Chapter 979: It’s Over so Quickly
Chapter 979: It’s Over so Quickly
"With this mission, I will have enough money to buy more boozes. Let’s get home sooner," I said to myself as I rode a horse in the middle of the forest.
I did that on purpose so that the master level wind mage who was pursuing me could hear what I said. And I want to make him think that I really just want to go home and drink alcohol.
My mission is over anyway. They asked me to only guide the others to the nest. The rest is not Robby’s problem.
Though if the fight against the master level mages who tried to ambush them is harder than we expected, then I have no choice but to reveal myself as the Aura user they’re looking for.
I think it will be okay. The enemy only have five master level mages and two expert level mages. Not counting the one who is pursuing me. While we have five master level mages a and a lot of expert level mages who are strong enough and some even have experience of fighting master level mages.
And while they didn’t know how strong we are, we know that they are trying to ambush us. Though I’m not really sure if those four other than the master level earth mage were also master level mages. But since they’re waiting to ambush us there we can only assume as such.
I returned home via different route. To lure the master level wind mage who is watching me to the lizardmen’s location that I found.
Not even the other hunters who came to exterminate the orcs knew about the lizardmen. Other than probably the master level mages who have just arrived as reinforcement.
It didn’t take long until I found the lizardmen blocking my path. I guess they have good sense of smell. Because I saw what they did.
They only appeared in front of me now because they only smelt one person coming. One person and a horse. While before, there were too many of us. So they didn’t dare to attack us.
Perhaps there’s a lizardman’s nest as well nearby. Well, if that’s the case, then that’s fine. Maybe next time we have spies again coming to the city, we ca use the lizardmen just like how we use the orcs now.
"Oh, shit!"
I stopped in a hurry and fell from the horse I was riding. At least that’s how it looked like from the master level wind mage’s point of view. I need to act really good.
Feeling pain in my butt after the fall, I stood up quickly and tried to run away from the lizardmen. And seeing that, the master level wind mage started to approach me.
I pretend to try to escape from the lizardmen. Then the lizardmen surrounded me. So I pretend that I’m going to fight back while holding the blowgun in my hand. Already loaded with a dart.
And when I was about to fight, the master level wind mage descended and I can see him clearly without using Divine Vision.
"Oh, hey! Help me! I’m being surrounded by these monsters! I’ll pay you later after!" I shouted. Asking for help.
The lizardmen also noticed the mage. They were being wary of him.
I’m also the same. Wary of the guy who is here to kill me. If he’s also a summoner who have a familiar who can communicate with other people, those people will know that I killed this guy if I didn’t do it carefully.
He didn’t say a word and just landed on the ground. Which was great. Because it means that the lizardmen can reach him since they can’t fly.
Thinking that the mage is a bigger threat to them, all the lizardmen who were surrounding charged toward the wind mage who was still calm. He’s strong after all.
By the way, I didn’t know if he was a master level mage. But when I saw him coming, he was faster than any average expert level wind mage’s speed. So I assumed that he’s a master level wind mage right away.
I think I need to find a way to make sure if someone is a master level mage or not without using Divine Vision to look at them directly. I can tell if they’re close by sensing their magic. But if they’re too far, it would be difficult. I need something to be able to sense their power level from afar without looking at them in the eye.
But that’s for later. For now, this guy is the problem.
When the lizardmen charged at him, I escaped and hid behind a tree. To make sure that he won’t see me even though he could still sense my location.
And there’s something else he didn’t know. That I have already spread Blobbies all over this place. Very small-sized Blobbies. And some of them were even attached to the lizardmen’s bodies.
Without much effort, all the lizardmen were cut into pieces. That’s how strong he is.
He’s still weaker than me though. But I need to be invisible right now.
So I did not move at all from the tree I was hiding at. And I opened a small portal that the guy couldn’t notice because he focused on his magic to kill the lizardmen previously.
I opened the portal to a piece of flesh that flew near the guy after he cut off all the lizardmen. There’s a small Blobby attached to that flesh. And he didn’t notice because soon after he kill all the lizardmen, seems like he wanted to make sure that there’s no blood dirtied him. And I used that chance to attack.
He didn’t realize that there’s a portal above him. If he’s a bit stronger, then he could have blown away that piece of flesh soon after he cut those monsters to pieces. Maybe he could even blow them away and kill them at the same time. But he didn’t.
And from that small portal above his head, a left arm appeared. That’s my left arm. I inserted my left arm into the small portal.
Then while holding small knife, I swung it so strongly and filled with Aura. Splitting him in two from the head.
I aimed at his head so I can kill him instantly without him able to contact anyone else. Once the brain was cut, there’s no way for anyone to be able to do anything. Unless probably death mage. We don’t know much about them.
And I don’t think this one is a death mage. So he died without knowing what killed him.
Just like that, and I’m done. I have killed the master level wind mage. And even if the cult is suspicious if he’s a summoner, there’s nothing they can do to find out that I was the one who killed him. The only thing they can do is sending more spies.
Now that I’m done, and there’s no horse for me to ride, I chose to run. And this time, I ran back to the hill where I just left before.
There were traces of battle. But seriously, did they think that they have a chance to win with just two expert level mages? Even if we called ourselves the support group, some of us can fight well.
No injuries. And I can see the two idiots have been restrained.
Next, let’s see how the people attacking the nest were doing.
I could see from all the way here, but I also moved to the nest to see more of what happened.
Some ended up killing the enemy, but some succeeded in arresting them. There’s only one left who are trying hard to survive. The master level earth mage who used to hide underneath the city. And I’m going there to see her fate.
"Who are you guys?! How could people from nowhere be this strong!?" she shouted.
"Most of us here are hunters who are being trained by the country to help for the fight against the cult. Now, are you with the cult?"
He’s the master level mage from the nearby town. And is that the setting? That most of hunters here who were stronger than average to be those who were trained to fight the cult?
I guess that’s what we want the cult to think. Though in the end, the cult will still target the city since they want to get rid those who might be obstacles toward their goal. And we just told them that we’re the obstacles.
In the end, we arrested the two idiots and two master level mages including the woman who has been spying on us from underground.
As for the orc’s nest, well, there’s no trace of them anymore. As if they were never here at all. I guess we really overdid it with this extermination mission..
The cult will be suspicious to the city. But I think I will have enough time to get myself some time for a break. I need vacation!
