Chapter 119: The Little Girl Gets Shy
Chapter 119: The Little Girl Gets Shy
Leo Grant came home from work, as usual, bringing Holly Sawyer some mysterious snacks, making Holly wonder if Leo had traversed the entire Bexley.
Every day, the snacks Leo brought back were almost never the same.
"Brother, you got off work quite late today."
Holly watched the wall clock, tilting her head to look at Leo, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Perhaps because Holly was there, Leo was always punctual in leaving work, typically arriving home around five o’clock, give or take ten minutes, but today he was half an hour late.
"I brought you something to eat."
Leo placed the mysterious snack in Holly’s palm, speaking slowly.
Being good to Holly, he never hesitated.
The young girl loves food, so he could scour every corner of the city to find delicious treats for Holly.
What he wanted most now was to let Holly taste all the world’s delicacies, to let the young girl savor culinary delights everywhere.
To love someone probably means wanting to be good to her unreservedly.
"Mrs. Hayes will make it for Holly; now that it’s cold, brother, come home earlier."
Holly looked at the steaming food in her hand, feeling a warm tenderness inside.
The weather was cold, and she worried Leo might get chilled.
"Mm, okay."
Leo nodded.
The girl’s happiness mattered the most.
"What good things did Mrs. Hayes make for Holly today?"
Leo asked as he untied his tie, walking towards the living room.
He had already handled Holly’s withdrawal from school, so she wouldn’t need to go to school anymore.
After all, the young girl didn’t want to go to school in the first place.
"Candy roasted chestnuts, rock sugar hawthorn skewers, roasted sweet potatoes, milk tea."
Holly listed them for Leo, her eyes sparkling with delight.
Suddenly, she recalled Diana Curtis’s question: if you had to choose between delicious food and Leo, who would you pick?
Back then, she thought Diana was silly; now, she didn’t think so.
If Diana asked again, she would answer without hesitation, choosing Leo.
Leo would bring her lots of delicious food, so picking Leo is like having both.
Leo equals Leo plus delicious food.
"Little glutton."
Leo gently patted Holly’s head, his voice surprisingly tender.
The young girl had a special fondness for food; he wondered if in her heart, the food or he weighed heavier.
"Brother, do you want some milk tea?"
Holly reached out to grab the milk tea on the table, blinking as she looked at Leo.
The milk tea in Holly’s hand was already half gone, the straw marked by lipstick, clearly showing the young girl had just drunk from it.
"Ah, picked the wrong one."
A hint of embarrassment crossed Holly’s face, seeing two cups of milk tea on the table, both with straws—one she had drunk from, the other not.
She intended to pick the untouched cup but mistakenly grabbed the one she had sipped.
"It’s okay."
Leo held Holly’s hand that was holding the milk tea, a faint smile playing at his lips.
"Ah?"
Holly was a bit stunned.
Leo, holding Holly’s hand, took a sip of the milk tea; it had gotten cold, but when Leo drank it, it felt warm.
Very warm and sweet; perhaps the sweetness didn’t come from the milk tea but from Holly.
"Very sweet."
Leo released Holly’s hand, speaking slowly, his tone doting.
Truly sweet, sweet to the heart.
"I drank from that..."
Holly’s voice was small.
Leo drank from the same milk tea she had; would this be considered an indirect kiss?
"I know, Holly is sweeter than the milk tea."
Leo gently patted Holly’s head once more, his voice indulgent and gentle.
The young girl is the sweetest, without comparison.
Holly’s cheeks instantly flushed; times have changed. Before, she could pretend to be an innocent little girl, but now she couldn’t.
It felt quite awkward.
"What’s the color of the lipstick Holly wears?"
Leo suddenly asked, staring at Holly’s lips.
Unconsciously swallowing, the young girl’s lips were particularly tempting, with a magical allure.
Holly didn’t respond immediately, staring dumbly at Leo.
"Can I taste the flavor of your lipstick?"
Leo asked, his gaze on Holly heated yet gentle.
The movement of her lips fascinated Leo greatly; he really wanted to taste what flavor they held.
He respected Holly’s wishes; if she refused, he’d ask again next time.
They hadn’t been dating for long, so Holly might not agree to his request, so Leo didn’t hold much hope.
"Brother, I..."
Holly lowered her head, her ears reddening.
She felt it was too early, but didn’t know how to refuse. The words of refusal stayed at the edge of her lips, turning away only to swallow into silence.
"It’s okay, brother won’t force you."
Leo shook his head, noticing the hesitation in Holly’s eyes.
Holly lightly bit her lip, raising her head to look at Leo, "Brother, could you bend down a little?"
"Hm?"
Leo, confused, bent over to meet Holly’s eyes.
"Did you taste it?"
Holly contemplated for a while, swiftly pecking Leo’s lips before pulling away quickly.
She backed up slightly, creating some distance from Leo, her cheeks red, ears flush.
Gosh, feeling quite shy.
Holly looked at Leo for a few seconds, then turned and quickly ran upstairs.
She felt the heat on her face.
Leo reacted belatedly, touching his lips, still warm from Holly’s presence.
The young girl’s lips felt soft, even softer than he imagined, carrying a hint of fragrance—probably the taste of lipstick.
"The little glutton is rather shy."
Leo laughed to himself, watching Holly’s figure as she ran upstairs, his smile growing more indulgent.
The young girl could be shy, but her bashful appearance was truly adorable.
After Holly rushed to her room, she quickly locked the door, leaning against it, her heart thumping wildly.
Despite being seasoned by society, familiar with workplace affairs and worldly matters, even seeing love clearly.
But she had never fallen in love before, still a naive young girl, and in the face of love, she remained charmingly shy and innocently bewildered like a little girl should.
She was easily moved by Leo’s kindness, easily shy from intimate gestures.
Facing the mirror, she saw her cheeks flushed like a ripe apple, patting her face.
She didn’t know she had such a shy side, truly ruining her image.
"Dinner’s ready; aren’t you coming out to eat?"
The door was knocked by Leo, his voice passing through the crack, tinged with bits of laughter.
