Chapter 968: They’re Trying to See My Limit
I looked at my phone and there’s a new report coming. Another battle in another small country.
Now that all the small country that have allied themselves with us in the fight against the cult have at least one master level mage, it shouldn’t be hard to protect those country. But to think that they attacked at the same time. They are planning for something.
"Crabbe, kill them all if possible. I’ll bring the other Crab People here as well to help. I think I’’m going to be needed in another location," I said to Crabbe via telepathy.
He’s in the middle of a fight, so it’s best to leave him be and not distract him.
Then I opened a portal to Monsters World and go there. I informed the Crab People about the battle and they were willing to help.
"What about me?" Shelia asked.
"There’s another battle in different country. This one is close to where you’re supposed to be. So I guess you will fight there," I said.
"Great. I will show them how strong I am now," she said.
After bringing the Crab People to where Crabbe was, I move to the other country and brought Shelia there. I could see that the people have started fighting. And some mages were trying to evacuate the citizens.
"Shelia, over there. Once you get close to the battle, tell me. Then I will bring the other werewolves there," I said.
"I wish that I could just do it alone. But this is war after all. Though I will still kill the most," Shelia said.
Crabbe on one place, and Shelia in another place. This is suspicious. So I took out my phone and write something for everyone to see.
"I made Crabbe and the Crab People fight in one country. Then Shelia and the werewolves in another country. If I’m right, then there’s going to be another attack where I have to bring another familiar and a group of monsters to fight again. Seems like this is a plan for the cult to see how much force I can bring with me."
If I’m right, then I have to not only bring Graham and the angels for the next battle. I also have to bring other monsters from the village that the cult think they are my tamed monsters.
"Emergency meeting, right now. Roy can come here right away. Lina is bringing everyone else here."
That’s Albert’s response after seeing what I wrote. And I used a portal to go there right away.
It’s been a while, but Mustache was here as well. He’s Albert’s guard again just like usual. Though I thought that he’s supposed to be on a break like the other master level mages.
"You’re not taking a break?" I asked Mustache.
"I have been on a break for three months. This is where I should be," Mustache said.
What a stubborn person. Or should I say loyal? I don’t know.
Well, if Albert thinks it’s fine, then it’s fine.
It didn’t take long for Lina to bring everyone here. And even after bringing everyone here, she’s staying here as my maid. And she also helped serving refreshments for everyone here from our home. What a dedicated maid I have.
"Even though it’s not much, I can stay by your side more now thanks to Sonia," Lina said as she stood diagonally behind me like a personal maid of mine. That’s not wrong though.
"You have always been a great help for me though. But if this is what you want, then that’s fine. Just know your own strength and don’t force yourself to go into the battle. Being with you more in a meeting like this is already good enough," I said.
I don’t want her to force herself to join the battle. Especially when she’s just an expert level summoner.
Even if she reached master level, I don’t think I will let her fight. She doesn’t have anything else other than her familiars to protect her.
Maybe if she got something amazing that can help improve her physical abilities even after reaching master level in the future, I will let her. But if not, then I won’t let her.
"So, is everyone here?" Albert asked.
"Only those who can. The two kings from the attacked countries are unable to come for the obvious reason. But they are well-protected, so it’s fine," Lina said.
"Alright, that’s fine. Does everyone here agreed with what Roy thought? That the cult is also trying to test his limit with his familiars? I think that’s the case," Albert said.
"You’re right. I don’t think they will attack another location right away. But if they do, they must be thinking of seeing Roy’s limit. Some of the cult members brought monsters with them, right? Then we can assume that some of those monsters are familiars of a summoner. And using telepathic message, they informed what happened," Sunglasses said.
"So we’re here to discuss what trick we should use to make the cult think that Roy’s portal actually has limit? And how do we do that?" someone asked.
"Good thing that we have more master level mages now. It means that we don’t have to get Roy to do everything on his own. As long as they can stop the attack, that’s good enough. For the monsters, we don’t have to bring them all the time," old man Henry said.
"Wait a moment, that’s not everything, right? What if they already found out the location of the Monsters Village in Monsters World? They’re testing to see if Roy will reduce the power there by sending the monsters here. While their main force will go to the village and destroy everything. That’s also a possibility that we have to imagine," Toni suddenly said.
He’s right. If the Monsters Village is under attack, then... wait, is there anything I should take note of?
Right. If the village is under attack, there’s a chance that I won’t have them anymore as my force. That would not be good. Also, most of them joined thinking that they have found their place. The place where they can compete with each other and unleash their desires. Other than killing desires obviously.
So, if that place disappeared, then we will lose the monsters’ trust even if the monsters managed to survive. Some might even willing to leave. That’s fine. But what if they wanted to join the cult instead?
I have to know that they are not tamed monsters. They’re all wild monsters. Mostly. And they are free to do anything. They just live in the same place because that place can provide them with what they want or need.
Which means that if there’s a powerful tamer, they won’t be able to protect themselves and let themselves be tamed.
I do believe that they all have strong mental strength. Enough to disobey the order of the tamer just like the Dragon Kings. But what if they cloned my monsters like they did to the Dragon Kings?
"Well, we did let the floating islands float around the village to lure the cult to attack us. I guess I can’t get the monsters to help us all the time anymore. Does anyone have a guess of when they will do this again? With more power at more places possibly," I asked.
I don’t think they will do it now. I don’t think the people they sent are enough for me to bring all my monsters.Even the Crab People and the werewolves I brought today was not everyone. Some still in the village.
"I’m sure that they are preparing already. They are already thinking of how many master level mages and contracted monsters that will come next so we can not have reinforcement from the monsters. But seeing at how they attacked us from the last few skirmishes, I think it will be a while until then. Probably a few weeks. But that’s just a guess," Toni said.
"Then it should be enough until the master level mages finished with their vacation time. Should we just continue like usual then? I think that’s the only thing we can do. As for the thing in Monsters Village, we can only trust Roy about it," Albert suggested.
"I think so too. Good thing we caught on to it early. Is there anyone else who have rough guess of what the cult is probably trying to do? We should take care of everything right away," old man Henry said.
What else is the cult trying to do, huh? Obviously, to reduce our strength as much as possible. To make us tired from the many fights we will face. To make us feel restless from not knowing how, when, and where they will attack.
There are too many guesses. At least we learned something.
"They have an expert strategist with them. Maybe multiple of them. I’ll try to interrogate the Archbishop again to see if he still has anything else he kept as secret. Roy, let’s go meet him tomorrow," Albert suggested.
I guess that’s what we will do tomorrow. Meeting the one who took my hand tomorrow.
By the way, the battle in the two countries ended with our victory. The werewolves and the Crab People helped a lot so the people there promised them rewards. And I had to bring them back late after they finished with their feast.
