Chapter 973: Make it as Real as Possible
I’m in Cassau right now. Playing with the kids for a while. They are pestering me to bring them to Monsters Village because it has been a while since they went there.
And that was because some spies, who are presumably from the cult, were spying on me. I haven’t even been able to return for a while already.
"Sorry. Although I’m going to return to the Monsters Village after this, I can’t bring you with me. Because I’m still in the middle of a mission," I said to the kids.
They understand it. After all, they’re all smart kids.
They have been living with us for a while already. Ever since Celestine joined us. Though that Celestine is now living more in Consenza than here. But she also raised another orphanage over there.
They know full well that we are in the middle of conflict. And they also know that we are trying our best to make sure that they won’t have to participate in this conflict in the future. That’s why after I said that I’m in the middle of a mission, they understood it and stopped asking me again.
Well, that’s just for today. If I return back here again tomorrow, they will ask me again. And they will at least ask me once a day until I can give them what they want. Because they also know that I’m spoiling them.
After I had enough, I contacted someone to help me with something. Julia from Varadis.
"Julia, I need your help," I said.
"Alright. What should I do?" She asked me back.
"I’ll pick you up in five minutes. Then we will go to Monsters Village. I need you and Crabbe both to have a sparring session with me. Two-against-one. So I can get some slight injuries from burn and physical damage," I said.
"I don’t get it, but I will do it. You can come here right now and explain why we need to beat you up," Julia said.
Since I got her permission, I left right away.
She’s in the middle of a conversation with old man Henry, her father and the king of Varadis.
There are also other people I have seen before. But I don’t remember their names. They should be other old man Henry’s kids.
"So, why do you need us specifically to spar against you?" Julia asked.
"Actually, some people started spying on me who was disguising myself as Robby. You can tell from what I wear, right? I was in the middle of a mission. Scouting on an orc’s nest. Then I tried to run away from the orcs when those spies sacrificed me and left me behind. I heard that they have returned back to the city. So I need to make it as if I tried hard to fight the orcs and managed to survive," I explained.
If I want to, I can kill those orcs easily. But I’m Robby now. So I need to be patient.
"I need to get real injuries instead of artificial one to convince those spies. There were several orcs. Including an orc wizard who can use fire magic. So, I need your fire magic and Crabbe’s strength to make the injuries seem real. And sparring is a good way to do it more naturally," I said.
Julia’s fire can be used to burn some part of my clothes. That will make those spies think that the orc Wizard hurt me. And Crabbe, I will tell him to not fight with his magic. That will help with physical damage I receive since the orcs didn’t have any bladed weapon.
"Why me? Why not Candy? She’s also a master level fire mage now," Julia asked.
"I was just at Cassau before coming here. And she said that she was busy with something. So I asked you. If you’re not busy, you can help me. The other option would be Fabio since he’s a master level fire mage as well now. But considering that he’s a king, he should be busier than you who is a princess. So I didn’t ask him. Also, you’re the strongest fire mage we have. So please help me," I said.
"Sure. Father, I will be going now," Julia said to her father.
Old man Henry just nodded. Then I opened a portal to go to Monsters Village.
I have already informed Crabbe about the spar via telepathy. And he agreed to help me.
So as soon as we get to the village, we entered the Colosseum and greet Crabbe who has been waiting for us there.
"Since it’s to disguise yourself, I guess you won’t use your full power, right?" Julia asked.
"I will use Aura and air magic. Though for my weapon, it will be this blow gun. IT’s actually quite effective as melee weapon as well. I can hold it more easily than holding a gun. Though my gun is Victoria so I can transform her as I wish," I said.
"But you will still limit your strength, right? Well, good luck. Because I won’t," Julia said.
"That’s what I want. Now, shall we fight?"
As soon as I said that, Crabbe charged toward me. He understood his role perfectly to not use water magic at me. But that doesn’t mean he won’t use it any other way.
He used two of his arms to shoot water behind him to boost his speed. Then he used his other two arms to try to hit me.
I blocked his attack. But he quickly pulled back his right hand and punch me right on the cheek. Now the bruise will be quite convincing.
I need to do it this way because I’m strong. And Crabbe is stronger than orc, so he should be able to give some damage to me in a way that average mage will receive if they got hit by an attack by an orc.
Using the blow gun though, I covered it with Aura and swing it toward Crabbe who protected himself with his shell. Now that’s hard.
Julia then came from behind Crabbe and shoot several powerful Fireballs at once. Thanks to the game of tag, these two, and everyone else who have played it a few times, have been able to cooperate with each other even better. Without having to talk at all about their strategy.
I swung the blow gun again to block the Fireballs, but some still reach me. And that’s how I got some burn marks and got my clothes burned a bit.
I purposely get some more injuries. Using my own excellent recovery rate as Aura user, it will heal easily. Though for tomorrow, the injuries, although they won’t hurt, they will still be obvious. And I just need to act well tomorrow. Maybe I should run the whole night tonight and make myself tired on purpose tomorrow.
Fighting these two powerful opponents while holding myself back is hard. For these two, only Crabbe received damage.
He understood his role well in a fight. Protecting the others behind him with his strong body and armor.
So, although he got some part of his body damaged and his bones broken, Julia was still fine. Thanks to that, it ended with my loss.
"...Acting as Robby is difficult," I said.
"I’m sure it is. I’m glad we won, but I’m not satisfied since you’re not at your full strength. Next time you ask for a spar, let’s do it for real and don’t hold back," Julia said.
"Crabbe, how are you doing?" I asked Crabbe.
"I’m in pain. But they will heal soon," Crabbe said.
He has similar regeneration ability like the werewolves. I want that skill as well.
Then I returned Julia back to her home before I returned to the forest where I was being chased by the orcs.
There’s nothing for me to do. But I should do as planned and wait here until tomorrow when I can return to the city.
I should reach the city in the morning. Because I heard that the spies were still there.
If I return and tell the truth that those two sacrificed me so they could escape, the people in the city won’t let them do as they please. Even the inn they were staying at won’t let them stay if they learn how horrible those two are.
Well, that’s the script we will play. As for the master level earth mage though, we can take care of her later.
"Hmm... what should I do until morning then? Should I just sleep?" I asked myself.
"Since you need to look tired, how about do some training until morning? Keep swinging your sword until morning and that should be enough," Victoria suggested.
"I guess that’s one way to get tired while also get stronger. If I can get stronger though. Victoria, turn yourself into a sword as heavy as possible. I will swing you without using Aura until morning," I said.
"That’s sure to make you tired. Let’s do that," Victoria said as she transformed into a sword.
Though I still don’t have a right hand. So I just swing the sword with my left hand until morning.
The sun is rising now. And it’s time to go home. Let’s see what the spies will do after they saw me return.
