Chapter 945: The Aftermath in the Capital of Varadis

I slept in the hotel in Cassau. And when I woke up, it’s already morning the next day.

We fought from midnight after the reunion. Then fought for a long time and returned home in the afternoon. After getting some food to fill our stomach, I instantly lay on the bed in the afternoon. And I only woke up just now.

I slept for around twelve hours. But my mana hasn’t recovered completely. Still, it’s enough to bring back everyone from the battlefield.

I asked the staff to get me some breakfast while I chatted with Victoria.

"So, that guy was not the one who killed you. Does that mean you remember his face?" I asked Victoria.

"No. But I’m sure that it was not that guy at all. The one who killed me was shorter. I don’t remember his full appearance, but I remember that I had to look down on the one who killed me even though we’re both standing on an even ground. And I wasn’t that tall. In fact, my height was just below the average of the girls’ height. So I remember pretty much of the height of the one who killed me because I had to look down on him," Victoria said.

"Are you sure that it was ’him’? What about the death mage? I heard that the death mage was a woman. Maybe she’s the one who killed you instead," I asked Victoria.

Then Sonia who hasn’t returned back to Cassau joined us. In fact, she’s the one who carried my food to the table. Is she going to work as a waitress here?

"I’m here because I got bored, so I asked the staff here if I can help. And about that death mage, I didn’t see much of her appearance before I lost my consciousness. But her voice sounded like a woman. So I assumed that the death mage was a woman. As for her height, I couldn’t tell at all," Sonia said.

"I guess we gained a lot in yesterday’s battle. But it’s not good enough. Even worse, we lost a lot as well," I said.

"Right. Like your right hand," Sonia said.

Meanwhile, Angela didn’t say anything at all. But I think I understand what she wanted to say. But she needs to tell me herself.

"Angela, just tell me what you want," I said.

"...Okay. I’d rather improve my magic first and become a master level mage quickly. If I was stronger, then maybe you wouldn’t have to lose your hand," Angela said.

I got Victoria to approach my right wrist and turned herself into a hand. Now that I thought about it, they haven’t seen that I can do this.

"I feel better with my real hand, but this is also convenient for me since I can transform my right hand into anything I want now. Though I don’t think Victoria herself need to do it. Her clones can just do it," I said.

Then I brought them all to the valley. I returned Sara and Candy back home. They were still there.

By the way, it’s about Shirley. For a princess, it’s interesting to see her overslept here in Melk. She hasn’t even awakened yet even though Kayla and Angela were already awake. I guess she’s that tired.

After that, I move to the other places before I opened a portal to the capital of Varadis.

"It’s really bad. But it’s good that the earth mages over there already built some shelters. I guess I’ll go and help them. You can meet up with old man Henry," Kayla said before she left to help the others build more shelters.

And I just checked at how busy old man Henry, Julia, and William were. Talked with them for a while before I walk around the city.

"I know that I watched your past and saw how Melk ended up getting destroyed by the monsters stampede, but seeing a city got destroyed to this state myself makes me sad," my right hand started talking

"Victoria, not in public. It’s weird if I do that right now," I said.

Then she left my right hand with her clones staying as my right hand and just talked to me in her usual spot. My shoulder.

"Just how many civilian casualties were there?" Victoria asked.

"They said that hundreds of people died. And thousands of them were injured," I said.

"Good thing that this country is well-known to have amazing doctors. Even without healing magic, the doctors can help a lot of patients," Victoria said.

"Right. But even then, they still lack doctors here. I guess a lot of the doctors were dead as well. I think I’ll help the doctors here until lunch. What about you?" I asked Victoria.

"I’ll just stay with you so you can have someone to talk with," she said.

Even if she leaves, we can still communicate with each other via telepathy. I guess she just wanted to see for herself what this war costs to the people here.

Thanks to Kayla, they built the hospital first. It’s huge and have several floors. And everyone from all around the places helped bring the patients who were unable to move there.

Not just the doctors and the healers. Even normal civilians helped each other and carry as many injured people to the hospital.

Some who were earth mages didn’t help with building the shelters. But they helped with looking for anyone who got buried under the rubble.

Though they only helped the people who were still alive. They didn’t bother looking for the people who were already dead. Except for their close relatives, I guess.

There’s also a woman in front of me who tried to lift a huge pillar on her own. While others passing by didn’t have the time to care. Because the one who got crushed under the pillar was already dead.

The woman knew that it’s useless to ask for help. But she didn’t want to leave the man. So I helped her moving the pillar.

"Sorry, but it’s hard for anyone to help everyone. This tragedy happened to everyone. And it’s best to rescue those who are still alive first," I apologized even though it’s not my fault.

"It’s okay. I understand. But still, thank you for the help."

The woman cried as she hugged the dead man in her chest.

This is not the first time I see something like this. And it might not be the last as well.

But at least this time, I can help. Well, as long as there’s no emergency like another sudden attack by the cult.

Then I walked to the hospital while also digging out all the dead people I found on the way. They will be given proper burial later after everything here is stabilized.

And so, until lunch time, I became well-known as the doctor who gave the fastest treatment to the patients here. That’s why I know that I will be done before lunch time.
