Chapter 955: The Ultimate Game of Tag Part 2
Chapter 955: The Ultimate Game of Tag Part 2
Inside the forest, I was running without looking back. I knew someone was chasing me. And whoever it is, they are faster than me in the forest. Most likely an elf.
It’s just one elf. That elf must have noticed that I would enter the forest to hide and chase after me.
I’m really loved here. Everyone wants a piece of me.
I guess it’s normal to eliminate the strongest person right away. But for this game, I decided to not use my Divine Vision at all. So I lost a huge advantage already.
Fine, since this is a training, I’ll play along.
I stopped running while in the middle of the forest and looked back at the one who was chasing after me. It was a male elf. He also used his plant magic to grow vines from the plants nearby to trap me.
"Sorry, but it’s rare for me to have the chance to fight you as the others would fight over for the chance to have a sparring session with you. So I’ll make it this way to not let you get away from our fight," the elf said.
"You wanted a one on one? You don’t even bring your bow and arrows with you. Will it be an unarmed combat then?" I asked.
"Yes. But the rule is the same as the rule of this game of tag. The first to touch the other will win. Because I know already that I’m no match against you," he said.
From the look of it, he’s a bit different than other leves. This one is much more muscular than other elf. And I guess that’s why even though we’re in a forest, he couldn’t catch up to me quickly because he focused on his power rather than speed and agility like other elves. Probably the reason why he wanted to face me one-on-one.
"Okay. Let’s play then," I said.
As soon as I said that, the elf threw a punch toward me. That is still considered as a tag because it’s his fist touching my head. Only if it touched that is.
I avoided it, but I moved my head too much than usual. It’s because usually I dodged an attack only be a hair’s breadth. It was all thanks to my Divine Vision. I could see and predict the opponent’s attack by looking at their muscle inside their body.
But now that I didn’t use my Divine Vision, I moved my head too much that I couldn’t even give a proper counter to that attack. The elf, even though he’s different than other elves, he’s still an elf and rather quick with his feet. So he dodged it before I could hit him.
This game was for me to practice my agility and movement. But to be facing against someone in an one-on-one situation is not bad at all. I learned what I couldn’t do.
Maybe in the future, there will be a situation where everything was too much for me to see with my Divine Vision, or even Divine Vision was unable to be used. So learning to move by instinct will be good.
I got Divine Vision by defeating an All-seeing Eye monster. And for Aura user, the Aura ability they will receive will be related to what they desired most. And what I desired most was for me to be able to make decision based on my observation. That’s how I got my Divine Vision.
But now, I can’t use that. I need to also improve my instinct. Because there might be a chance that someone will try to kill me but without any killing intent. So I had to be able to react in any situation.
Though having Divine Vision is still a huge advantage for me. But this is a training. So it’s good to be able to fight without having to rely on it.
But I feel like I’m a genius. Because the longer I faced this elf, the better I became.
When he attacked me, the distance where I dodged his hand is now not as far as before. And I can threw a counter easier and more efficient.
And finally, after I dodged his punches, I ducked below and threw an uppercut to his stomach. The Blobbies attached to him then transformed and turned into tall hat that tells that he was already eliminated.
"Thanks for the match. I grew stronger even more. If you still want to have a proper fight, I’ll prioritize sparring against you next time," I said.
"Ugh... maybe another time. With this rule, I already knew that I’m no match against you. Even without your Divine Vision," he said.
"So you knew that I didn’t use Divine Vision at all," I said.
"Not just me. But everyone will."
Everyone will? Wait, Is he trying to—
"HE’S HERE! AND HE WON’T USE HIS DIVINE VISION!"
I was right. He shouted and make sure that everyone knew that I won’t use Divine Vision.
"I might be eliminated already, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t play anymore," he said.
"And that also doesn’t mean that I can’t do anything to you anymore. Sorry, but I will knock you out now."
And so, my fist greeted his jaw. He fainted right away and I left him on the ground as I tried to escape.
I can run in the air, but that will only show everyone my location. Though I believe that those with excellent sense of smell have noticed where I’m hiding already.
So I also need to hide my scent. And I just jumped into the artificial lake without hesitation. Only for me to be greeted by five Crab People.
"See? If we wait here, I’m sure that someone will jump into the water and hide," someone said. And the one who said that was already eliminated.
Even if they got eliminated, they will still play. But it’s good because it teaches them what to do even when you’re not fighting. That doesn’t make it any less annoying.
"His mana shouldn’t be recovered yet. So I’m sure that he won’t use air magic too much and will leave soon. Let’s get him before he left the water!"
I can still use Aura though. So when all of them rushed toward me, I kicked the water and sink down very fast. Though the water is their home. They are better than me here.
While avoiding them, I touched one of them. Now only three left. But the other two still there and helped them by giving them some advise.
If I stay any longer, I will be eliminated. I have to leave.
After swimming around for a while, I finally found a chance for me to get out of the lake. And right when I breached out of the water, someone’s claw about to hit me. It was a weretiger’s claw.
I didn’t see him when I was about to leave. But maybe thanks to the fight against the elf in the forest before, I can instinctively react to the attack even without any killing intent from the opponent. It was a good idea to face that elf one-on-one before.
The weretiger was about to chase after me, but when he sensed that there are Crab People trying to breach out of the water as well, he changed his target.
So now it became one weretiger against two Crab People after the weretiger eliminated one of them.
Thanks to that weretiger, the Crab People became too busy to chase after me so I can leave that place.
If this is just a game, then I would find a place to hide. But this is not just a game. This is also training. So hiding all the time won’t help me improve at all. That’s why I have to continue running.
I met some other monsters, but they are busy trying to eliminate each other. Some were in group, while some were moving on their own.
I also met someone on the way but I managed to eliminate them.
I couldn’t see everything since I refrain myself from using Divine Vision, but I know whom I should be wary of. Obviously, the strong monsters. Including Victoria, Shelia, Graham, Crabbe, Tiger, the Centaur, Tia, Cooldra, and probably even Jack. That’s the top of the list that I have to be wary of.
Especially Victoria. Since everyone here has Blobbies, she should know who and where we are. There’s no point in hiding from her. In fact, hiding will only make it easier for her.
Since the forest is the home of the elves, I tried to go back to the Village. But right at the edge of the forest, my path was blocked by a huge shadow.
"This is a fun game, Master. And it’s also a good way for training as well. I wish my sister can play this game with everyone."
A half-angel and half-demon with twelve wings on his back spoke to me. It was my third familiar, Graham.
Just when I thought that he’s one of the most dangerous players here, and he’s in front of me now.
Well, let’s see what I can do against him.
