Chapter 969: A Man Looking for Someone with a Missing RIght Hand

It has been a few days since the previous meeting. There were no more attack from the cult yet. But we’re sure that they will do it again. Either to find out who and where I am, or to find the limit of how much monsters I can order, or both.

Again, we’re at a momentary peace. Though it’s good since we will have more time until Angela and Kayla reached master level.

But if the cult were thinking of doing some infiltration mission, then that would be difficult. If it’s me in Robby’s town, then I can leave it to other people to figure out the stranger in the city who just entered.

But if it’s in Cassau, then I won’t be able to recognize them. But I don’t think I have to worry much. Everyone I want to protect life in the same place. And most of them can protect themselves.

With Lina and Elsie there, we don’t have to worry about enemy approaching. And there’s also Jewel and the others.

Candy was strong. That’s for sure. But her lightning magic is not as powerful as Jewel’s lightning magic even though they’re both master level mages. and I said it as someone who have been hit directly with their lightning magic.

We did sparring session a few more times after the first time they returned from the Spirit Mountain. And I even let myself get hit by their lightning magic.

Maybe it was because Jewel’s transformation that she has stronger firepower. After all, among all the rhino variants that she can transform to, there’s a rhino that can use lightning. And because of that, her lightning magic powered up.

Though Candy’s magic couldn’t be underestimated. She’s also a master level fire mage after all. And using both of them, her firepower is among the greatest we have.

Both of them live in my house. So I can feel safe since they will protect the house.

And so, I can go anywhere I want while feeling safe that there won’t be anything bad happening at home. Unless the cult find out that I live in Cassau and decided to destroy everything there.

Well, it doesn’t have to be me. It could be Kayla, Jewel, or other people they recognized after fighting them so long.

They found out that Kayla or the others live in Cassau, so they came and attack the city in order to crush them.

When I asked about this to Albert and the other kings, they said that I can rest easy.

"We’re confident that sooner or later, the cult will found out that they live in Cassau. They are so famous after all. But we’re also confident that they won’t stupidly attack Cassau knowing how powerful Kayla and the others are even when they’re just expert level mages. Unless they’re prepared to sacrifice their lives. But knowing that we have the Aura user, we thought that even if they prepared to risk their lives, it would be to kill you instead of going for Kayla and the others. Which is why we don’t think that the cult will attack Cassau anytime soon," Albert said.

Seems like they have discussed about it when I’m not there. Or maybe I was there, but I didn’t pay attention to the meeting.

Well, I don’t care. At least it means that we don’t have to worry much about Cassau being attacked as long as I continue acting as Robby in another city.

And that’s what I’m doing today. Playing as Robby acting as a hunter.

"Ah, it’s you again. Here, a quest for you. Now leave."

The receptionist looked like she was bored seeing my face once in a while. But that’s actually acting.

She usually acted friendly toward me. But she appeared to be bored to see me because there’s something going on.

Under the desk, there’s a paper written with instruction and report.

It says that there’s a suspicious movement in the area I supposed to do my quest and asked me to take care of it. And I will also meet other hunters who were actually agents to help me there. I need to put up my act to be more convincing and see what that suspicious movement is about.

I have been acting as Robby for a while. And when I’m acting as Robby, my way of fighting is different than usual.

I acted as an average air mage when hunting. But my weapon is not a gun. It’s a blow gun. Something like a pipe with a hole in the middle connecting from one end to another. And when I blow air into it, a dart will come out from the other side with great speed.

The idea is that I, Robby, would use air magic to help improving his lung so he can shoot powerful dart from his blow gun. Obviously, the blow gun is made of Blobbies. And so was the dart.

With this, even if the cult think that it’s unusual, they will think that this is how Robby has been fighting. But it also to show them that Robby is an air mage. Which will make them more suspicious of me and will be baited to come to the city.

There’s a guy with a blow gun who can defeat monsters. And he is missing a hand. The cult then will try to connect Robby with the Aura user and will investigate me. Thinking that Robby is the Aura user and he’s really good at acting.

Anyway, I’m leaving now to take care of the quest and helped the fake receptionist with the mission.

I left the city and enter the forest where the target monster should be. And also where the suspicious movement was reported coming from.

I walked casually in the forest and finally, I saw the orc that was meant to be my target.

I prepared my blow gun and blow a dart toward the orc’s eye. I should have prepared poisonous dart instead of a normal dart, but it was quite effective as well.

Then when I get close to the orc that was in pain, I used sleeping gases on it and make it sleep. Then I killed it with a knife. That’s how Robby did his job.

"You handled that orc well. What’s your level in your air element?"

All of a sudden, someone spoke to me. Though it’s not really sudden to me since I could tell that for a while already, someone has been following me.

I didn’t have to use my Divine Vision. I just used my heightened sense without using Aura thanks to the game of tag I did a lot with the monsters. It also somehow improved my senses.

"What does it matter?" I ignored the man.

"Well, it does actually matter. I’m actually looking for a man with a missing right hand. I was told that he’s a powerful air mage. But when I look at you, you’re not that powerful. He used some kind of weapon called rifle, but you used a blow gun. I guess you’re not the right person," he said.

Did he just mentioned his mission so casually? Then there’s only two reason why he did that.

First, he was stupid. But I don’t think anyone stupid will be asked to do important mission.

Second, now that he thought that I’m not the guy he’s looking for, he’s going to kill me. If that’s the case, then I would have no choice but to reveal my secret to him. Though when I do, he will die and have no time to inform someone else using telepathy in case he’s a summoner.

There are other reasons, like I’m totally not the guy he’s looking for and he’s unrelated at all to the cult. But I won’t think about that for now.

Also, if he’s trying to kill me, I don’t have to worry. Because a party of hunter is coming already. They are the party that I supposed to meet coincidentally.

"Hey, someone is here! Oh, it’s just Robby. And there’s also another guy here."

A girl’s voice suddenly appeared in this forest. Now this guy in front of me won’t be able to kill me unless he’s confident that he can kill everyone.

The girl is with her party. A party of hunters that consist of two men and two women. They are the people that the receptionist told me about before the mission.

I just casually ignored everyone and collected the proof of the subjugation, while the party confronted the other guy.

"He’s ignoring us again like usual. What a pain that guy is," one of the men in the party said.

"Ignore him. What about the other guy? Hey, who are you? Are you his friend? Well, I don’t think so. I don’t think Robby has any friend at all," the other man in the party said.

Confronted by a party of hunters that he didn’t know, whatever he was planning has gone to dust.

Now, let’s see how he’s going to escape from this situation.
