madam not feeling well? Do you still want to have dinner? Should I get a doctor to take a look?"

In the afternoon, the Major General brought Madam back with a gloomy face. Since Madam had been silent all afternoon, Sister Zhao was only brave enough to check-in at dinner time.

Crystal had slept for two hours and was feeling somewhat better. She asked in a hoarse voice, "Where’s Grandma?"

"The old lady just came back and was asking about Madam earlier."

Crystal nodded and said, "I’ll be down right away."

She got up and changed her clothes. Although she had already washed, she still felt sore.

Crystal sat dazedly on the bed before she remembered to go downstairs to eat. The old lady was talking with Richard Shaw.

Since Richard Shaw was transferred back to the Imperial City, he left early and returned late. The old lady hardly caught sight of him today, and couldn’t help but lament, "Busy all day and out of sight, I don’t mind, but Crystal is still young. You should take her out more and cultivate your relationship. When will there be children at this rate?"

Richard lowered his eyes, his dark brown pupils slightly dim. He didn’t want to tell Grandma about the issues between them. As for children, he’d already decided against having them anytime soon and planned on taking precautions in the future.

Deep down, Richard was conservative. He had always hoped they would treat each other with respect and not interfere in each other’s affairs. But, having been intimate, he couldn’t accept her childlike view of marriage as if it were a game, talking about divorce as if it were nothing, and all over some imaginary issues.

In Richard’s mind, divorce was something you considered when all else failed. Clearly, they were compatible in the bedroom, and she seemed quite happy at the Shaw Family. Perhaps the marriage’s trial period wasn’t over yet, and during this time, he wouldn’t entertain the thought of divorce.

"Just transferred back, there’s a lot to get acquainted with. I probably won’t have the time for the next six months." Richard said in a low voice.

Grandma huffed disapprovingly. Then she looked up and saw Crystal, smiled, and said, "Crystal, come eat. I noticed you’ve lost quite a bit of weight recently; you need to eat well and replenish yourself."
