The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot

Chapter 118: Meeting Him at Just the Right Time

Chapter 118: Meeting Him at Just the Right Time

"It’s best to be friends."

Holly said slowly, her voice soft and gentle.

"Isn’t Young Master Grant at home?"

Tess looked around and asked slowly, a bit curious, also kind of changing the subject.

Leo’s worth was high, and she was quite curious about what Leo usually did.

Holly replied, "He went to work."

Leo worked hard every day. What others thought was easy, actually wasn’t. Leo was more tired than others because he was the company’s leader.

"I thought CEOs just drank tea at home every day, waiting for company dividends."

Tess rested her chin in her hands as she looked at Holly, speaking earnestly.

She knew nothing about business or the workplace, and always thought being a company’s CEO was the easiest job.

"Leo is the backbone of the company. He can be more relaxed than others, but also can be busier than others."

Holly spoke truthfully, picking up her cup to take a sip of water, her tone faint.

Yes, Leo had privileges. He could do whatever he wanted, leaving work whenever he felt like it. No one could restrict his freedom.

However, he had to manage everything in the company. The final decisions were in his hands. The pile of files in the company was also under his charge.

Mrs. Hayes finished preparing the food Holly wanted and brought out a large plate from the kitchen. The plating looked very appealing and was incredibly tempting.

"Holly’s friend is here, I see."

Mrs. Hayes smiled at Tess, her face full of warmth, her eyes exceptionally friendly.

Even though she didn’t know Tess, she thought whoever came to find Holly must have a good relationship with Tess.

Mrs. Hayes was happy that Holly could make friends.

"Hello, Mrs. Hayes."

Tess greeted Mrs. Hayes politely, also showing a smile on her face.

Mrs. Hayes looked particularly kind, and Tess liked her at first sight, as she reminded her of her late mother.

Mrs. Hayes laughed and set the things down before going about her work.

She didn’t want to interrupt Holly chatting with her friend. The conversations of young people were something a middle-aged person couldn’t join in on, and staying here would make them uncomfortable.

"Boss, it seems you’re living quite well."

Tess looked at the items on the table and said slowly.

Mrs. Hayes treated Holly very well, making whatever Holly wanted to eat.

Baked sweet potatoes, sugar-roasted chestnuts, candied haw, milk tea.

Very ordinary things, yet Tess knew Holly liked them very much.

"Leo treats me well, and so does Mrs. Hayes. If nothing unexpected happens, Leo will be the person I spend my life with."

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Holly’s lips, her face sweet, her voice gentle.

You never know whether tomorrow or an accident will come first, but Holly had a hunch they would grow old together, although she didn’t dare be overly certain.

She had decided on Leo, hoping it’s him now, still him in the future, him always.

"That’s great, I wish you both the best."

Tess sipped her milk, her gaze at Holly filled with envy.

For Holly’s first romance, she met someone as good as Leo, which was truly something enviable.

Holly and Leo’s relationship was sweet and enviable, perhaps becoming a couple of celestial lovers.

But for her, it’s different. Even if she hasn’t encountered love now, she firmly believes she will in the future.

"Actually, before I met Leo, I never thought I would one day fall in love."

Holly’s eyes shifted to the window, she slowly spoke as she looked outside, her tone soft and gentle.

Every day, many people are encountered in this world. She never expected to meet Leo, nor to fall for him.

Perhaps this is all the best arrangement of fate.

"Boss, I want to ask you a question."

Tess suddenly leaned closer to Holly, asking mischievously.

Holly was puzzled, "Hmm?"

"What does it feel like to kiss?"

Tess blinked, looking at Holly with a cheeky aunt-like smile, genuinely curious.

Holly: "..."

She didn’t want to answer that question.

"Boss, just tell me, I’m quite curious."

Tess stared straight at Holly, earnestly asking, her heart filled with intense curiosity.

"Here, have a baked sweet potato."

Holly peeled off some of the baked sweet potato’s skin and handed it to Tess, speaking slowly.

She changed the subject, not wanting to continue on this topic.

How would she know what it feels like?

"Thank you, boss."

Tess took the baked sweet potato, biting into it, the sweet taste spreading in her mouth, sweet all the way to her heart.

"But boss, you haven’t answered my question yet."

Tess said while eating the baked sweet potato, watching Holly expectantly for an answer.

"When you’re not feeling happy, eating something sweet can be healing."

Holly pulled a few lollipops out of her pocket, placing them in front of Tess, ignoring her question.

Seeing the lollipops on the table, Tess couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth. Lollipops were Holly’s weapon of choice, though she knew those on the table were safe to eat.

Yet Tess couldn’t help but recall the image of Holly feeding lollipops to others, causing her to shiver involuntarily.

Thinking of the question she just asked, Tess couldn’t help but twitch her lips once more, deciding to drop it, as life was more important.

"I’ll just eat the candied haws."

Tess quickly picked up the candied haws from the table, waving her hand as she spoke.

Holly’s candy was definitely sweet, but Tess was too afraid to eat it, too scary.

"Afraid I’ll poison it?"

Holly looked at Tess helplessly, a faint smile on her lips.

Tsk, keep asking, do you wimp out now?

"No, no."

Tess shook her head repeatedly, she wouldn’t dare say yes, after all, Holly’s authority was undeniable.

Holly poisoning was impossible, this Tess clearly knew.

But Holly threatening her, that was real, causing her to shiver a bit, indeed it was quite frightening.

"Do as you please."

Holly ignored Tess, focusing on peeling her sugar-roasted chestnuts, though her gaze at Tess carried a hint of threat.

She simply enjoyed things like these, enjoying them as part of the process of consuming them.

Mrs. Hayes made plenty of milk tea for her, with just the right sweetness and a comfortable temperature, drinking it felt warmly satisfying.

Mrs. Hayes always unconditionally satisfied her appetite.

So she felt Mrs. Hayes was truly wonderful, treating her well and caring for her.
