Chapter 987: Watchout for the Vampires! They Bite

I found something interesting after I saw Victoria told Arin and the other vampires about the existence of three vampires with the explosive device in their mouth. It’s something beneath the castle. A dungeon where they hold humans to have their blood drunk.

There are two rooms under there. One is for the humans who were still alive and the other is for the humans who were already dead. What a horrible way to take care of corpses.

Now that all the vampires have gathered in one room and they are still arguing whether all human should be killed or not, I think it’s a good time for me to infiltrate the castle. And if I stick together with the captured humans, or maybe even the dead humans, the vampires won’t notice me at all. Maybe just Arin who has better senses than other vampires. But for the Vampire King, I doubt that would be the case.

’Victoria, tell Arin that I will enter the castle and hide in the basement where they hold human prisoners. If I concentrate in that room, I think I can hear what happened in that room,’ I said to Victoria via telepathy.

’Then I won’t be useful anymore to relay what I hear here to you. Well, that’s fine. It’s a pain to repeat what the vampires here are saying. Don’t get caught, okay?’ Victoria said.

After telling her what I’m going to do, I jumped down from Ray.

"Ray, sorry again. I’m going to move on my own for now. Do you want to go back to Monsters World, or you want to go back to Cassau?" I asked Ray.

Without any hesitation, Ray turned around to look at where we came from. That’s Cassau. And he quickly run toward that direction with his ful speed. Seems like he’s going to Cassau and play with the kids there rather than going back to the Monsters World.

I checked the area again to look for a path I can take to go to that place. It’s not directly under where the audience room is. But I should still be able to listen to what they say from there.

No other vampires in sight. They’re all watching the ongoing situation in the audience room with curiosity. Some of them look so young. I guess they are the vampires who are confused since they don’t know if humans are bad or not. They just heard the stories from the older vampires that humans were bad.

That’s what I got from looking at the young vampires’ reaction when they watched Arin arguing with their king. Whether what I imagine is true or not, I don’t really care. I just had fun imagining various kind of situation right now.. because it seems like their argument will take a while until it’s over.

I entered the castle secretly. Then I move toward the basement where they held the prisoners.

It’s in front of me now. The people the vampires took as prisoners for their food. And they seem so listless that they were not even aware that I’m right in front of them. Or maybe they just don’t care anymore and thought that I’m one of the vampires.

If I enter this room and told them to keep quiet, I’ll reward them with freedom.

Is what I thought I will do. But before I could say anything and just grabbed the prison bar, I realized that it was made from Etherstone. The material that made me unable to use Aura.

All the bars that hold these prisoners were made using the same material. Though if I want to, I can just destroy the wall which was made with normal material.

But seriously, they have this much Etherstone with them? It’s suspicious.

There’s only two reasons why they have this. First, the cult supplied the vampires with this material. And second is that this material can be found in this mountain. The vampires just thought that they were good to hold the prisoners. Or maybe someone among the vampires knew what Etherstone is.

And so, I made a decision to watch what’s going on in the room filled with corpses. I need to use air magic the whole time so the smell won’t get into my nose.

I already thought that I might enter this room when i saw it from afar. But I never thought that I will really do it.

’Victoria, I’m in the room filled with corpses now. The prison bars to hold living humans are all made using Etherstone. There’s still a chance that not just three of them, but all of the vampires is related to the cult,’ I said to Victoria.

’Then what should we do? Kill all of them in an instant?’ Victoria asked.

’I’ll let Arin decide. She’s not stupid. Even if she decided to leave this place and take care of it another day, I will respect her choice,’ I said.

After I told her that, I can hear the Vampire King raising his voice.

"Humans are bad! Being in the cult as you said or not, they’re all bad! And that cult you said was even worse. You said that they captured monsters like us vampires and exploit them all? Then instead of fighting the cult, it’s best to just kill all humans. No, wait. I think it’s best to make them our slaves so we can drink human blood whenever we want. You have powerful vampires with you. If we joined up, we can do it together!" the Vampire King said.

It doesn’t seem like the Vampire King knew about the cult. But the three vampires with explosive device in their mouth have different reaction. Only those three. And I told Victoria about it.

With that much hatred toward humans, I don’t think they are related to the cult. But I won’t let down my guard.

"Do you know the taboo of us drinking our own kin’s blood?" Arin asked.

"Yes, I know. Those who drink the blood of our own kin will gain incredible strength. But they will also lose their mind and could kill everyone whether they are friends or foes. What about it?" the Vampire King asked.

"There are some people I met. Humans. And just one of them have kill another Vampire King who has drunk the blood of their own kin. Not just that. He also kill the other vampires as if they were nothing. Even if we joined together, it’s impossible to win against him alone. And there are more of them who can kill all of us easily. That’s why I won’t join you to kill humans," Arin said.

Yeah, that was me. Though I had some trouble. It was not easy to defeat him as I need to take him to space. It was one ridiculous battle that I won’t repeat again unless it’s necessary.

Though right now, I’m much stronger than I was at that time. So I don’t think I will do that again.

Arin only knew about it from what she heard as she hasn’t joined us yet at that time. She only heard that I defeated another Vampire King.

Back to the audience room, the Vampire King didn’t believe in what Arin said. But it doesn’t matter anyway.

Because right now, without anyone noticing, three Vampire Dukes from our side had already stood behind the three vampires’ back.

And then Arin raised her hand as a signal. The three Vampire Dukes quickly apprehended the three vampires.

"What are you doing!? Are you thinking to kill your own kin!?" the Vampire King shouted.

"Depend on the situation. I told you that the cult was evil, right? They even make their believers to install some kind of explosive device inside their mouth so their believers can kill themselves if the situation turn south," Arin said.

Then the three Vampire Dukes quickly put their fingers into the mouth of the three vampires. Quickly grabbed the explosive devices, and threw them to a safe place where the explosion won’t reach anyone there.

"...What is that?! They exploded like that! And you three have them in your mouth?!" the Vampire King asked the three vampires angrily.

Now he knew that they are from the cult, right? Will this make them hate the cult?

The three vampires whispered something to each other. i couldn’t hear them from here.

Then, without answering to their King’s question, they tried to resist the power of the three Vampire Dukes. But they should have known that it’s impossible.

So they tried to move around so much until they somehow managed to bite the fingers of the three Vampire Dukes.

One of the Vampire Duke was the former subordinate of the Vampire King I killed. Her name was Carrie. She’s a smart Vampire Duke whose strength is close to a Vampire Queen already.

She quickly retracted her arm and even released the vampires before shouting a warning.

"Be careful! They drank our blood!" Carrie shouted.

The other two Vampire Dukes quickly retreated. And now, not just our vampires. But everyone in that room is being wary and afraid of what will happen next.

Even Arin would never imagine that those three would willing to drink the blood of another vampire. Maybe she shouldn’t remind the others about the taboo today.

Well, I’ll just watch what will happen from here. Surrounded by corpses.
