The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot

Chapter 114: Not as Sweet as the Little Girl

Chapter 114: Not as Sweet as the Little Girl

Tess Young was about to run after Holly Sawyer when she unexpectedly saw Holly walk straight toward a man. The man even patted Holly’s head, and Holly didn’t resist at all; instead, she reached out and hugged the man’s waist.

Tess Young’s jaw nearly dropped. Wasn’t this situation just too shocking?

It truly was quite unbelievable.

There had been rumors that Holly Sawyer had a boyfriend, but she didn’t dare believe it until she saw it with her own eyes.

Now that she had seen it herself, Tess really felt like her jaw was about to hit the floor; it was just too, too, too shocking.

"Hey, hey, hey..."

Tess Young poked Diana Curtis, who was standing beside her. Her tone had a slight tremble, a tremble of excitement.

"How unsophisticated."

Diana Curtis rolled her eyes at Tess Young, crossed her arms, her tone slightly cool.

She was used to it by now, no longer surprised.

She still clearly remembers how surprised she was the first time she saw the interaction between Leo Grant and Holly Sawyer.

Tess Young: "..."

She really wanted Diana Curtis to buzz off.

Leo Grant stood by the car, leaning against the door, dressed in a suit, with a gentle smile on his lips as he watched the young girl run towards him.

"Brother."

Holly Sawyer’s voice was crisp, mingled with joy.

The moment she saw Leo Grant, she felt really good, and any unhappiness vanished like smoke.

Liking someone might be just being happy at the sight of them, with a smile naturally appearing on your face.

"Are you cold?"

Leo Grant grasped Holly Sawyer’s hand, which was very cold.

The deep autumn wind had picked up, becoming quite chilly, and the young girl was dressed in a lot of layers, indicating she was extremely afraid of the cold.

"With you here, I’m not cold."

Holly Sawyer shook her head, wrapping her arms around Leo Grant’s waist and burying her head in it.

Warm.

"A hug from you makes it not cold."

Holly Sawyer gently closed her eyes, her face full of joy.

Leo Grant’s warmth seemed quite cozy, and now she felt warm all over.

From top to bottom.

"Silly girl."

Leo Grant ruffled Holly Sawyer’s hair, his heart melting at the sight of her fluffy head in his arms.

The young girl was adorably silly.

"Brother, have you ever had roasted sweet potatoes before?"

Holly Sawyer tilted her head up, looking at Leo Grant with serious inquiry.

It’s the season for roasted sweet potatoes and sugar-fried chestnuts, simple snacks that distinctly mark the season.

Leo Grant was honest: "No."

He had never really tried those common snacks before. Mrs. Hayes usually prepared his meals; all he had to do was eat.

Children from the Grant Family were different from others; they were trained and educated from a young age, so childhood wasn’t particularly joyful.

You could say there was no childhood because their time was filled with various arrangements.

In childhood, time was filled with training and education; when grown, it was filled with work.

Leo Grant’s life was two points of a line: company and home. Besides necessary gatherings, he would return home on time after work, so he didn’t have much concept of many foods.

Mrs. Hayes would keep making him delicious food with variety.

"Then let me treat you to some."

Holly Sawyer blinked and released her hold, running towards a small vendor.

The vendor sold sugar-fried chestnuts and roasted sweet potatoes, with aromas wafting out, and Holly immediately sensed the taste of deep autumn as she approached.

"One isn’t enough for the young girl; does she want another?"

The vendor was an elderly man, looking at Holly with a grin.

Holly was pretty with a sweet mouth. It was her first time buying roasted sweet potatoes, and she chatted with him, so naturally, he remembered this young girl.

"One just fills the stomach."

Holly smiled as she spoke.

She ate half with Diana Curtis and only tasted the flavor, not filling at all.

"Being able to eat is a blessing."

The old vendor chuckled.

His roasted sweet potatoes were quite large, enough for a young man’s meal, yet this small young girl said it just filled her stomach.

"Boss, I want to eat sugar-fried chestnuts."

Tess Young suddenly appeared behind Holly Sawyer, speaking slowly.

The aroma of sugar-fried chestnuts was quite strong.

"I’m not stopping you."

Holly Sawyer rolled her eyes at Tess, speaking with exasperation.

"Boss, can you treat me to some sugar-fried chestnuts?"

Tess Young blinked, eagerly eyeing the sugar-fried chestnuts on the small cart.

She liked sugar-fried chestnuts.

"No way."

Holly Sawyer directly refused, taking the packaged roasted sweet potatoes from the vendor and leaving.

Ugh, she was already annoyed, and now she’s expecting to be treated to food? Dream on, really.

"If you want to eat, the old man will treat you."

The old vendor chuckled, grabbing a few sugar-fried chestnuts for Tess.

"No need, no need, I’ll buy them myself."

Tess Young waved her hands, speaking as she pulled out her wallet.

It wasn’t that she couldn’t afford it; she just wanted to eat something Holly bought for her. Unfortunately, Holly wouldn’t buy it, which was disappointing.

"Here, brother."

Holly Sawyer handed the purchased roasted sweet potatoes to Leo Grant.

"Is it delicious?"

Leo Grant held the bag, his lips curling slightly as he asked slowly.

The aroma alone was enticing, and it should be quite good.

"Yes, yes, very sweet."

Holly Sawyer nodded like a pecking chick.

Roasted sweet potatoes are indeed very sweet, sweet roasted sweet potatoes.

Holly remembered that when she was a child, there were always those hawking voices on the streets, but now they’re gone; many things no longer feel like they did in childhood.

"Sweet roasted sweet potatoes, sweet roasted sweet potatoes..."

As winter approached, the street would be filled with cries of hawking, one after another, particularly prominent for roasted sweet potatoes.

Bexley has them too, and so does Arkenfall.

Schools still have roasted sweet potatoes and sugar-fried chestnuts, but the hawking cries are gone, as times change.

Leo Grant peeled back the layer of a roasted sweet potato, revealing golden flesh inside with a sweet aroma.

"It really is very sweet."

Leo Grant took a bite, the sweet taste spreading in his mouth, melting instantly.

The roasted sweet potato was sweet, and the young girl looked even sweeter.

"I told you so."

Holly Sawyer’s eyes lit up instantly.

"No roasted sweet potato is as sweet as my Holly."

Leo Grant suddenly bent down, gently whispering into Holly’s ear, soft and doting.

In Leo Grant’s eyes, the young girl was the sweetest, no comparison.

Holly Sawyer blinked, looking a bit dazed at Leo Grant, caught off guard.

This sweet talk, so easy for him?

"Brother, I’m really exhausted today."

Holly Sawyer looked up at Leo Grant, mumbling.

"Did you walk too much?"

Leo Grant asked.

"Yes, yes."

Holly Sawyer nodded, face earnest.

"Let brother rub it for you."

Leo Grant pretended to squat down to rub Holly’s legs.
