Chapter 937: Knife Hand
Chapter 937: Knife Hand
It’s difficult fighting with one hand.
It might look like I’m doing fine fighting with my left hand alone, but it’s not.
Because of the weight on my right hand is gone, I have to adjust my balance.
Even though I only lost my hand from the wrist, it still affecting my balance. Especially since I’m not used to it yet.
Even more, the enemies have now noticed my weakness in my right side. So they would charge at me from my right after someone from my left side distracted me.
Since I kept my distance from the enemies on my right side, I was still fine. But it won’t be long before they can surround me. Though I’m still faster than them, so it will take a while until they can get close.
Still, it was so annoying that they know what to do against me. Even though the Archbishop is not here, it seems like they all agreed that I have to be killed no matter what.
Well, that’s kind of obvious. After all, I blocked around a thousand of them from entering the portal. If one person can do that, then he’s the most dangerous enemy that everyone has to kill.
The enemies on my left were in charge of distracting me, and the enemies on my right will try to grab me since if they use magic, I would try to escape instead.
None of them care if they will die. Everyone is ready to risk their lives.
The same goes for our side as well. We’re all ready to die. But unlike them, we won’t be stupid enough to cast magic that will kill our own allies on the way.
So far, I’m doing fine. I still want to go to the building in this valley, but it seems that it’s impossible until all of the enemies here are defeated.
’Roy, Albert said that even if the Archbishop has been captured, it’s best if you can capture as many as possible alive. Because the Archbishop might never spill the information we want. But for the others, the degree of their loyalty might be different. So if one person leaked something and never said anything else, and another person leaked another different thing, then we can just combine all those information. That’s what Albert told me to relay on you. Though I think you don’t need to care about capturing anyone alive with how much enemies you’re facing. Just do your best,’ Victoria said.
Capture as many as possible? I’ll leave that part to Sara and the others. I’m sure that they can capture a few of them. But that’s for later since we’re still outnumbered.
But maybe I can restrain the people who have their blood drunk by the vampires but still alive. They don’t even have any power to move. Though I’ll just capture them later since we’re way too busy right now.
It’s also not a good time to think about the enemies’ lives. I have to get out of here alive.
As I thought so, the enemies have somehow get closer to my right side. And they are really being careful to not get kicked by me, so they were really close right now.
Now then, what should I do? Dodge them only to face more enemies, or kick them only to get the enemies on the other side to surround me?
My answer? Punch the closest enemy with my right.
Even if I lost my hand, my limb is still there. So I can just cover it with Aura to protect my... arm? Wrist? Whatever. Just make it stronger. And I also need to gauge the distance because it won’t be my normal punch with my fist. There’s no fist there. But I still threw a punch.
Though the result was that the enemy I punched was a bit too far to receive the full impact of my punch. The second one was too close. Only after the fifth punch after killing several enemies with the sword on my left did I finally able to gauge the right distance to throw a punch strong enough to kill a master level mage.
With this, they can’t use the same plan anymore. Because they experienced it first hand that the loss of my hand doesn’t mean much anymore.
Well, that’s actually wrong. I still fight better with both hands. I just need to adapt quickly to the change. And the more my hand regenerate, the more change I need to do to adapt the growing limb with my fighting style.
In the end, I found a simple solution. It’s to have a prosthetic limb. Though I can’t just show everyone about Victoria’s ability.
So I escaped from being surrounded and approached Kayla as soon as possible. She’s the closest one here to me.
"Kayla, tie this knife to my right... wrist? Whatever. Having a blade will be better than throwing a punch," I said to Kayla as I gave her a Blobbyknife for her to tie.
Though it was all just an act.
I grabbed some Blobbies inside my clothes and turned them into a knife and cloth. When Kayla was acting as if she’s tying the knife to my wrist with the cloth, it was actually the Blobbies transforming. So now, there’s no way that the knife will drop from my wrist.
"Thanks. This is much better than having nothing at all," I said before I returned to battle.
I made the knife longer than a normal knife. It’s long enough to be the same length as if I still have my right hand and it’s holding a small knife. With this, I don’t need to gauge the distance anymore as I just need to fight as if I’m holding a sword on my left and a knife on my right normally.
Now that I’m set, it’s time to fight back.
With this the enemies won’t be able to use the same plan anymore as I can wreak havoc.
After getting a knife wrapped on my right, I fought better as I kill more enemies faster. Meanwhile, I also received information that the battlefield in Shelia’s location is done. So I just told her to follow Veronica back to the capital of Varadis.
Because I’m sure that several people must have escaped to the capital and started destroying everything already.
Maybe Julia and William have evacuated as many civilians as possible. But evacuating many doesn’t mean that they have evacuated everyone. Casualties are inevitable. So I want Shelia to follow Veronica and the others there to return to the capital as soon as possible.
I also gave the same order to Graham and Crabbe. But their battles were not over yet. So they will only go to the capital after their fight is over.
I don’t need anymore reinforcement here. We are doing fine now that I wield two blades. And like before, I don’t want to waste too much mana right.
It’s great that I brought the vampires here. Because they can just drink the blood of the enemies, and their fatigue from the battle will be gone.
"Arin, how’s the other vampires doing?" I asked Arin who fought near me.
"We’re doing fine. And letting us drink as many master level mage’s blood as we want, this place is like a feast. Though I can assure you that your blood tastes the best," Arin said.
"I don’t know what to think with that information. But if you’re doing fine, then it’s all good. Now that the enemies have lessened in number, how about you get the enemies whose blood you all have drunk enough to make them unable to move, to somewhere else. Keep them alive as your living blood bank. And they might have some information to tell us later, so we can interrogate them later," I said.
"The other vampires will happily do it. To have a lot of master level mage’s blood whenever we want, they will be happy. Though I want a reward for doing it. A reward for me and not for the other vampires," Arin said.
She only said that when she wants my blood. Though I can’t give her any right now.
"See this? I got my right hand severed in battle before. I have lost enough blood for today. But if you’re patient enough, after a few days, you can drink my blood," I said as I showed her my missing right hand which has changed into a knife wrapped around my wrist.
"I still can’t believe that you let down your guard that much. To the point where you lost a hand. Was the enemy that strong?" Arin asked.
"Maybe we will face even stronger enemy inside that building after we’re done here. Also he’s not only strong. He also has a lot of fighting experience. Just be careful or you might suffer the same fate," I said.
The Archbishop was strong, smart, and experienced. He tried to kill me with that Wind Slash, but only managed to cut off my hand. Soon after that, he noticed that I would be able to dodge his next attack. So he made a quick decision to destroy my right hand completely.
It was not planned like that. I’m sure of it. He just quickly changed his decision in the middle of casting his magic.
If he’s that strong and smart, then the Evil God might be much better. We have to be careful of what’s inside the building. I hope Sonia is fine inside there.
