After leaving the Sichuan restaurant, it started snowing heavily outside. Crystal Landon opened a black umbrella, waved at Clark Landon in the snow, and then stepped away through the thick snow.
Clark Landon collected those IOUs; finally, the Landon Family’s matters were settled.
Crystal Landon was in an excellent mood as she returned to Shaw Mansion. She hadn’t even entered the main house when she heard the old lady’s laughter.
"Grandma, what’s making you so happy?" She asked, her hat, mask, and eyelashes covered in snow, as she hurriedly bent down to take off her shoes, hat, and coat, feeling the warmth indoors, she looked up.
Only then did she see the man sitting by the fireplace, speaking in a deep voice with the old lady. When he saw her return, he stood up; his tall and robust figure was quite striking, his face colder and more handsome than before, his gaze deep as he looked over.
Crystal Landon’s heart skipped a beat. She threw her coat, scarf, and hat aside. Since the old lady was there, she didn’t rush over, but her beautiful peach blossom eyes were full of smiles. Walking over, she asked brightly, "Weren’t you supposed to come back tomorrow?"
The man noticed the unmelted snow on her eyebrows and eyelashes, looking at her bright and smiling face. He responded in a deep voice and reached out to brush away the snowflakes from her eyelashes with his fingertips.
"You two go chat, after half a month apart, you’re back and can’t see me, the old woman, anymore. I’ll go to sleep now," the old lady said, looking at the two of them, half teasing, half content.
Seeing the old lady leave and the living room empty, Crystal Landon joyfully reached out to grasp his hand and softly asked, "Did you come back early because you missed me?"
"Because of work," the man said in a low voice, yet didn’t let go of her hand.
"I don’t care, I’ll just assume you came back for me," Crystal Landon pouted playfully, her small hand pinching his larger one, finger by finger.
Richard Shaw reached out to hold her hand, slightly furrowing his brow as he said, "Didn’t you have no classes in the afternoon? Why did you come back so late?"
"It’s not late, I had dinner with Clark Landon and then returned."
"Clark Landon, your former brother?" Richard Shaw tightened his grip on her small hand, gathered up the clothes and hat she had casually tossed aside, led her upstairs, and asked about the Landon Family’s situation, "Are you close with Clark Landon?"
"He’s very good to me," Crystal Landon answered casually, not noticing the man’s somber expression.
Richard Shaw didn’t say much more, entering the bedroom, hung up her clothes, and went to the balcony with a cigarette.
Crystal Landon paused slightly, watching his silent and lonely figure smoking on the balcony. Without looking, she knew his eyes must surely carry their usual coldness and indifference, as if no one could enter his heart.
She used to smoke when she felt lonely, knowing the man did even more so.
It’s just that she no longer feels lonely and has quit smoking. Has Richard Shaw remained just as lonely?
Crystal Landon’s mood sank slightly. She went straight to the bathroom to shower and sleep. She slept restlessly, not knowing when the man finally got into bed, feeling cold as he moved closer to kiss her cheek.
She shivered at the chill, waking up, irritably pushing him away, coldly saying, "Go away."
Richard Shaw saw her pull back with a cold face into the blanket and didn’t touch her again, waiting for her body to warm up a bit before pulling her into his arms, silently kissing her.
The man’s kiss was somewhat rough, completely different from before. Crystal Landon couldn’t match his strength, pressed and kissed as her body turned limp, eventually unable to push him away, half resisting, half yielding to his advances.
