Chapter 986: There are Vampire Spies

The group of vampires led by Arin finally reached the castle. It’s still under construction. But the vampires led by the Vampire King seem to have been staying there for a while already.

I wonder when they arrived in this mountain and decided to build a castle? It should be more or less a month looking at how much the construction has progressed.

With how many vampires over there building the castle, that should be a good estimation. As anyone can see that it’s a castle.

If they are that good at constructing a castle, maybe I should ask the vampires to build me one. Maybe just to renovate our home.

I checked the surrounding area again to see if there are any other suspicious people other than villagers who were baited to get closer because of the rumor about treasure sighting. I believe that the rumor was spread by the vampires.

There were none. So I don’t think that the cult is watching over this area. Unless one of the vampires was someone’s familiar.

I told Arin and the other vampires to be careful and prepare to fight just in case the other vampires were dangerous. And if a summoner suddenly opened a portal to that place, I told them that it won’t be me. So they had to fight them right away.

For summoners, I think the vampires will be okay. Because this is not the Monsters World. So summoners won’t be able to make a contract with any monster in this world even if those monsters originated from the Monsters World.

I see. Maybe that’s why when Sonia got captured, she was not tamed yet. They tried to keep her alive until they brought her to the Monsters World and then a summoner will make a contract with her.

Though if there’s a tamer, then it will be troublesome. Because the vampires were all wild monsters and not tamed one. So they can still be tamed.

Even then, it will be difficult to tame a vampire. Unless they are tired or injured. When their mental strength is at their weakest. And right now, they are at their best form. They have drunk enough blood to face this entire vampire group by themselves if they have to.

They have a lot of vampires. While we only have a few. But from the look of it, most of the vampires on our side were Vampire Dukes. While they have mostly Vampire Lords. They are weaker than us in quality.

As for experience, well, our vampires have experience fighting against powerful mages and even an Aura master. It’s just sparring, but that’s enough to get experience. While the enemy most likely never fought someone stronger than them.

Experience fighting against an Aura user? Well, as of now, I’m still the only Aura user in this world. Even the cult seems to think that way. And all the cult members who have fought against me were all dead. Some managed to escape, but they escaped before I can show them how strong I really am. So it’s impossible for any of them to have experience in fighting against an Aura user.

Other than the Evil God and the death mage probably. Those two might have experience if they’re really people from the past.

Anyway, Arin and the others finally met the other vampires. And someone from the other group contacted the Vampire King about Arin. Well, maybe he’s the Vampire King. I don’t know. I’m being careful to not be noticed by the Vampire King right now.

Arin and the others were told to wait for a while. I couldn’t hear what they were talking from over here. But Victoria was with them. So she told me everything she heard on that side.

From the look of it, they send a Vampire Duke to greet Arin and the others. They then meet the Vampire Duke and they were politely given the permission to enter and meet the king. Though the Duke is watching Arin carefully. Maybe he believed the rumor of how to evolve into a king.

Even if that’s the case, I believe that there’s no one on that side who is strong enough to face Arin who has drunk a lot of blood before coming here. No one is strong enough to take on Arin.

Even the Vampire King, I think he’s only as strong as our Vampire Duke. I have sparred with some Vampire Dukes before. And I have fought for real against a Vampire King. So I can tell that their strength is similar. The rest is up to their skills and experience.

But the thing is that there’s a chance that the other vampires have more experience than us. After all, who knows how long they have been living in this world?

If they are not with the cult after living for so long, then I guess they have experienced fighting them. Because I’m sure the cult won’t let them be since they are strong species.

I guess I can’t underestimate anyone from now on. Even if they’re just vampires.

Arin and the others were brought to meet the Vampire King. Now, I wonder what will happen next.

’...the Vampire King is stupid,’ Victoria suddenly said.

’What happened?’ I asked back.

’He really thought that Arin and the others are here to join with the gang. There’s no doubt in his words. He was very confident that that’s the case. And he said that with the two of them at the lead, they can eradicate humans and conquer the world,’ Arin said.

Conquering the world? From how he said it, it seems like they have no relation at all with the cult. Because instead of conquering, the cult is going to destroy the world.

Then Victoria continued telling me what happened in there.

Arin replied by saying that she couldn’t trust them since she met some monsters, vampires included, who have been tamed and been made as familiars for the cult. She also said she won’t destroy humanity because there are still good humans. But if the Vampire King or anyone there is related to the cult, then she will judge them to be her enemies.

Well, if the cult is related to this, they will know right away that the vampires who have been fighting them live in Cassau. I guess we need to prepare for huge battle in the near future.

’Oh, this is interesting. The Vampire King replied with asking back "what cult" as if he doesn’t know about them at all,’ Victoria said.

’Even if he doesn’t, that doesn’t mean that all of the vampires were the same. Maybe it’s just a normal vampire who has been turned into a familiar. But letting them be is not something we can do,’ I said.

I can see from here that the Vampire King and Arin have started arguing. The others were just watching because their status is too low to interfere. But seems like everyone has prepared to fight.

Now that everyone’s attention is with the argument. Whether humans must be killed or not all humans are bad. And I finally noticed something.

Three vampires. One Vampire Duke and two normal vampires. They have something familiar with them. An explosive device in their mouth.

As for the Vampire King, I also checked him just in case. But there’s no explosive device in his mouth. And he wasn’t aware that he was being watched by me because he was busy arguing with Arin.

’Victoria. Tell Arin and some other vampires from the group about what I’m going to say. There are at least three vampires in their group who have been contacted by the cult and even joined their cause whether they were tamed or not. They have explosive device in their mouth,’ I said via telepathy.

’Not tamed but joined the cult? If some monsters can join us without having to be tamed, then I guess it’s normal for them to be able to join the cult as well. Tell me who those three vampires are. I’ll let Arin decide what to do,’ Victoria said.

Then I told Victoria the three vampires. Since all the vampires have gathered together in the same place, the room that seems to be the audience room but still under construction, Arin and the others can move fast enough to apprehend them without being stopped.

I could see Victoria moved carefully to Arin’s right ear before she told her about what I said. I didn’t know what Arin said, but Victoria then moved to the other vampires in the group.

Without the Vampire King noticing her, Victoria returned back to Arin’s shoulder and continued telling me what they were talking.

It’s just mostly about the Vampire King’s past of why he couldn’t trust human. I don’t need to know. Because even human themselves have trouble trusting other human beings. So I know that feeling.

I’m just a lucky guy who found people I can trust. If not, I would have gone into killing spree a long time ago. I would either be dead already or have killed the Evil God without destroying the cult entirely if that’s the case.

Let’s see what Arin will do next. I’m sure she already has a plan.
