Chapter 1060: Settling the Years of Our Sibling Bonds
Chapter 1060: Settling the Years of Our Sibling Bonds
Crystal Landon always had some sibling affection for Clark Landon, which is why, despite the excessive actions of the Landon Family, she never went to extreme lengths.
When Crystal arrived, Clark was already there. The man was wearing a dark sweater and dress pants. After a year of not seeing each other, the young, elegant gentleman had gained a bit of polish and worldly wisdom from society. Seeing her, he immediately smiled and said, "The roads are slippery in the snow; I thought you might be a bit late."
"I didn’t have classes this afternoon, so I came a bit early." Crystal took off her down jacket, revealing the soft beige knit dress underneath. Her jet-black straight hair was casually tied up, revealing a face as bright as Luna, which made Clark slightly dazed.
"I remember you always come for hot pot when it snows." Clark laughed, "You go ahead and order."
"That’s right, having something spicy on a snowy day is great." She smiled, looking down to order a hot pot set.
"How have you been at the Shaw Family this year? I heard that Richard Shaw is going to be transferred back to the Imperial City this year?" Clark asked lightly.
"Pretty good, Grandma treats me like her own family." Crystal came this time to discuss the Landon Family’s matters with him and spoke directly, "At the Howard Family’s wedding last time, Pearl Landon crashed it without an invitation, trying to find Richard Shaw to help the Landon Family again."
Clark’s face turned pale, his voice slightly sinking, "I didn’t know about this."
Crystal nodded, knowing Clark’s pride, he definitely wouldn’t want to ask for handouts, especially since they both knew the Shaw Family had no reason to help the Landon Family.
"Given the current situation of the Landon Family, what needs to be cut off should be cut off. You should know this in your heart. Your parents have offended both the Shaw Family and the Howard Family, and there’s no chance for a comeback in Imperial City. Pearl also hasn’t accepted the current state of the Landon Family. Instead of dragging them down further, you should let them go." Crystal said coldly.
Clark froze upon hearing this, somewhat unable to believe these words came from Crystal. In his impression, Crystal had always been a rebellious little girl.
He had also thought about sending them away. His father was bad at managing things and often offended people. Since his mother found out about his father’s affair, she cried and made a scene at home every day, to the point his father wouldn’t come home. Pearl was lost in the dream of being the celebrated socialite in Imperial City.
He had been holding the family together alone, exhausted, yet still holding onto the hope that one day, his family would see his struggles and join forces to pull through the tough times.
But now, Crystal saw things more clearly than he did.
Clark was silent for a moment, then nodded and said, "I will consider it."
Crystal nodded, taking out the IOUs and promissory notes from her backpack that had been accumulated over the years, pushing them to him, and said, "These are over four hundred million in IOUs and documents borrowed from the Shaw Family by your parents over the past fifteen years. You take them back; let’s consider this as the end of our sibling ties over the years."
She had discussed with the old lady earlier that the Shaw Family had no intention of reclaiming the money they sent out.
If the Landon Family hadn’t gone too far, the old lady would not have mentioned these IOUs. At that time, the old lady had given all of them to her, leaving her to handle them as she saw fit.
Clark’s body suddenly stiffened. The Landon Family’s biggest difficulty was this debt of over three hundred million, and now Crystal was unconditionally giving them to him, which meant she was giving him over three hundred million at once. But he also clearly understood that if he accepted these IOUs, he would have to send his parents and Pearl out of the Imperial City.
